I have nothing but the upmost respect and admiration for the men and women of the RNLI. Their motto " With courage, nothing is impossible " just about sums them up. Remember, the RNLI is funded by the public. So when you're down enjoying the beach, if you see a donation box, then please dig deep. You never know, it might be you who gets cut off by the tide who the yellow wellies come to rescue.

Not complaining and I agree but their motto is ''saving lives at sea''

@@Alyster_FuturePolice I think Sir William Hilary would disagree, but as long as the money goes in the pot, who cares. As a matter of fact, I've been at the Mudeford RNLI funday all day today. Really good turn out, helped I've no doubt by the beautiful weather. Everybody has got into it, including the Mudeford ferry crew who dressed up as pirates. ( your prices aren't that bad Paul lol)

Don't forget there were RNLI lifeboats ferrying troops off the beach at Dunkirk 1940, it was great to have them alongside at the ADLS Returns to Dunkirk held every five years.

You always seem to be in the right place at the right time. I’ve never thought about the tide being out and how they would get there boats in an out. But this is really interesting contraption. It’s clever. My brother got rescued by RNLI a few years ago in Norfolk when his 25 foot boat run out of fuel. But they were happy as he had a hot kettle of water for tea and coffee.

Like to see the transporter unit in heavy seas action and I wonder what sea states it can work in. Well done the RNLI and as an ex owner of a Dunkirk Little Ship that had a Lifeboat collection ship aboard the crews and helpers have a special place in my heart.

It's an all-weather lifeboat so the launch and recovery system can also operate in all weathers.

Great to watch this at St Ives. Seen it a couple of times, alway impresses. Fantastic work the volunteers do, you have to take your hat off to them.

Gone are the days with the Mersey we had to drag it up the beach and slide skids underneath the boat in the dark on a cold wet night definitely safer for the shore crew

Why is that rescue boat kept on land? Seems like it ha really slow response time to get it in the water.
@neilkipling91232 жыл бұрын
Some lifeboat stations can't be located in tidal waters unfortunately.
@CymruEmergencyResponder2 жыл бұрын
Keeping a lifeboat housed on land allows for constant maintenance to be carried out whilst protected from the weather. It also allows the boat to be launched at all states of the tide and in the most suitable location.

This is a demonstration. On a real shout our Shannon can be in the water on it's way in around 10 minutes after the request to launch has been sent by the Coastguard.
