Jurassic World did explain their mistakes though. The scientist said there were holes in the DNA which they filled with modern animal DNA, meaning they're not true dinosaurs.

People say that they can't handle a dinosaur with feathers because it's not cool and makes them look like chickens. Guess everyone forgot about falcons, Eagles, hawks, owls and other birds like them, they had feathers as well and are considered 'cool'.

RevengeRevisted: Chickens and other members of the Gallus family are actually genetically closer to the direct descendants of the birds around during the non-avian dinos' time, than a lot of other birds. Didn't go through as many changes. Still though, I hate that chickens always end up being the butt of jokes.

Life Noggin, we people in the vertebrate paleontology community already have a problem with people who still deny feathered dinosaurs so drawing another _T. rex_ to chicken comparison in this video didn't help. Additionally, I think people are sensationalizing discoveries too much. While it's true that the study cited finds that dinosaurs could have cooed and quacked, there are still a lot of paleontologists that I talk to who strongly think that dinosaurs could have still growled and roared like large terrestrial birds or crocodilians. Please stop making "Feathered dinosaurs are just big stupid birds" jokes if you're trying to be informative because it just doesn't help. EDIT : I just read the study on the "cooing dinosaurs" hypothesis which is actually Riede et al. (2016) and they make it explicitly clear in the paper that cooing was only suggested as an option for closed-mouth vocalizations. The same study does not discount the possibility of other forms of vocalization such as growling, roaring, hissing, or rumbling with the mouth open. I'm super disappointed in this video for deliberately leaving that out in order to garner more views. They even write in the study : "[...] Closed-mouth vocalizations represent only part of the vocal repertoire of the taxa in which they are present. We collected data on open- and closed-mouth vocalizations that are used specifically in courtship or territorial displays. Other calls in the vocal repertoire of birds (e.g., during begging by chicks; in aggressive encounters) typically are open-mouth vocalizations (Kilner 1997; Sainoet al. 2008)" Not once in the study do the authors argue that dinosaur vocalization was limited to cooing and quacking. They even mention towards the end of the paper that vocalization and frequency is probably heavily affected by body size and that non-avian dinosaurs may have made more sounds than simply coos and quacks. Riede et al. (2016) even go as far as to suggest that open-mouth vocalizations related to territorial and aggressive behavior may have been different. Crocodyliformes and large birds are capable of roaring and growling so simply based on phylogenetic proximity and parsimony, non-avian dinosaurs most probably could have roared and growled when necessary, be it during territorial or aggressive behavior. I will reiterate, I find it disappointing and dishonest that you deliberately misinterpreted and misrepresented Riede et al.'s study.

The Velociraptors in Jurassic Park were based off of the dinosaur Deinonychus, but Spielberg thought Velociraptor sounded cooler. It's misleading to just say that they were the size of small dogs when the Deinonychus were about the same size as depicted in the movie.
@Devedrus
@Devedrus 7 жыл бұрын
Ben- Errant On top of that Michael Creighton was actually workingoff a paper that was published while writing Jurassic Park that claimed all dromeosaurs should be considered in the genus Velociraptor (Paul, Gregory S. (1988). Predatory Dinosaurs of the World. New York: Simon and Schuster. pp. 464pp. ISBN 978-0671619466.) The paper was subsequently torn apart by the scientific community. The intention was, of all things, trying to be more scientifically accurate.

I hate it when people make out as if dinosaurs were just big chickens, they can be just as intimidating with feathers, in fact it makes it much more interesting to have texture and possibly various colour patterns than just boring lizard skin. When everyone conflates them as giant chickens it just muddies the water.

Actually, no. Most of the theropods had feathers. NONE of the ankylosauruses or brachiosauruses and such had any feathers at all. They had scales and plates. And they haven't found a single feather on the T-Rexes yes. They might have had feathers on their backs, but not the whole body. Stay updated please.

the chair is back, but renji won - there are a multitude of reasons why the dinosaurs died off, most of them being evolution of other animals. bugs with diseases that would kill Dino's eventually came around and the Dino's had no way of fighting them off, their tails are too long and too thick to shoo away a bug mid spine or higher and a lot of them had front legs too short to reach their head. Couple the short front legs with thick bottom legs and I'm doubtful they could scratch like a dog, but I could be wrong here. Dino's had a lot of their environment change very quickly and they couldn't adapt, thus extinction. it happens to every species that can't adapt.

