Testing done years ago by Gordon Jennings at Cycle showed that stock paper filters are far superior for actually filtering air compared to the so called high performance filters that need to be cleaned and reoiled. A clean engine is a long lasting engine. Using a high flow filter that doesn't filter out grit as effectively is a good way to have a prematurely worn out engine. This is well known by lubrication experts.

@Kent Gabrielson I thought one could brake into the closed loop wirh the wideband2 staying on the bike. In this case you would not need the O2 sensor eliminator from Smart Moto. All the others here seem to ignore this closed loop/O2-sensor problem wich is bit weird to me because the rebel runs almost always in closed loop.
@TheRebel1100Life Жыл бұрын
@@larifari4371 With the new LAF O2 sensors(narrowband) on the Honda Euro 5 bikes what will happen is the widebrand2 will fight back and forth with LAF sensor in the closed loop, so won't be able to adjust to better AFR than 14.7 + - error. I was only able to really adjust 0% throttle all the way through rpm and 80%-100% through rpm. This was the only open loop areas. Also, the Euro 5 LAF sensor use fluctuating voltage to detect issue with LAF sensor, so the old O2 eliminator trick of using a device to simulate constant voltage will trigger a CEL on the Rebel. I wish there was an ECU flash tuner for the Rebel, so many more advantages than a piggy back system. With that said the PC 6 with a little adjusting AFR at 0% throttle makes a world of difference to throttle response.

@@TheRebel1100Life THX, wow, that is extremly interesting! So your WB2 could do effectively nothing but the Power Commander can at least have influence at 80-100 and more importantly 0% throttle all RPM, so engine braking can be really really reduced - did I get this right? This could in fact already explain the "world of difference" you discribe. You're giving me hope man :-)) Well, at least some. I would be extremly grateful if you could post your %- of change values you wrote into your PC6 in the 0-throttle columm. Would also help others who are going serios with the power comander of corse. I’ve never looked into Craftride products so I can’t say honestly, but I’ve heard that their seats are high quality for what it’s worth. I personally just got some Burly Brand sliders. I just don’t like the looks of any engine guards for these things so far, but the Burly Brand sliders are sleek and understated so I like them. I’d like to get engine guards at some point, but I’m waiting for ones that aren’t an eyesore. Wait…a smaller front sprocket will lower your top speed, not raise it. Unless when you say “speed” you mean how quick it gets up to speed 🤔
@neondeception22 жыл бұрын
@@LifeOfBurch That's what I thought, but I was told it helps top speed too. I'll see after it comes and I install it. It was only $17 shipped. So I won't be out much if I don't like it.

The Africa Adventure bike has the same engine however it has 105 Horsepower and 30 more pounds of torque ! So just upgrade your Rebel to the Africa bike standards

Have you plugged it in to a computer and checked how big the adjustments are in the base map?

Do you have any options for a reflash? I've been looking around and can't find any, and im not very nice on plugs and cosmetics so I'm avoiding ousting more wires in.

Which screws are needed for the DNA High Performance Air Filter? The video says the stock ones will not work. You should likely add that info to the more section above.
@TheRebel1100Life Жыл бұрын
You just have to push hard down on them with a screw driver while turning or slow speed drill with Philips bit and the rubber of the filter will expand enough to get the screws in.
@LifeOfBurch Жыл бұрын
I don’t know what I got or else I would’ve included that info. Just went to hardware store and found something with the same thread pitch and length, but smaller head 🤷🏼♂️ I think they were some kind of self tapping screws.

Dynojet provides sufficient information to see that the Power Commander for the Rebel 1100 with the map Birch rode has absolutly NO effect on any throttle position lower than 100%. Only in the full throttle mode (ONLY here!) the Power Commander does start at 4500 U/min (NOTHING below!) with some minor changes. The worst thing however is that any changes you might do to the map with the PC in the area lower than 80% throttle will be undone automatically in real time by the closed loop of the rebel. Means the lambda piece detects the fuel enrichment of a altered Power Commander map and compensates for that immidiatly, this way lowering the fueling levels to where the emission laws want them to be (and not where the power is).
@Synthwave8922 күн бұрын
That sucks. Seems like a ECU flash is the way to go
@larifari43713 күн бұрын
@Synthwave89 yep! But I know nobody who does it on the rebel. They hacked the africa twin but the rebel needs different codes. The speed limit can get undone and you can even add rpm and power in the high revs BUT only where the lambda closed loop does not interfere. This is a real bummer. Please post when you find someone who undoes the lambda stuff ( like they did for the AT).

Do you have to get it professionally tuned after installing the power commander?

Curious if you think I would get the same results something out the DCT?
@williamcoulter54622 жыл бұрын
I did my DNA filter earlier this year but as I kept the stock exhaust I did not need to adjust anything just do a DCT reset. DNA said if you do both the air and exhaust you would need a power commander as the fueling and timing would be out. I get better throttle response as the engine can now breath better and because I did not change the exhaust I do not have any fueling problems. I have DNA filters on both my DCT 700s and my Rebel 1100 and fit them to my cars when they are available.

How much of what you’re feeling do you think is from the air filter ? Do you think it’s mostly the power commander making those changes ?
@LifeOfBurch2 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to say honestly. The increase in smoothness and rideability is for sure the Power Commander, but it’s hard to say how much of the throttle response/power came from the Power Commander vs the air filter.
