I think the video was a good example of how chaotic an autistics life can get when there's too many changes happening concurrently and/or consecutively. In your case, both! I'm glad you took some time to rest and regroup. Also SUPER PROUD of you for starting a new business ❤ You're a great example of resilience and persistence!! Thank you for sharing your story. I can't wait for the day when you tell us that you're moving to Italy and leaving all the family drama behind!! Just because we're blood related, doesn't mean we have to tolerate any form of abuse from them.

Welcome back! Your posts are about your life...as a person with an autistic brain...whether your career choices, past trauma, current family drama, what circumstances help you succeed or bring roadblocks to your personal success. To me, that makes all of your posts interesting. Just my two cents on that score. As far as future content - I would be particularly interested in if you can put a finger on what creates a wonderful experience for you as far as feeling comfier in Italy than other places. When I was in Europe for a year WAY before I even realized I had an autistic brain, my brief couple of weeks in northern Italy gave me a sense it would be my first choice of locations to settle if I could - even despite not speaking the language yet. If I missed a video where you went over this, I apologize. Thanks for checking in!

Rambling is very welcome, good to see you again! As for "having milder autism symptoms in Italy vs in the States" - I am from Poland and when I hear about the way American culture is - for example shop assistants asking how you are and making small talk with you etc., I think maybe the American way about social life is a bit more overwhelming than in some other countries? here I can go to a shopping mall and the most talking that is required from me while I am there is saying "hello" when I enter a shop and "No" when asked if I need any help :P

Welcome back, Olivia! Sounds like a lot of challenges have been keeping you busy. Congratulations on your wedding and your new business. You are very ambitious. I am sorry to hear about your challenges with going off the meds and also family issues and losing your pet. But it sounds like at least you are off those meds now and made it through to the other side, which is great. I have been going through my own crazy year of revelations and changes as well with realizing my family has been toxically abusive toward me my whole life and having to go no contact with them. I am learning about narcissistic family systems now and how that plays out in my family and am in therapy to help me heal and deprogram from all the brainwashing and find my true self. I am also dealing with menopause, I believe and learning all about that as well, as I am about go off my birth control hormones in a couple days for a few months so I can be tested to see where I am at and see what I need. I am grateful that Mary Claire Haver has come out with her book and all her research about menopause recently as I am learning a lot from her and her book and resources. Sorry, now I am rambling like this is a pen pal letter here! Anyway, I wanted to welcome you back to filming and talking about your life and autism. I am interested in the context of your autism (your life) because as you are probably realizing, autism doesn't exist in a vacuum. Many of us have family issues and abuse because we are vulnerable, different, nice, and gullible because we are honest. Narcissists prey on us unfortunately. I don't know if you are in exactly that situation but I feel like all autistic people have some bullying abuse at least that we have had to live through or continue to live through. It's not easy. I hope you find the alone time you need to recharge. Feel free to leave that house and be alone elsewhere if you need to! They don't need to know. Have a standing appointment with yourself to get away from them and just be yourself somewhere. Take a walk, take a drive, visit a library, window shop, or lock yourself up in your bedroom. When you land on the right way to do alone recharge time, you will know. Just keep trying things that seem interesting until you find the one that hits right. I will see you in your other videos soon, as I am behind in my watchlist. Take care!

This is most definitely autistic content, although it's more autistic content for autistics. Our neurodivergence affects how we move through the world. Listening to each other's stories is nice and often very helpful. This is a wonderful update. I do a tiktok journal and I agree I have to film alone, although I am working on pushing that barrier. I think it's the only way for me to let go of the masks. If I make a mistake I can edit in post, but if someone is watching I "need" to edit my speech instead of the video. I think you have some great ideas for future videos.

So glad that your wedding went well! Have you noticed a difference in how you think when you switch languages? You mentioned that in Italy your autism seems less problematic than in the US. I'm curious as to whether that's the people you're interacting with, the neurotypical culture in each place being different, or maybe the way memory stores events in different languages.

Congratulations on the new business. Sounds like you found a good niche. People will try and push the boundaries to try and get lower rates compared to the rest of the sector, given that you’ve stated one of your goals is affordability. Please look after yourself and keep some firm financial boundaries that you won’t exceed no matter the sob story. A suggestion on the people interaction burnout ( because I absolutely know I couldn’t do it). Is there any possibility of hiring someone to work in the shop doing the public facing hours for the two busiest days, this would leave you free to do online and phone calls and the other behind the scenes work and be on call for complicated tasks. You wouldn’t be so tired and would be working more efficiently, and would then perhaps not have to crash on Monday and Tuesday, which isn’t sustainable. Because what I’m hearing is that you aren’t getting what anyone else would term as a weekend, your crash and burn days are just recovering and not days where you can rest or recharge or contribute to your relationships, household or do something fun. And you certainly need some time reserved for being by yourself that everyone respects. I had people around me the whole of last week and by the end of it I would rather have pulled my toenails out than talked to anybody else no matter how much I love them.