Studies dating back to around 2015 have shown that larger dinosaurs like the t-Rex probably wouldn’t have feathers or at least very small amounts as fossils have shown large sections of the neck and chest areas on t-rexes and closely related carnivores. This is further supported by the lack of necessity for feathers due to the t-rex’s size and habitat.

When I picture a T. rex, I picture a birdlike lizard with 6 inch teeth, man-sized arms, great eyesight, black coloring, short and hairlike feathers on parts of its back, bright, orange ridges above its eyes, and finally, whatever that chicken waddle is called. And it makes low frequency sounds that shake up your backbone. And its teeth get covered up by lizard/mammal lips so that they don't dry out. Something about Velociraptors: Due to being small, you wouldn't be able to see one sneaking up on you before it is too late! It would pounce on your head facehugger style, then rip your neck open.

Assuming dino-to-bird-evolution is even true in the first place. Further, dinosaurs do have scales and scutes like crocodiles and lizards, and dinosaurs already are dragons, since it's just the same thing with different names.
@Rune_Scholar
@Rune_Scholar 5 жыл бұрын
Some dinosaurs had scales and scutes. Most if not all therapods had feathers in some form and distribution. Many ornithischians had feathers or quills and sauropods probably had quills down the neck and back. Ceratopsians probably had some back and tail quills but were otherwise scaled. Members of Nodosauridae were probably entirely scaled and scuted. Dinosaur to bird evolution is as much fact as gravity. A better way to look at it is that birds are actually still dinosaurs. All those young earth creationsits got one thing right. Humans did walk alongside dinosaurs. In fact we still do. Just the smaller avian ones.

[Sp4rk] Pr3h1st0r1cPlayz I wouldn't say bringing dinosaurs back, per se. It would mainly just be genetically modifying an existing species to the point of its behavior and appearance close to a dinosaur.

[Sp4rk] Pr3h1st0r1cPlayz I don't think you'd get enough DNA from a fossil to really change much though. Do you have any links to information?

[Sp4rk] Pr3h1st0r1cPlayz you can't even get DNA because of how old it is. scientists have stated this many times but if they took it out of a mosquito that's been fossilized with a special REALLY SPECIAL machine then they might be able to do it. they would need the special machine to get the DNA because it expires right when it comes out

[Sp4rk] Pr3h1st0r1cPlayz But the thing is, would you even be able to find a dinosaur that isn't fossilized?

i'm sure a video that says everything we know about dinosaurs is wrong would surely use "T. rex" instead of "T-rex"

Velociraptor was not just likely to have feathers, they totaly had, but T rex is another story, a big dino like them can be depicted naked or with a little bit of fluf and both can be correct

2:37 reminds me of a dream I had about how the world and global warming got so bad, you could see how the air was vibrating from heat and the volcanoes were all erupting at once. The streets were filled with lava and fire, it looked like hell!! Then, if you were still alive, it got really cold from the smoke and ash that was in the atmosphere, and the previous heat caused the ice caps the melt, and everything was flooded, like the water was as tall as a two story house. I was holding on to my bed when the world was flooded, and the last thing I saw before I stopped breathing (and some up gasping) was this old man with blue eyes sitting serenely on a rooftop, smiling sadly. i Was Crying.

I think mainly therapods had feathers. Maybe certain hadrosaurs too. I highly doubt there were feathers on sauropods, ankylosaurs, stegosaurs, ceratopsians, or dimetradons.

Bob Cat Yeah, it was mostly theropods who had them, But it’s likely that the ancestor of all dinosaurs was feathered (more like fuzzy) this is of course, assuming that the Pycnofibres in pterosaurs were homologous (of common descent) to dinosaurian fuzz and more advanced feathers.

Bob Cat I believe Ankylosaurus would have some "protofeathers" around it's body kinda like an armadillo
