Burch, that was my Ebay Review with issues. You have to trim more material from the slot that goes under the tank. They inject the mold there and the flashing prevents the seat from sliding forward far enough. I posted about it on the SCL500 facebook group with pics.

Thanks for your videos on the CL500 dude! I've just bought one myself (first bike!!!) and binge watched the whole bunch lol! I am an absolute beginner and can't even turn a spanner, but would absolutely love to see you install a headlight grill to complete the look! Or even staple a leather cover on the stock seat!! Been thinking of these two as my first two mods to get my feet wet. Subscribed btw... 🦾

Love these reviews, especially if they don't match up with the promises 😂 small question, would you recommend the rebel 1100 or the SCL500 more for a tall beginner rider? Keep up the vids!
@LifeOfBurch6 ай бұрын
Ooo that’s a loaded question cause it depends on a lot of things. A couple weeks ago I put out a video comparing the SCL500 to the Rebel 500, and then one of my most viewed videos is about whether the Rebel 1100 is a good beginner bike or not. I’d say to check out both of those videos and you’ll get much more out of it than I could ever type here lol BUT with that said, hearing “tall beginner” my initial reaction would be the SCL500 🤘🏻
@Thoemazzzz6 ай бұрын
@@LifeOfBurch Thanks mate, I'll make sure to check both those vids out before making a choice. Indeed at first glance I'm leaning towards the SCL500 because of it's height mainly but never say never right.

I have the rebel cmx 500 and had to change the seat as the Original seat has the round bar coming between the front seat at the back and between the back seat , I got a Frend to get me one on Amazon and it fitted perfectly but not the tool kit , it was only £130 and came from Vietnam and I am very pleased with it .

Cheap eBay parts will always be what they are. I’m always shocked when those in the industry don’t support long established quality brands especially with important areas like seats and levers. The China stuff truely is junk 99% of the time. Corbin is so worth the double they charge

If the quality of the new seat cover looks decent enough, swap it onto the OEM seat (and maybe add a little more foam?) to get the diamond stitched cover you like so much on the seat pan that actually fits on the bike. I mean, you have already paid for it, so maybe worth a try.
@LifeOfBurch6 ай бұрын
I actually thought about that! There’s also a company Cheeky Seats who makes really nice seat covers for Navis, Groms, and other minimotos, and I was thinking about seeing if they’d get into the SCL500 market 🤔

@MotoDash11006 ай бұрын
Honda has the CL500 (and apparently a few other engine sizes according to the eBay post) and the SCL500. It doesn't make tons of sense that the seats would have molding differences/tooling differences in terms of making the seat, but they could. CL500 is the same bike just overseas, SCL500 is the "Stateside CL" if you want to think it that way (something something CL500 was already a trademarked name in the U.S , Mercedes I think??)
@LifeOfBurch6 ай бұрын
Yea it’s definitely pretty off, but it’s listed as being designed for my bike. As MotoDash said, it would be strange for Honda to make drastic changes to the 250/300 variations of this bike to where the seats would be different. But either way, on their listing it says it’s compatible with my bike so who knows? In their video everything under the seat looks identical to mine too, even the same hump thing where the seat latches that was interfering with my seat.

5:00 if your seat ever comes loose, you can use some RokStraps to tension the seat down and keep it in place. .... toooootallly didn't have to do that because Seat Concepts uses fragile plastic for their mounting points or anything.. toooootalllly not based off true story. (HOW EXPENSIVE CAN METAL WASHERS INDENTED INTO PLASTIC MOUNT POINTS COST?!)

@LifeOfBurch yeah... on the replacement KLR650 (1998 model I bought to replace the totaled one) I forgot the front brakes didn't work on it (Facebook Finds amirite?) and after a 20ish mph lowside I see my new seat is now a new lawn ornament. At least RokStraps hold my seat (and my life) together haha. Everything from fastening a seat to the frame rails, holding a leg in the air for hours at a time, holding down jankily mounted milk crates and pizza boxes, the small one even doubling up as a helmet holder on my backpack, RokStraps are stupidly versatile. .. I was listing things off and almost forgot that I used them to even tension down tree limbs on a tree I was cutting for my mother. They did even an okay job at making sure tree limbs fell down where I wanted (read: not the neighbor's car roof 20 feet away, and not the powerlines less than 2 feet away).

I looked at this bike even though I had about decided on the Kawasaki Eliminator SE (2024, same color). I like everything about yours except the seat. It was so uncomfortable that I immediately got off of it. It was hard as a rock, had no padding or contour and felt funny between my legs; it just felt generic. I wouldn't have to change anything about the Eliminator and it was so comfortable, there was no comparison. The price was great (about the same, but the Honda was on sale), but the seat was an immediate deal breaker. The right foot peg situation is rather awkward too, but I didn't give it a chance by trying it. I think if you can go without it a few days, it makes sense to me to take the OEM off, pad it and recover it yourself. It would be one-of-a-kind and fit just for your own butt. Oh, speaking of, let us know if you get that paid wet butt channel; I'd join!.
@LifeOfBurch6 ай бұрын
Interesting! I’ve never minded the comfort of the stock SCL500 seat personally. I can’t really remember what the Eliminator seat was like since it’s been about a year since I rode it though. Definitely both rad bikes either way! And I’ll be sure to keep you updated about the paid wet butt side gig 😂😂😂
@floridaredneck5 ай бұрын
@@LifeOfBurch I haven't tried a whole lot of bikes; I'm kinda picky and I don't ride other guy's bikes. But, the Eliminator seat is a lot like the Rebel. The pegs aren't as far front and the gas tank doesn't tilt up like a Rebel, but the seat looks and feels very similar and in that cruiser style. Like a bucket seat in an old Mustang, it just fits. Better suited for one, although I would never carry a passenger on a bike personally anyhow. That bike was $7,249 when it came out last year (2024 model). Had to push it to try to get get one under $7000, but interest rates were a monster so I've waited for a reduction. You can get one now for $5,400. I'm glad I waited; I remember I got turned down for my offer of $6,500 in February. I knew they would go down pretty fast after the new year because the SE only comes in one color - orange. I neither liked nor disliked it at the time, but it was rather shocking. But, it grew on me real fast and now strangely, I don't care for any other color. It's easier to be seen on too. The good thing is many people would simply not buy an orange bike, so they'll probably hang around a few more months before I have to worry about availability. Okay, technically it's a black bike, only trimmed in orange. I should get a discount on the wet butt channel, being one of the fist to sign up and all! 🙃
