One night is good, you can enjoy the complete sunset when the day trippers have left and can also explore early in the morning before the boats start coming in. If you do have a few favourite spots then a day is enough to just relax. Though spending the night does give that true feeling of separation from the madness of the mainland IMO

Just a few tips if you haven't already, you could have gone up to the Temple above Tawaen Beach they offer tandem paragliding there (you showed a small clip), its cool to watch them take off, then continue onwards from there past the big monk statue up to the monastery that leads you to the highest peak overlooking Tawaen Beach, fantastic 360 views. There is another peak on the south west portion of the island next to a wind turbine farm that also provides awesome views to the mainland. The final beach you went to is Samae Beach, my personal favourite and best one for sunsets as it is facing west. You could have also climbed the headland on the north side of Samae Beach, thats not as precarious as there are good steps, it also provides a great view. Next stops Koh Chang, Koh Mak, Koh Kood etc?

Koh Larn used to be a nice day out but completely over exploited now. PS be careful of the dogs at night. If they ever go for you, crouch and pick up a rock (or pretend to), it scares them away.

Great vlog DJ. Sea looked incredibly inviting. Factor 50 or headgear is a must. I took my two children to the Dominican Republic some years ago. Right on the coast with coastal winds. The hotel guide told us not to be fooled. Even with the wind, the sun could cause serious damage. Nice one Darren👍

Love the ocean without alot of people too early morning and sunset or later even! Wow lookks so peaceful!! Darren you made need a wider brimmed hat for the intense sun there! Just a suggestion! The sun can be extremely dangerous! My late Mum had a Melanoma on her face...to cut a long horrible story out she had Bone cancer because of it will never forget her painful screams! It's often more like squash in Thailand, rather than natural juice. Very artificial and sugary sweet.

So glad to see Koh Larn still looking lovely. The last time I was there was in April on a day trip a couple of years ago and it was so hot and overcrowded. I only went to one beach though so now I know to find a secluded beach next time. BTW, that spot overlooking the cliff is a gem!

I really enjoyed this, Darren. It's so lovely to watch someone go through what I did, experience those emotions. I can still remember how it felt to sit over looking the waves with an ice cold beer on the white sands of Koh Samet years ago. I'm a fan of yours, keep being you and ignore the naysayers. Never set foot on the island but had a few trips out there on hired boats where we snorkeled and played around on jet skis, many years ago and it was stunning, sadly the jet ski scammers were active even back then and tried to rip us off for fictitious damage. All great fun though and glad you enjoyed yourself. Nice video DJ cheers

Beauty of Koh Lahn for you Darren you can just pop on the ferry and go for the day. Ignore the speedboat people at the front of the piers and just keep walking right to the end and just pay the lady 30 Bhat each way , the two ferry’s you can either go straight around the back to Tawaen beach that’s the one with the view point or go to the main front pier. They run all day till about 5 coming back .

Hi Darren superb video once again but just a bit of advice have u not thought of going on a course to learn the language as living in another country not understanding your surroundings can be quite alienating I just think it’s a bit more respectful to learn there language rather expect them to speak English in a Thai country not only that learning to speak it will help u make friends I moved to the Netherlands from 2007 I went to arcus college and studied there language which I can now speak 100% and it helps a lot so I just wanted to know if your going to make the effort to speak Thai language I’m not being horrible just bit of friendly and constructive advice.

Learning a few essential words is fine and anything more is almost impossible for others. I myself struggle immensely. For me, learning a language, mathematics or a musical instrument is impossible. And let's not forget that English is officially the international language.

Thai is a tonal language. There can be up to 5 or more different meanings to a word that initially and essentially sounds the same to our "western" ears. I would, however, suggest to learn "common" phrases and numbers. I also started to learn the names of food dishes that I like and how to order food and drinks. Though without formal classes and tremendous effort, I think it's almost impossible, at least for me. In areas more frequented by tourists English can be ok, in rural areas and in the event of an impass regardless of location, Google translate works great in a pinch and can be a life saver.
