Negative, ported would do that. These play to 5 hz at an incredible spl, measured 115 db at 5-7 hz in room. Anything 10 hz and above was well over 120 up to 130 db. You'd lose out on your ULF with a ported enclosure under the port tune. These large woofers have so much output due to their size that porting is not really necessary to get high spl

@gtoutdoors1197 Coastal Cali is like that. Full of complete fakes and people waiting to become someone instead of living in the present. Warren Zevon even wrote a song about it "Empty Hearted Town". As for neighbor issues - Ridgebacks are amazing dogs, but they need exercise! Very high energy dogs, and not good for city life. But the better story here is how I had a upstairs neighbor back in college who wasn't even 5' and maybe 90# soaking wet. Literally sounded like dribbling bowling balls on my ceiling... So she has this party on a Tuesday night. I have a final the next morning. I went to kindly ask them to be quieter at 0230, which was met with mockery and rudeness. Needless to say, my request fell on deaf ears. So I stopped caring too. 😁 Only my not caring came with 400w of Crown PA amp power pushing 115dB through two 12" subs in a 350sf apartment. I'd watch movies full volume all night, jam out to gangster rap - whatever I felt like. Because my apartment bordered the utility room on one wall and halls on the other 2. I'd sealed the door with weather stripping and floor sweeps (inside and out), and I could play pretty darn loud without hearing it in the hall. Upstairs, not so much. 🤣 She came down in tears one night around 0100. Begging me to stop. I said "Payback's a bitch" and slammed the door in her face. It was glorious. I kinda wonder what happened to her? I still have that amp and subs 20 years later, and I hope she still hates me. lol

JTR, you have been dethroned.
@tkcdac Жыл бұрын
I love Kyles content for sure. I priced out the GSG flat packs, subs, and amplifier. I would have saved $600 dollars of a JTR purchase from a friends used offering of his JTR 4000ULF. However, that cost did not include the build costs for equipment or the understanding that the sub was perfectly tuned to the enclosure for me. I wasn't willing to take that build risk to try an unknown, when I know the JTR's performance before buying. Currently have 2 x 4000ULF's and I am not sure how more is better at this point in my room. Bigger and more is better, just not sure at this point. I am worried that anything over 18's may simply... crack the concrete basement.
@LifeofBliss Жыл бұрын
JTR and SI are very capable subwoofers... like @tkcdac said, it probably boils down to preference and ability to build your own enclosures. With GSG and SI now both offering built enclosures, it makes it much easier to jump into the HS-24 game.

There are plenty of demos on my previous videos of them in my theater. I go over the spl graphs and show what it's doing. This was showing their newer CF design and boxes. Interestingly enough, a lot of people care about the new looks. Find someone local with a 24 for a demo. Sound clips on youtube are pretty pointless
