Thank you for the tip. We were going to scrap the roof, scab the beams the whole nine with the rubber and all. I think we will give Flex Seal a try. Did you scrap your roof first? We have a 96 Allegro we are renovating. Yours is obviously newer and look like a fiberglass or hard top
@LifesSweetJourney2 жыл бұрын
You bet! Glad you found the video helpful. Ours is a 2011 Keystone Cougar. Original roof was EPDM. We did not scrap the roof, but did make sure to clean it well and then let it completely dry before we did the reseal. Here's a video of the full process (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6qmmWCpjcmdq80). Best of luck and let us know if you have any other questions!!

Definitely as much, if not more maintenance than a house, depending on elements and how much you travel. Some roads are super rough on the rig. Thank goodness for Flex Seal!

There's a rubber wheel attachment for a drill that they say takes off decals very well. Is flex shot paintable? If not, how does one remove it?
@LifesSweetJourney Жыл бұрын
Hmmm! I will have to look into that. Thanks!! And we painted over the Flex Shot, but only with Flex Seal rubber liquid, so I can't speak personally for how it would look with regular paint over it, but I would think it should paint fine. They do have different colors of Flex Shot though if needed. And you should be able to remove it with the adhesive remover and a scraper if needed. We haven't tried that yet though as we haven't needed to remove it for any reason.

Have y’all used a thin strip of the flex seal tape to run along the bottom where the skirting and the flares over the tires meet the fiberglass?
@LifesSweetJourney Жыл бұрын
We have not, but that's a really good idea!! May do that next.
@davedurham9591 Жыл бұрын
I’m curious if the tape would hold up better that a bead of silicone. Would be a bit of work to cut the longer thin strips but I imagine it would be more flexible and last longer than a bead of silicone. Do y’all know if they make thin strips? Maybe 1 inch??
@LifesSweetJourney Жыл бұрын
@@davedurham9591 I don't think so, but it's pretty easy to cut down if needed.

That is excellent. Thank you, I just got a 92' Dutchmen Classic and yeah it needs repairs. I am not moving around, I have it parked on a friends property and will probably leave it here if I move and just buy another RV, something DEFINITELY NEWER.....My black tank is leaking and it's gross, not a lot of money, but about to try the flex tap with flex spray over it.
@LifesSweetJourney2 жыл бұрын
YES! We did that on our black tank. Has a small leak from constant pulling from the lever that had loosened near the valve leading into the tank. Definitely need the spray on top for the black tank (at least we did). Hopefully it will hold well for you!!

Unless I’m mistaken, FlexSeal products are silicone based, or at least they used to be. In that case there’s a HUGE problem: if you have to take the product out for any reason (say, changing a skylight) it would be IMPOSSIBLE to have anything else to adhere to the surface, no matter how well you clean. Seriously, nothing else…
@TheSlowburnsteve Жыл бұрын
Why would you not use the correct product for a real repair? That stuff has no u/v blockers and will fail. An eyrnabond type product or and actual fiberglass repair is the correct way to fix that.
@LifesSweetJourney Жыл бұрын
It worked really well for us. The tape has held really well for over 3 years and still going strong. The liquid rubber says UV resistant and so far the reseal is also holding up really well at 2 years in. Here was the recent check in and everything pretty much same as the day we resealed- kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGTQeKyLqdSbetE We sit in the Florida sun as well. We were just doing quick fix, replacing the whole fiberglass is a lot more time and cost intensive. We were living in it full time and couldn't have our home in the shop. Using the tape kept us on the road and kept the elements out so we're happy with everything so far! Will look into the fiberglass repair in the future though. Hopefully we won't have any more major run ins with electrical outlets though lol
@christophersherratt72992 жыл бұрын
If you don't want to get a new lid top the one with tape on it you can brush some resin on it use blue tac think you call it poster putty to stop the runs then same again on side gaffer tape is just as good was designed by NASA
