This Wojak meme video is about the life of a security guard. Doomer is security officer in a shopping mall, and with his colleagues Chad and Josh we follow him through his day. From loitering zoomers to robberies: a day in the life of a security officer is not always boring!

I worked as a security guard for 8 years and let me say this: it can be the easiest job you've ever done, or the most boring, soul crushing thing you've ever done. Also, don't expect anyone, not even your boss, to show you respect or say thanks.

I never got respect from any boss ever in forty years. I fixed a design problem for a circuit for NASA decades ago, my boss took credit, glory hound, I got to work on Christmas and New Years days looking for more bugs. That was my respect.

I was a security guard for years, and I DEARLY miss it. 8-10 hours a day reading, writing, listening to music, BSing with co-workers, and the only job I've ever had where management actually not only liked/respected me, but thanked me (the trick to this is to volunteer when other people, even at other sites, call off, which is always). If you're a lazy slacker or you like to read or stare off into space, I cannot recommend it enough. Depending on the site, the work-to-fucking-around ratio is about 20:80, or maybe 60:40. Not a bad gig at all.

I work 11 hours per night, but as soon as i finish the nights of work i have multiple rest days (like 7 nights of work then 8 rest days for example). My shifts were early morning, I'm sure late night is different. Have you noticed that the feeling is not the same when when you are sleepy because you didn't sleep enough and when you are sleepy because you haven't slept yet. I experienced the first while at work as security guard and regret is attached to this because you beat yourself up for not getting enough sleep. Then you go down that rabbit hole. In my case, I was doing this while going to school and I could only dream of the day I gained my skills and left. In my case, I was studying how to program and that concept is hard to grasp at first, until you get it. So, while you dream you'll one day leave the dead end job, you faced with a mountain of logic. People treat you like second class citizens, if they even acknowledge that you are there, at least until there is something they need from you. Depending on where you work, you see well off people moving from place to place and you wish it was you. You see them happy and well rested. You envy the life they have. The security policies are silly, you have to walk around a building to make sure the inhabitants won't step in a pile of poop on the way up to their office. Who work with a range of people, from old guys who are super chill, to college students making a buck to eat while they study, to complete lowlifes. I always say hi to the security person whenever I see one, you never know what they're going through. If it's seasonal job, my advice is to negotiate for the absolute best terms and hours.@@JRPGGUY

Security Guard here, few months away from my 1st year. Some companies will treat you as disposable, neglect your safety, and improperly train you. Avoid those. We are not batman, we are not cops. I often view myself as a peacekeeper, and honestly that kind of mentality will keep you from being buried 6 feet. Always assess your surroundings, learn to de-escalate, choose your confrontations wisely and this job will treat you so fucking well. I have made countless relationships with patrons and have learned so much about my town. I used to work apartments overnights and I have been happier ever since I stopped working in shady areas I did not belong in, I also now work during the day. God bless us all :)

It feels right now like a distant dream as Im working in IT as a system admin. But in those times, it was rough and at the same time valuable as I learned a lot of lessons just through observations of other people and observing for a lot of time, my thoughts alone. I literally found my life purpose and read a shit ton of books on those jobs. Experience could be amazing, but pay is shitty. As a security guard, I do have to comment on 3:33 that Wojak had nothing to be upset about. "We'll be gone as soon as [the police] arrive". That's exactly the kind of response we want from troublemakers like these. Fake a call to the police, then they leave. Our job isn't to intimidate. It's to observe and report. And sometimes kick people out. If they resist, just call the police. It can be stressful at times, but if you focus on the positives, it's a chill job.

I worked as a security guard, and that was the scariest night of my life. It was at this abandoned 80s pizza place. Surprisingly, the CCTV system still worked, but that place must have been running on AA batteries because the power drained so quickly. There were also some animatronics, which I’m not really a fan of anyways. Somehow, they started moving and tried to go to my office. I had a really close call with this fox guy; he started running towards me but I quickly shut the door. That was the most horrifying experience I’ve ever had. And the pay, it was dogshit. But, nobody believes me when I tell them about it… not even my family.

I am a armed security guard at a nuclear plant I started out guarding a gravel pit for minimum wage with nothing but a flash light and a note pad. The important part is to turn the months and years of dead end boredom and grind into experience, and use that to leverage your way into better paying jobs. You can get lulled into a sense of hopelessness and depression with the night shifts and constant routine. use that time to read, come up with a good game plan for life, stuff like that

Whatever it is that you're doing, be the absolute best you can be at it. Ask yourself at the end of every shift if there was something you could have done better, and learn everything you can. It works. I've picked up awards from multiple security companies by doing that.

Fun video. This is more nostalgia than accuracy in 2023-2024. Malls are a thing of the past (unfortunately) and noble officers or bosses are as common as finding diamonds in the sewer. If you are doing well, appreciate what you got while you can, bros.

At least in my country (Argentina) malls are pretty much alive. They just shifted from being solely stores, to a mix of dining floors, supermarkets, games, novelty stores and basically whatever can get people coming. Last time I was in the Abasto Shopping, they installed an ice rink and a set of games with ziplines for the children in the main hall.

I've been working in security for about 8 years, and this is pretty accurate. I've done a bit of retail security work, but I mainly focus on event security. It's a lot more fun and less boring. There's always some new challenge or unusual situation to deal with. If you put in the effort to learn, improve, and do the best job possible, it can be really rewarding. I highly recommend giving it a go. I basically get paid to go to almost every concert, festival, and sporting event in my area, and even some out of town. It's pretty awesome.

If this was realistic the cops wouldn't have showed up in time for the pooping guy. They would have maybe came by 2 hours later and said "oops guess he's gone." If they did have cops near by on a slow day then that might happen. Also when the security guard chased the guy with the purse the security guard would have been fired immediately for touching a person and "putting himself in a dangerous situation." When Chad said that stuff to the teens he would also have been fired for making threats of bodily harm. The kids would have complained and reported it and the parents showed up later to demand he be fired and threaten to sue the security company. The company would fire the Chad instantly. One realistic thing is that there is always at least 1 good cop who will give the security guard credit when he helps get a bad guy. But most cops hate security guards and treat us like garbage. The entire security industry is a joke and pathetic. It's not like it was originally when guards were serious business and were allowed to do things and encouraged to do so.

I had to laugh when Chad was talking about going into the army. When I worked for a security company we would all talk about these ambitious plans we had even though there was a part of us that knew we would never accomplish these goals. Still, it was a way to cope with being in a seemingly dead end job.

Security companies always have the wannabe military and wannabe cops who are absolute weirdos and fake. The others are some ex army or whatever guys who never did any combat or anything serious. Then most are the fat guys and really skinny nerds who wouldn't intimidate anyone. The rest are the actual guys who want to do their best and wish they were allowed to stop things from happening instead of just standing there pretending to secure something. It's a fake industry.
