Love your content and the transparency ❤ However truth has to be said.... If your primary intention is to earn money then being a doctor is not suitable for you.... Just as you said, the average salary of a doctor ranges to only around 100k to 200k... And that too after having to work tirelessly However a software engineer earns 400-500k even after doing an 08:00-05:00 job.... A manager in a good company also earns around 250-350k, And some don't even have to show up to work as they now have the option of working from home..... Some even do multiple jobs during weekends, etc So yeah, To earn a decent amount either you have to do private practice or reach the consultant level.... Which most or the time takes years, sometimes decades of practice So bottomline is If your main intention is to serve the society and save people's lives then medicine is the best choice for you However, if your main intention is to earn money then I'm afraid that you gotta think twice about doing medicine

Exatcly, and the thing is if you have money... you can always fund doctors, hospitals or other philanthropy movements and help the world anyway. The Hierarchy for doctors is a result of very limited access to medical faculties in sri lanka. Very good video. Thank you for being honest

But sadly that’s not the case , Especially now because the financial complexion of this country has changed very much after COVID struck and after the financial crisis …. A few years back … A salary of 100k-150k would have been adequate to manage most of our daily expenses and live a life … But now , with all the expenses sky rocketing their way to the top and with Taxes also on the increase That same salary is largely inaedequate…. Especially for doctors Who sometimes have to spend thousands of rupees for fuel because they usually travel a lot to and fro from the hospital they are based in So when you take all of that into account , The amount of money that a doctor is able to save for his family is very less when compared to other jobs And even migrating out of this country is not that easy for doctors … Because in order to do so you have to sit for foreign medical license exams such as PLAB ,AMC and USMLE Which can be very costly and sometimes very time consuming as well So yeah …as I said before , If you are coming from a life with financial difficulties and your primary concern is to earn as much as possible …. Then you gotta think twice before choosing medicine

The curriculum is different in the colombo faculty now. In the second year, you have to learn all pharmacology, pathology, microbiology,parasitology and immunology. And you have 4 Continous assessments and a end of stream assessment which you have to face all modules in a single exam. And if have a cumulative mark less than 45 ,you have to repeat all 4 subjects. No study leave is given for the exam and you are not put into the junior batch. You have face the exam while doing clinical appoints and clinical sciences lectures and exams.
