Her husband wasn’t divorced. It was a big controversy. Boney Kapoor was married and settled with his first wife and kids, but then started having an affair with Sri Devi, things got complicated and eventually Boney Kapoor left his first wife and kids for Sri Devi and later went on to marry her. This caused a huge rift in Arjun Kapoor’s upbringings with not having a supporting father to grow up with causing resentment towards Sri Devi and her children. Fun fact: Arjun Kapoor’s mother passed away right before the release of his debut film, and Sri Devi passed away right before the release of her daughter’s debuts film. (Life works in mysterious ways) But the relationship between Sri Devi’s daughter & Arjun Kapoor was all patched up after Sri Devi passed away. All the years of resentment went away as he took up the role of older brother!

I grew up watching Sridevi. She was my absolute favourite! I remember a really fun little film called "Masterji." I just found her really fun and delightful. She was THE ACTRESS of her times. I'd be watching a movie with my parents and I remember they'd be mesmerised by every expression on her face in a particular scene. Other actors would just not come close to what she brought to the screen.

Sri Devi has a very interesting, tragic life. She was a child artiste and like many of that time was exploited and controlled by her mother and the Industry. In those days 80’s and 90’s female actors ended their career after marriage. Partly due to society not accepting a married woman on screen and the misogyny that exists in society. As a result her romantic life was very much controlled by her handlers and she had a few high profile relationships which fizzled out. Probably as some sort of rebellion initially, She had a very public affair with a much married man. The marriage broke up because of the affair and was very bitter and scandalous . Boney Kapoor ( brother of Anil) abandoned his first family and for many many years was estranged from them. As adults the children reconnected and sort of built bridges. So many many more stories which this video absolutely did not address.
