Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Takeaway and other fast food delivery companies are growing at a rapid speed. But how is it like being a fast food delivery driver? In this meme video, Wojak tries it out. He quits his job at McDonalds and becomes a Takeaway driver. Enjoy a day in the life of a food delivery driver.

ive been workin as food delivery guy for 5 years in germany. heres my stance on the video: 1. dickhead customers are actually rare. also you just have to not listen to them, tell them to contact customer support, wish a nice day and get out of there 2. since you are working in dangerous street traffic its illegal of your employer to tell you to go faster and put pressure on you. if they tell you to go faster simply tell them you cant without endangering yourself 3. rain is a bitch and the worst part of the whole thing. but if you are prepared with proper clothing its actually just a matter of keeping your phone dry 4. reckless drivers exist everywhere and your only option is to take the extra care which they dont take and always think a few steps ahead, even if that means having to wait or make place 5. if you have the choice between getting paid per delivery and getting paid per hour always choose getting paid per hour. getting paid per delivery makes people drive endanger themselves for earning more money, yet they average out on the same total because there are days where no orders come in

Actually if you have the choice, clearly you have to do both. Work hourly during the week, fill up some hours and when you’re bored + on weekends you can grind per-order.

@@blanco7726 by choice i meant if you have 2 employers offering different systems, so you chose one. but if your employer offers both systems flexibly thats even better, my city only offers one of them and one hybrid model where you get paid per order unless your orders total below minimum wage

@@MapleXD2000 hybrid sounds great. I'm talking about two different employers though. One that does hourly and one that pays per-order. as a delivery wagie I'd still much prefer it over being a mcwagie, I wait there a lot for my orders and the employees always look extremely stressed and uncomfortable with their manager yelling behind their back, I don't think any wagie job beats getting paid to do cardio while listening to your gym playlist and having like a 5 min break every order while waiting at the restaurant so I'll probably keep doing this until i can get a "real" job

Im also a delivery driver at takeaway, which is what they based the orange guy off in this video. We get paid by the hour and are fully insured employees, so not a gig like deliveroo or ubereats. All though I kinda enjoyed this job for the first months, it's starting to get annoying. Constantly having orders inside city center with crap roads and feeling like you're an eyesore to the peds, because theres so many delivery drivers with bikes, especially ubereats and deliveroo, takeaway is the minority though. I miss being in a stationary job, inside a store etc.. i really don't know, I think it's best to switch to being a store worker temporary just to switch things up until i get tired of that. I have greater goals in life but first you gotta be a little wagecuck

As a delivery rider. I can confirm this is very accurate. The only thing you left out is that they reduce the pay over time. I started with £4 per delivery 2 years ago and now it's £2.90. That's for going to restaurants, waiting half an hour for food and then travelling to the customer😖

Sad how accurate this was. I remember being able to pull 150+ a day, easy after I first left work during the pandemic. I’d spend 2-3 hours at lunch and dinner and it was so rad. Bumping tunes and singing along in my car and bringing people happy to have me braving the viral wasteland we were in and getting great tips. Fast forward 6 months when things started to go downhill. Apps cutting base pay, gas going up, food prices on apps go up, tips go down, hourly rate goes down, amount of orders even worth taking goes down. It got to the point where I’d just sit there in my car declining piles of orders for 3 dollars to drive 6 miles. Glad to be out of the current mess it’s become but still think back fondly of when it was dope. This video kinda hit home and makes me appreciate my comfy work from home job I have now

... How's nursing going? All of the nurses (and most medical staff) in my state are basically taking turns going on strike this year. Under paid, under staffed, over worked making the job not worth it AND also causing harm to patients. And then of course venture capital companies buying hospitals left and right and decreasing staff or outright closing the hospital. Ooh and then of course all of the BS insurance companies pull.

The truth is this was great for the last 3-4 years. It has turned really really bad with all the economic changes to the world. Ill give you an example, i once worked for this company who shall remained nameless because i dont wana get sued or whatever. They handled all kind of deliveries. They paid really really well, i used to make $10 per trip, most trips are at most 10km. And i used a motorcycle, which ran at about 22km/litre. And, the best part, was that there were stacked trips, so 6 consecutive drop offs, which add up to almost $70. You also get bonus perks like being able to see jobs ahead of everyone else on the platform if you hit a certain milestone. At my best, i made $500 in 2 days. Then the market diversified, more players entered, and now, you'll be lucky to get $5 a trip. This was just a temporary job for me, so i wasnt hit bad, but yeah, this whole industry is now no longer viable.