OLIVIA!! Hello! So good to see your beautiful smiling face! I’m so sorry to hear about your dog and your struggles. My question for you is regarding your comment about Italy and your autism symptoms fading over there. Can you share why you feel so much better over there? I have the same feeling in England and in the Netherlands but I haven’t been able to articulate why to my husband. He doesn’t get it. I’m trying to convince him to go! I can’t explain my overwhelming NEED to go. I think it has to do with the ridiculously high expectations of people here and the societal changes overall in the last 10ish years. I just feel utterly lost and I’m constantly thinking about the past. Ugh. I’d really like to hear your thoughts on this!!! Thank you!
@OliviaHops6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! And as to why I feel better over there, it's something that I've thought a lot about. I can't say for SURE what it is, but I think it's multiple factors. One, their way of life over there. It's much more about actually enjoying life. It's slower paced. There's less pressure to be super successful at work. You get down time. Those are all things my brain needs. Another thing I think may contribute is the food. We eat so many chemicals and poison in the US. I can't help but wonder if that causes issues. Even if it just causes gut issues, the better your gut feels, the better you feel (normally, I think anyways). I feel like the people are friendlier. They will literally do anything for you. I also feel like there isn't as much pressure to have dumb small talk. These are just my experiences, but I think these definitely all play a role in why I feel better there. I hope this helps, and I hope your husband can maybe understand!

I totally understand where you're coming from... I have my own (tiny) YT channel, and even though I film so that (obviously) people will watch me, I never want people at home to be around when I'm filming b/c it always makes me feel self-conscious. Talk about an oxymoron, huh? Lol. I also had a small (micro) business that I spent a lot of time with last year, and I think I do want to get back to it, but it's taking me a long time to come back to it and discover HOW I want to come back to it. Gah... being on the spectrum definitely has its challenges. Congrats on your marriage/new business! Good for you! I'm definitely rooting for you & hope for your continued success!

I get the alone time especially when you want to video. I’m that way with playing my guitar and singing 🎶

Welcome back. There are no rules to doing and posting YT content. You should feel free to do whatever, whenever. Any of the content ideas are good ones. One day at a time.

Thank you! I always feel pressured to post weekly (not by my subscribers, but by KZbin and it's algorithms), so thanks for reminding me it's my channel and I can do what I please! I appreciate your support and patience!

When it comes to a new life update, I just wish I could telepathically tell the people in my life what’s going on. I don’t like to talk about new jobs until I feel certain about it, and my mom found out from my old principal about my new job in an unrelated case conference. Telling people in my life personal updates is my biggest weakness. 😅 That para social responsibility has got to be stressful I imagine.

Gosh, I wish that was a real thing! That would definitely be so much easier! Thanks for watching, Corben 😊

I had no idea that apartments don't come with kitchens in Europe. Does that mean no sink also?
@OliviaHops6 ай бұрын
Correct lol! There's literally nothing- no cabinets, no appliances, no lights. Just a room that is plumbed to hook up a sink and a gas stove.

@OliviaHops My husband would LOVE it! He's a chef. Setting up a kitchen from scratch would make him happy!

I want to know about your life! Thank you for making a video. Also I dont mind if you take a year off, two years off, or just stop making videos all together. When I dont hear from people, I used to think something was wrong with them or something, but now I just assume that people are living their lives and having the best time they can. Hopefully the trend of videos continues, but if not it will be totally fine!

Do you mind going into more detail about your experience in Italy and how that helped with being autistic?

Check out this video, I talk about it some: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKqXmWZofZWcjKc. It has been a while since I posted that and watched it, so I don't remember what I say lol so I'll add an update of the video to my list to make!

I think how you're dealing with being married would be a great video. I by way of a big miracle have been married 28 years. My second choice would be one as a business owner. I think hearing from a new business owner with Autism like myself would be very interesting. I'm sorry about Alex. If that happened to my Duncan I would be destroyed. It would take along time to recover. Anyway I hope you continue to be in good health and spirits.
