@@keith455-73 What makes it beyond cool, is that some of these artists that jam with Daryl (Tommy Shaw, Kenny Loggins) way over-think it, and try to direct all the parts beforehand to preserve 'their' song...whereas Joe Walsh just does Joe Walsh, and let's everyone else do whatever they do. That confidence is very noticeable, and everyone involved looks better as a result.

That’s the case with most well practiced creative musicians. I saw Jerry Garcia perform any number of songs dozens of times without ever playing them exactly the same. I especially loved it when he’d completely change the key multiple times within a song. Sometimes he’d play a melody with a lot of double stops and the next time with a lot of whole tone bends. Sometimes he’d play a song and purposely not play any quarter notes. It kept things fresh for him and for us.

Cory Clark You're right. I'm mid 40s, and I am aware of not trying to sound like a "fuddy duddy" type, but this is just one of many examples of why Classic Rock is called CLASSIC. It never goes out of style. Nothing like it.

@ralphnoyes43669 жыл бұрын
Cory Clark A lot of us aging boomer dads REALLY wanted our kids to hear and know the good music of my generation. My son is 29, in graduate school, and has a great future. He also plays drums in a new wave/pop band in Nashville -- think Nicky Lowe -- and his favorite artists are Gram Parsons and especially Lou Reed. His drummer heroes are Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Levon Helm. I pushed my musical tastes on him a bit, but he's a truly a "free-range" kid, and I"m proud of that one accomplishment. I hope ALL of you are "free-range" kids whose dads (and/or moms) turned you on to the good stuff.
@singerofsongss9 жыл бұрын
+Ralph Noyes That's definitely the situation with me. I'm 15 and my parents gave me lots of exposure to all types of music as a kid. I listened to a lot of their old CDs in the car. Apparently I always took a liking to classic rock, even as a little kid. My dad recently took me to see Paul McCartney, which has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Props to you for teaching your child to love all kinds of music :)

I had NO IDEA who he was...but we all talked for awhile and hung out after the theatre closed. I kept giggling. He was soooo funny...he gave me his album and signed it, with a sweet little message on it, "to my youngest fan Megan, life's been good but don't do anything I'd DO. Lol! Without Joe Walsh and Don't Felder the EAGLES would have ended up just another average country-rock band. Walsh and Felder's amazing guitar talents turned them into an amazing, spirited, powerful rock group with unique innovative lead duels with two of the best lead guitarists in the business. Walsh's and Fingers Felder rock duals are legendary. It's still sad to me that as great as the Eagles have been, how much better they would have been had Frey and Henley's greed and debauchery not caused Felder's unfair departure. He only asked for what he rightfully deserved and Joe really deserved the same. The others played for the sheer joy of creating and playing great music, while it seems Henley and Frey played with a chip on their shoulder and treated it only as a business and seemed to have missed the point of what music brings to us. Nonetheless they are one of histories greatest bands. When money and greed ruin a long friendship, it is a sad outcome.

Joe is awesome. Got to see the Eagles play in 2017. They played for 3.5 hours straight. All their hits and all their solo stuff. They killed it. Joe stole the show. It was badass when he hit those harmonics at 6:01
