i deeply relate to your experience about feeling stuck and wanting to feel better faster! something that struck me and seriously improved my outlook was learning the philosophy “amor fati” or “love your fate”. basically it’s the practice of both Accepting AND Embracing everything that has happened to you, is currently happening, and everything that is yet to happen. the attitude being: everything that happens, including loss and suffering, in our lives is Good, or at the very least- Necessary- for growth. you cannot control what happens to you, but you can always control what you feel and do about what happens to you. ♥️

It took me 3 years with my therapist before I tried EMDR. I needed to build that level of trust, and hooooo boy. I cannot recommend it enough, BUT... it can bring up so much stuff, and after sessions you continue processing things and it can feel awful for a while, before you start healing from the things you uncover. I lost my Dad when I was 10, and a lot of my core issues I am almost embarrassed and ashamed to say, are from the mind of a child. Ashamed really only because if I had ever spoken those thoughts out loud any adult would tell me it wasn't true. They were really innocent and childish thoughts feelings and fears. Like "I killed my Dad by being bad." No, my Dad died of cancer. And that single thought manifested into so much pain for me - I am in my late 30's and only just in the last 5 years have I reclaimed myself. I finally do not feel like my mental health and emotions run my life. I take medication, I am in therapy regularly, but my emotions are so much more stable simply because I know WHY. I am able to flow through my feelings, even embracing when I feel negatively where as before I would be terrified of feeling bad, something must be wrong, so then I would overmedicate and slowly over the years became a shell. I decided to stop and do the work, and like I said it was hard, but on the other side of things now... so, so worth it.

I’ve NEVER seen anyone else who also lost their dad when they were 10. It’s so goofy. My sisters were 15 and 16 so their perspective of everything was SO much different than mine. I totally get what you’re saying. They kept me in the dark because I was a child but it hurt more. I had no answers. My dad was just gone to me. I hope to do this or something because I know so many issues for me manifested from his death and other stuff but that was monumental for me as a kid. cheers to wanting to be better and doing it fr. it is hard ass work🫶🏻

@@cloroxbleach8661 Yes, talking to both of my sisters they understood what was going on. Everything happened quickly, weeks from diagnosis to death - but my Mom and I spoke recently and she expressed disappointment in herself for not handling it right. For not explaining to me what was going on... but, especially as an adult I will never criticize my Mom about how she did anything. Me and my sisters all turned out functional which is amazing. lol Plus, I love my Mom so much, I was the "bad" child and she has loved me through all my phases. :) I hope you're able to work through feelings and emotions. It's not easy, but it is worth it. And I also do get sad thinking about him (he would have been 69 on the 9th!) but, I can see the silver lining as well. In truth, 10 years or 50 with him - I would always want more time. (Although I suuuure wish I had more then 10!) hehe

I can relate so much to your feelings. I lost my fiancé a few years ago. Drunk driving accident. I have had endless ppl ask me “how do you do it all on your own!!” My answer is always “when you don’t have a choice, you figure it out” ❤dating is exhausting. I agree. And just an interesting experience 😝