I started working as a delivery rider in Feb 2018. 3 months as a sushi rider, 2 years as a FoodPanda rider, and another 2 years as a GrabFood order. I have learnt so much about the characters of people, seen just about my whole country (Singapore), had my fair share of close calls and road rash. Once i even skidded my bike, totalled my gear lever, broken mirror and a bent handlebar, whilst bleeding on my left shoulder blade, arms, knees and foot BUT i still managed to deliver and complete the order as the condo was just infront of the road i skidded my motorbike. I can say with the breath of my experience, it's a fulfilling job. There are times when it's a thankless job. Most times the customers are polite and gave me a tip. I always do my best to give the best customer service to my customers, directing them to Customer Service in the event i am unable to further assist them. It really was a good paying job before the pandemic hit. But as another comment said, delivery platforms started to lower the base pay as more people turned to delivering food due to the loss of jobs during the pandemic. My love for working under the rain and shine for so many years, to feel the freedom of working on my own, started to dim as the average salary that i worked for started to go down, along with the orders. It started to feel like a competition. Waking up everyday felt exhausting. The burnout was real. I finally managed to land myself a full-time job in late April 2022. I was worried I couldn't adjust to the working life. But bro let me tell you, that was the best decision i ever made in my life. Job security is a real thing. I really loved and enjoyed my time as a delivery rider to the fullest, but times change. If you managed to read thru this short story, i thank you for reading everything. Do what makes you happy. Life can feel like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. But there's always something to look forward to in your own unique life. I wish anyone reading this the very best in life. Be kind to animals. Be kind to others. Be kind to yourself.

I took a job last year as a bike delivery guy for Jimmy John's. At first it was great but then we started getting more orders than we had the staff to handle. Every customer was pissed because their food was super late, the cars hate you because you're in the road. You could really feel the disdain of the whole city bearing down on you. My coworkers were also mostly recovering addicts as the shop I worked in had a deal with this local half way house, giving jobs to these guys recovering from addiction. But it was such an important time for me. All that weight on my shoulders made me feel like a rose in the concrete. I tried my best to be a little bit of light from the dark bottom of a city of struggle. I quit after one too many close calls with a car but that job was an important time in my life.

I’ve always been tempted by the idea of being a delivery person like that. My brother does it part time and made decent money, I currently work as a bartender/waiter - and I make decent money but there’s something about being able to exercise, control of your hours and be outside that is very appealing to me. It sucks that where I live in the countryside there’s nothing like that opportunity here, if I lived in the city I would definitely give it a go tho

@@somekid7 Its not capitalism. Its the work supply and the work demand. Because of cheap immigrants and women entering the workforce and the fact that there is always some second world country undercutting the rest in terms of low wages the wages went down. Since 1970 wages were stagnant even though the productivity went up by a good amount. But you cant go back to high wages because all you will achieve is that your country will get outcompeted and its industry will just go to other countries leaving the country even worse. So whats the solution? There is none we are doomed, or your smart and educate yourself rising into the upper class by making people work for you instead of working for them, reinforcing the big wall between the poor masses and the humans living in the sky in the process.

I worked as a delivery driver on a scooter for about 7 years but never at uber eats or something like that, always at a restaurant or cafe. The only thing that's worse than rain is rain + temperatures around the freezing point. All the gloves I've tried were simply not enough to keep my hands warm, because they either got completely soaked in ice cold water, or they are actually waterproof but just not warm enough. I only worked for 3 hours per day, but after 3 hours of non-stop riding through cold rain, getting off the bike to deliver the food, driving back, getting off to grab the food and repeat, you are completely done by the time it's finally finished and just need to go home to finally warm up and rest. At some places it's not so bad because there are less orders and you sit on your ass doing nothing for a large part of the time. I did this job for so long because I thought I wouldn't find anything better without any credentials or certifications, but now I work online on my own schedule, comfortably from my sofa without any pressure and with much better pay. Just took some desperation and persistence.
