I have the same phone as you. Bought the Speck Candy Shell case. Military tested and much thinner than Otterbox. Totally love it.

I got the droid turbo too was looking ant this case thanks for the heads up guy
@jdsk8er989 жыл бұрын
The two holes you see in the case are for the Kevlar version. And I think also there are mics in the nylon version too, you just can't see them.
@LEOretired10 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'll take that case off my list for consideration
@Danny_Joiner9 жыл бұрын
Everything about the case is good except the sound being muffled. What I did was cut two strips of black electrical tape long enough to cover the length of the phone from the top left to the top right of the phone. The width of each strip is around 1/8 inch. I placed each strip on top of each other to get the correct thickness. I then placed the strips on the edge face of the phone, directly above the speakers almost touching them. When you put the case together, this tape creates a barrier for the sound to travel. Since its on the edge and under their face plate, you can't see or feel the tape.

There actually ARE 2 very tiny holes in the place on the back of the phone, where you say there is nothing.
@Benjack969 жыл бұрын
When I saw the first minute of the vid I thought: this case is for the kevlar version because on my kevlar version it has 2 holes for the back microphone on the bottom back side of the phone. The only real flaw I saw here is the speakers on the top front side.

There are microphones! That's what them vents are for. My droid turbo has two mics there +The Amp Lab

I have to agree with you. The sound reproduction with this lifeproof case is horrible. I have a samsung galaxy s3 with a lifeproof case and the speaker is much better. My sons have iphone 5 C's with lifeproof cases and the sound is much better. both the iPhone and the s3 case made by lifeproof have speaker vents.

My Lifeproof finally failed after almost a year of a brutal environment. The rubber around the volume control would no longer articulate the phone's control. When I split the case open to investigate I found the problem mentioned earlier but the phone literally looked exactly as it did new when it went into the case. I never had an issue with the sound, the phone sounds the same in the case as it does now outside the case. These reviews that haven't even tested the product are ridiculous. I'm looking for a Lifeproof to replace my last one and having trouble locating one. My phone is a Motorola Droid Turbo 2. My advice to this author...design your own case.

You realize that there are microphone holes in back in the red droid turbo? Make some reaserch before talking
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
I do... has nothing to do with the issue at hand though, just an over site. There are mic holes is the back of ALL of the Droid Turbos, so take you're own advice before talking.

The RED/Black Kevlar Droid Turbo and the BLACK BALLISTIC NYLON are 2 different phone in outside dimensions. Check out 10 different cases on Amazon and they'll specify wether the case will fit the Ballistic Nylon OR the Kevlar backed phones. Even Aero Armor which sells inexpensive cases differentiates between the 2 after several people complained their cases didn't fit the Ballistic Nylon version. So it very well may be the samples given out to case manufacturers were the Kevlar versions. Maybe Motorola doesn't want people to cover up this beautiful device.
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
Otter Box doesnt specify which one, and it fits my Ballistic nylon version just fine though.

I've had a lifeproof case with iphone and if you really want to hear your people open the door to the USB and you can still play games and music
@RomeoOhRomeo9 жыл бұрын
don't buy the lifeproof, my turbo's touchscreen just broke (it didn't shatter, just doesn't respond ) when it fell from like 3 feet off the ground. the case didn't protect it from the impact. called lifeproof to complain and they said they aren't responsible. bull crap. don't buy lifeproof.
@PlatinumEagleStudios9 жыл бұрын
Mine works just fine. I have it for the iPhone 5 [C] and it holds up great. I dropped it from like 3 to 4 feet and did a water test after and it still works. You may not have installed it correctly. Mine is awesome I love it and will take lots of underwater pictures and video with it too

Yeah your right brudda, just got my life proof case for my droid turbo 2 and the active display doesn't work at all. I still like the case though. Can't wait to go under water with it.

if you blow into the headphone jack and then seal the headphone jack while blowing air in you will not get the muffle anymore.
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
Yeah that seems like a great design. lol They could have just put vents in the right place. It's a terrible design flaw, straight and simple and I'm not going to spend money on a poor design.

Okay So playing with the case I discovered (which some may have already) that the problem is the Built in screen protector. Its sucking itself to the speaker and there fore muffles it. Don't believe me? Blow into the aux port lightly when your phone is playing music. My first phone I placed inside the case with the stock screen protector and it sounded great. Thoughts??
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
I would agree with that. a vent in that location would solve the issue though.
@Assimilator70210 жыл бұрын
Return that crap case. Get a few UAG cases and a few Spigens. Get a nice glass screen protector and you're good to go for the same amount of money.

My turbo has 2 mics on the back. I have the 32gb ballistics. Maybe its just your phone? I also can hear people just fine with my phone and case.
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
You are correct, I do see the tiny mic holes now. But the sound output is so horrible I couldn't stand it. My callers were complaining as well. I tried taking it off and re-attaching it a bunch of times. Nothing helped. :-/

rtkota5point9 I just received my lifeproof case from Verizon yesterday and I love it. No muffled sounds or anything. I called a couple friends and left a VM on my home phone and it was perfect. Even played a youtube video. only complaint is the buttons are too close to case. IF there is a sound difference its very small.
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
I can't see how that's possible with no vents for speaker. that's like putting your hands over your ears and saying there's no difference. I'm uploading a video now of the difference with and without.
@joshmatthews345010 жыл бұрын
rtkota5point9 Did you ever upload that? I'm considering the case just because it's so cool they made a case for a phone that isn't an iphone or galaxy. Some people say it's totally fine, other people complain about the sound & the buttons.
@TheAmpLab10 жыл бұрын
I took the video. I will upload tonight. mine has been shipped back. I tried it again and couldn't stand it. It had to go.

Terrible comment...They are special vents there buddy. The case has vents. They just left one out for the speaker.

They are special diaphrams that let sound enter and exit, but not water.
