You're just such a genuinely nice guy, I can't help but be happy to support your videos. I'm disappointed that I had to discover your channel through the game grumps, because you are supplying such great content. I really wish there was some way for more videos like this to reach a higher number of people. As it stands while I write this comment, your video has 869 views, 106 likes, and a whopping 0 dislikes. Seeing as how people are more prone to express their dislike for something as opposed to their approval, I see that as a full 869 likes. Thank you for not only making video's like this, but for caring about the content of the game. So many letsplayers play games just for the sake of views, but you're playing games that actually mean something to you and that makes it so much more enjoyable to watch. Thank you again!

After watching Danny and Ross play some of the Space Quest games on Steam Train, I have grown to love the Space Quest series and wanted to see more of it. Don't be so hard on yourself. Danny got a bunch of us here, but we're staying for you. You've got great, very entertaining, commentary. It's a nice mix of game background info, personal experience, and colorful additions to the gameplay (a lot better than some other KZbinrs with overly dramatic/screaming/reactive "commentary"). Thanks for adding the deaths! I love when they start adding pictures/animations to the descriptions in the later games.

You're making an excellent series of games into an excellent series of videos that I am very happy to see what the rest of the games (and you) have to offer, so again, I can't wait to see the games, and you! so I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors!

Ahh! I couldn't be mean or say anything bad to save my life. Yet another example of how funny you are, especially within the first six minutes of Space Quest 1 "So right off the bat we are just the fucking hero of this.. you know, the toast of town" I don't know why that was so funny to me, but it was! I never noticed the misspelling of Vohaul's Revenge on the SQ Collection Series box. Thanks for sharing that, Troels! It's interesting that this game gets so much hate. I believe I've mentioned this to you before, but SQII, while not my favorite SQ game, is definitely my favorite AGI engine game that Sierra ever released for that engine. It's a great game, and I look forward to you playing through it! :)
@spacequesthistorian7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! I wouldn't say outright hate, but it does seem to be held in less regard -- probably because the games that followed, 3 and 4 in particular, were so strong. SQ2 is seen as more of a stepping stone towards greatness than greatness itself, I guess? :)

Saw your Space Quest 1 video by chance and liked your love for the game. Made me get SQ2 to try and beat it without a walkthrough, which I just did (still can't believe "put gem in mouth" actually worked). Looking forward to your playthrough for things I missed/background info, keep up the great work
@spacequesthistorian7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! How fast did you get through SQ2? Most people get stuck on "put gem in mouth" for months. :P
@McFugo7 жыл бұрын
Took me three days. I'm familiar with adventure game frustration, so I did everything right - mostly just stopped when I was at a dead end and came back later with a clear head (maybe being an adult now helps, haha). The screen I had most trouble with was actually the one right before, where you have to type in "the word", 'cause I took a long break between the chief's 'hint' and playing... What helped me with the gem, also, is the fact that there are some weird references to it in the screen with the pink aliens that don't make sense. If you try to 'use gem' there you get a text about how "you can't hold something in your hand while on a ladder", even though the ladder is in the next screen. That helped me figure it out (I was still completely grasping and actually surprised it worked, though). By the way, seeing as you tried to kick almost everything else, can't believe you didn't kick the pink alien! Gives a funny little response.
@spacequesthistorian7 жыл бұрын
Nice! Three days is pretty good time, I'd say! :) Even with the "you can't hold it while your hand is on a ladder" hint, putting it in your mouth is still a big leap of logic for most people. Didn't even know the hint showed up on the previous screen. Also, I'm putting the "kick pink alien" thing on my list of things to try out in my wrap-up video. At that point, I was getting used to how the game wouldn't allow me to kick anything, so it never occurred to me to try.
@McFugo7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm actually kind of proud about beating the whole game with no help, didn't think I'd manage. But really all it takes is a cool head. And, well, if you were stuck on a screen with that pink thing that's supposed to help you but instead keeps giggling when you try to talk to it, I'm pretty sure you'd try to kick the shit out of it too :p

Haha! while the stories of the comments section being one of the lowest levels of hell are somewhat exaggerated, they aren't exactly untrue. it's actually more friendly if the channel/video is less popular due to the smaller amount of people and the fact that haters tend to be a small but very loud group. the more popular the channel, the more hateful scum you'll find. in a weird way, this kinda makes hate comments a good sign. don't take that the wrong way though, popularity doesn't exist directly proportional to channel quality.

Oh, thanks - I wasn't being serious in the intro, but I'm very happy about all the reassuring comments. :)

I will say you speak English VERY Amazingly! I can't tell you're not from the UK or the US at all. If I had to guess I'd think you were from the US honestly!

That's very kind of you to say, thank you! Sometimes my mouth trips up and I mispronounce something but then I put on a weird voice and pretend it was on purpose. 😅

@@spacequesthistorian Everyone has times like that. I speak French pretty well too and every now and then I can't think of how to say something and let's say it's that I don't care - I'll say "Je ne care pas" which is like mixing english and french - but usually gets laughs out of everyone because the audience usually also knows English so they know what I was intending to say but to say "I don't care" in French is more like "It's all equal" or "I'm not concened" but to redesign my sentence to say it properly is hard for me at times. I appreciate you posting this long play series though. I am watching it tonight and fell asleep during SQ2 but I think I'm near the end finally so I really want to watch SQ3 and 4 really.

@@dragonprinceHP Haha, that's a great one. 😊 In my case, it's usually a matter of my tongue not cooperating. It's weird to explain, but as an English-speaker who speaks French, perhaps you're in the same boat as me: It's almost like I have to "reconfigure" my mouth when I speak English. It takes me a little second or two, too. English has a lot of "back of the mouth" sounds (particularly the R sound; words like "are," "were," "horse," etc.), whereas my native language (Danish) is mostly "front of the mouth" sounds.

Oh look its Space Quest 2, a game. That does game things....but isn't as good as Space Quest 1 or 3. Or 4, or 5. Maybe better than 6 though. :p
