I have been listening to and interacting with teachers from Bob Thurman to Sailor Bob Adamson to Rupert Spira et al and I am convinced Swami Sarvapriyananda is the best of them. For MY purposes at least. And that's not to take away from any of the others because I truly enjoy and learn from each. He just has such a good rapport and ability to present simply. I feel so fortunate to have found these videos. Truly a boon! namaste

Osho introduced me Advaita 40 years back, and it gave me a new vision in life. I was born a Christian in India but found it, like the other 2 Abrihamic religions, supremisist in nature (only we are Gods chosen people). Advaita is universal and all inclusive. Stillness of mind is the path to Moksha.

can You please answer me , i have a question .. Whatever is an object of consiousness cannot be the you , because you can see it , there exists a distance . The Human eyes can see everything in this world , except themself so by that logic , no matter what I ( consiousness ) do , i'll never be able to experience / know myself !! because if i can experience / know myself , then that is not me !!

Swami Sarvapriyanandaji..it is one of the greatest teachings i have ever received. Before receiving this wonderful wisdom, I was believing that I am only a mind (with million years of karmic imprints) with a body (due to the karmic imprints). 1. Life is a mere series of experiences of the consciousness and we are not the experiences, but the witness of the experiences. 2. Each experience (object of) / thought is changing but awareness is not (subject) 3. In deep sleep, there is only an experience of absence (not absence of experience). 4. We have this world experience due t o the unchanging awareness which is nothing but MYSELF. It clears many doubts on the understanding of myself and the world around. I could not only imagine, but can visualise/ feel well that I am the unchanging consciousness/ awareness experiencing in my body and ever changing mind. Feel like touching your feet virtually. Kindly accept my virtual surrender to you and bless me for ever.. I am hope full of meeting you personally soon. Keen to practice practical methods to keep me awake with this knowledge for ever and overcome this worldly struggles though I feel like much relieved now with this invaluable knowledge.

From 28:00 Advaita is said to claim that deep sleep is experience of absence. I think of consciousness as an on/off state. And the nondual existence is the Word of God in Christianity and Brahman in Hinduism. It's the Word of God (John 1) that switches on and off our personal and individual (Atman) consciousnesses. So my point is that consciousness defined as a state allows on and off of that state. And the mind is that which consciousness is aware of. Also, the Bible makes a clear distinction between our fallen world which is a limitation and the kingdom of God which is the unveiling of the fallen world into a vaster intelligence. Does Vedanta describe that higher intelligence and a new earth without death?

To me Advaita Vedanta is a dualistic tradition. It teaches this world is unreal and somehow separate and unreal from God. That is dualism. Trika Shaivism really teaches true oneness with the phsical world which is simply the Shakti of God, which is an expression of God and not unreal or separate. Pranam 🙏

Sat-Cit is providing the appearance of 'subject' to the subject-object awareness-experiencdynamic. Sat-Cit is discernable to mind/intellect as a contrast to the changing but Sat-Cit is not aware of 'otherness.' Brahman is not being freed, the mind is being freed from the illusion of independent selfness/suchness.

Swamiji explains nicely a difficult subject. How do one knows that one slept like a deadwood? Something that must be noticing that deadwoodness. That is the consciousness/awareness/Athman/self. It is like a screen in a cinema theatre where scenes come & go but the white screen is permanent like our consciousness on which all the events take place and disappear. Only by regular meditation can be experienced.

Does Vedanta have any explanation for what happens to awareness during general anesthesia? I was deeply disturbed the first time I experienced it. It is like blinking your eye and hours have passed. No awareness whatsoever - not even awareness of nothing.

(@29:19) if I'm at the station, and the freight train has left, then "I" say "oh, it's empty." and Swami says this is analogous to sleeping w/o dreaming and can be called "awareness w/o objective consciousness." Swami says b/c "I" say "it's empty" then "I" am still there to call it "empty"...the point is, the eternal "I" (pure awareness?) is there. BUT........ This does not resemble or 'jive' with my own experience of waking from a dreamless sleep, or, let's use a more 'pure' example, going under drug-induced anesthesia, which is completely dreamless. MY EXPERIENCE in these situations has been that "I" have NO awareness (this is absence of experience NOT experience of absence) AND that my mind is somehow reconstituted to again process continuous experience. My experience seems to jive more with the notion of 'no-self' as being the ultimate reality, rather than pure awareness being thus.

when you cut a finger , its a physical sensation , and YOU can experience a physical sensation only through the mind . So when your friend cuts his finger , YOU are the one feeling it , but through that body and that mind and sensation of pain is stored in that memory . The mind that you think is you , does not feel it because this body did not cut its finger . That mind felt it and stored it in that memory , because that body cut its finger . isn't it ?

If not then who said I slept happily? My second question - consciousness which was present in deep sleep but it can't speaks. Mind can speak but mind was not present in deep sleep. Third question- consciousness not intrested in happily sleep because consciousness is Happyness.

Commenting for the algorithm. It kinda looks like अद्वैत वेदांत is the final stop. What is a final stop, anyway. I don't know anything. "Vedanta is not interested in your dreams," says Swami Ji. Oh, my. Edit: I had been a student of Ramakrishna Mission School but somewhere along the way, I got lost. All this makes so much sense, I am surprised that it seems like I had always known this.

I think of consciousness as a state of being aware as a self. A state is nothing in itself. And consciousness is an on/off state. This explains I think how one person can be in deep dreamless sleep (consciousness off) and other people in the waking state at the same time (consciousness on). Brahman is timeless information and each Atman, individual eternal soul, is a unique point within Brahman. A point doesn't contain anything yet is an individual self. Christ is the movement through Brahman (the Father) from past to future in the eternal now moment.

I see all life equally imperfect/perfect, and that humans are NOT proprietarily afflicted with inefficiency (Ego) separate/distinct from all other life. I see this inefficiency in all life! Tornadoes, cancer, landslides, tree diseases, riverbank collapses, meteors, supernovas,. The violence 'Life is cruel' observations are the same. 'Ego' is the area of overlap where a cycle of life (aura) begins a new expansion from its contraction. Smallest vibration to the largest (universe) are this same cycle of life. So 'Ego' is creation.

Why there are boundaries/differences/discussions (communications) ,.? The variable interactive dynamics going on between energy entities are via universal repulsion/attraction energy, guiding all lifes things/beings (actions, thoughts and words) from/to their compatibility. Is,- vibration, color and sound (the variations of vibrations that make up the Periodic Table of Elements). So the interactions are either competitive (Inefficient) or cooperative (efficient). Although variable, all life is Dual/Non-dual (competitive/cooperative balanced).

Cancer and Tornado are objects of awareness. Mind due to ignorance and social conditioning labels them BAD. After labelling it BAD it tries to RUN AWAY from it. When it can't RUN and gets CAUGHT it produces 'Distressing' EMOTIONS . These distressing Emotions are then used by Mind as evidence to prove its early proposition that CANCER is bad. This a vicious cycle of Avidya (ignorance).

@@Kim-jo8px Thus one has to fully surrender to Supreme Being and seek blessings, who alone can take us away from bondage. There is no other way.
