This is a correction to a previously uploaded video. For some reason the camera was in mirror mode.
Have you ever read the life stories of the past masters? If you do it will give you a good idea of what it takes to gain realisation and also what an authentic master looks like.

I think it becomes natural, when one reaches levels of advancement, that one becomes humble out of absolute true universal compassion flowing through the heart. But those who purposely humble themselves just to be morally right doesn't mean they are enlightened like some new age followers think (I love the new age section of the book store 😊). My point, I think, is to hunger and thirst for true levels of advancement to self realization. This isn't advice for my brother creating this video. I actually learn from him. But this is just my thoughts for open dialogue. Thank you!

Your insight is sooo correct! And I also think that new age books have a lot to offer, in fact any sincere and un-mistaken spiritual path is extremely beneficial and sorely needed in the 21st Century. I hope you stay hungry and eventually become sated! 🙏🙏🙏

And I’m sorry to be taking up so much space with my own postings here… but I would love to hear you tell one of the story of Saraha’s awakening. I always feel resonance with him and inspirations by the many versions of his awakening - the breakthrough into the Truth through his interaction with the yogini/dakini guru.

I hope you feel called to tell more stories of the Siddhas and saints and buddhas. Their state is conveyed in their stories. For me, Reality can crack through into the present through the the telling of their lilas and lives. I just love the stories of the enlightened ones!

Another thought… it also helps me to make subtle corrections in my my limited viewpoints through the wisdom of the stories of masters such as this. And, of course it benefits inspiration to keep practicing when I become lazy or confused.

we spend much of our lives building up our minds if we want enlightenment we will have to tear it all down, and give it all back

I hope you (or anyone watching this) don’t take these stories literally.. If a person feeds himself to insects for the sake of insects, I don’t see why a person would even live this life. You know just by walking on the earth we kill so many sentient beings. Also, there lies a conflict b/w compassion for oneself (afterall this body is also sentient) and compassion for other sentients. One can say that for a realised person there’s no difference between self and other etc, but all those perspectives this material life (with a body and all) make it very improbable that a realised person would want to live or would even try to live Moreover plants are also sentient, and just to be alive we kill so many of them.. Once I started reading Patanjali’s Yogasutra , it really is logical one first couple of pages, but then it goes on to say that a realised person can do this and that (supernatural) which nobody has ever demonstrated

The story of Patrul rinpoche is literal and it wasn't that long ago. He only pat away in 1887. Also feeding yourself to insects isn't anything that difficult, I know people who do it. Not sure why you think it is such a big deal. Maybe you could clarify your position? Thanks

@@ultimatemeaning It's quite possible that some people do that. But I was talking about the reasoning behind doing so in relation to a 'realised' person. If a person does such things out of great compassion, that great compassion should also stop the person from moving from one place to another (especially in natural settings) since simply walking kills many sentient beings (even if one tries to avoid doing so). Also, such great compassion should be towards plants as well, and then why would such person eat anything?

Well that's not what the Buddha taught anyway. For example the Buddha taught that Arhats shouldn't use their extra sensory perception to check water before drinking it, otherwise they would never get anything to drink. Besides that Patrul rinpoche is universally renowned by all schools of Tibetan buddhism to have been a realised master, so who am I to criticise him?
@itsalljustimages

@@ultimatemeaning It's not about Patrul Rinpoche, it's about this idea of 'realised person'. And I think Buddha would himself agree that you can criticise even Buddha with logic and reasoning. Personally if I ever become a monk (which I might do), it would not be because of enlightenment since that thing is not reasonable, it will be only because I find (or rather imagine) community of monks to be better suitable for me than the community of this regular world..

Sorry, I think I am missing your point. Are you saying Enlightenment isn't reasonable, or it isn't logical? And it isn't certain what a monastic community is like. I was lucky because the Monks and Nuns of our monastery are generally quite good - very easy going and pleasant. I have stayed for short periods with other groups who I wouldn't describe in that way, even a group of monastics who were much worse than my worldly Buddhist friends. Also there are down right cult groups, so check them out well in advance. The Buddha taught 3 valid reasons for becoming a mendicant 1) Seeking protection from fear, 2) seeking the well being of the higher realms of gods and men, and 3) renunciation and a desire for liberation from Samsara. Ihad a friend who joined the Thai forest monks for 6 years. His idea was that this might be a viable system for living in harmony with the planet or something. In the end he gave up his robes, and also gave up on Buddhism I think. HE eventually decided that it made more sense to join a permaculture community in Norway. @@itsalljustimages 😆🤣😆
