Nice channel!! Just found it and have poked around looking for a place to ask a question with no luck so I'll try here. Is you 4Runner a TRD Pro? I think I saw that badge on the left rear C pillar? Other than the snorkel, and tires what mods have you done to it? I'm leaning toward getting a 5th gen. Did I see a hint you are dropping the 4runner for a Comanche in the next season of videos? Why did you choose a 4runner over a FJ or Tacoma? I can only have one vehicle so it has to be able to do everything OK. I don't think I will be as hardcore as you re: off roading but I'd still want to get off the beaten path. Any factory package in 4 runner you'd recommend for someone who doesn't have the time and skills to do his own mods. Thanks for your time and expertise.

@@timhardman4764 Thanks, Tim! Welcome to the channel! It's a 2014 Trail Edition, nothing fancy but came with the locker. No, we will probably never have a Comanche. We chose the 4Runner for its perfect size to storage ratio. Couldn't see out of the FJ. Tacoma has zero leg room in the back seat. I'll be doing a full walk around video of it soon and talk about the mods. 130k of hard use and we still love it!

Warms my heart to see that you went into this area. Though I live in the lower 48 (N. Cal.), I did two backpacking trips new near the north face of Denali (Wonder Lake area) back in the day; got married on one of those trips; and climbed Denali where I had my 31st birthday half way up the mtn. Summited on day #30 (some serious bad weather!). Fast forward 30 something years, and I am now recently retired and we have grandkids and life is good. You'll never forget this adventure. But I am sure that you know that. Subscriber, Geologyjohn

Used to stop at Paxon Lodge and have some awesome burgers at the end of fishing/hunting trips. One year coming back from Valdez (we lived in North Pole) we came across a guy about 50 miles south of Paxon carrying a king salmon on the side of the road, he was Japanese. He had gone off into the ditch with his rental car and was walking through copious brown bear territory. I remember dad making him sit in the camper on the floor, he stank so bad, only to drop him off at Paxon Lodge at the pay phone. Dad said, "not my problem anymore, glad he didn't get mauled." Great video, brought back a flood of memories. Tangle Lakes, if you go down a few of the "rapids" (they're not bad) the fishing is insanely good, at least it was in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

Ever since KZbin exploded with people having great channels and I got into overland, I agree with you. People should try and go out and explore. I have a guy who work at my job. Worked hard and bought himself his one and first brand new Chevy Silverado 4x4 at the age if 42. He is married with teenagers. He is a modest guy and he is very proud of himself of working hard to buy a brand new car with a tight budget, he takes his kids every summer to state parks across the country. They camp a lot along the way to save money. I mean, this guy will be on the road for like almost 3 weeks from Texas to Yellowstone and back and he will tell me how much he spent for the whole trip and I am amazed. I think people should try and go out and explore. No matter your budget what you drive. Tailor it to your comfort and go out and have fun. Whether in a bicycle, a motorcycle, a Honda Civic, a Jeep or a Sprinter. Whatever you own, make the best if it snd go out and explore. Life is truly short and you have only 1 life to live.

I have a favorite camping spot off the Denali Highway that I've been going to for over forty years. Man many years ago I took that same road to the mine in a 1974 F-100 4x4. Didn't get stuck but there were some hairy moments. We sorta stuck our necks out a little too. Nice video, and you're right. It's spectacular in sunny weather. Last August I camped at Clearwater Creek and that night, watched one of the best northern light shows that i've seen in a long time
