When the parents discriminate or misbehave with the domestic helps, they are indirectly teaching their children how to treat people who are lower in the socio-economic hierarchy.

This is so so relatable. I use to do this right after my marriage because I have seen this from childhood my mother doing this. She loves our maid but somehow she creates this kind of wall between . I use to do the same thing after marriage and thats when my husband just blasted me for this. He said one line I still remember. He said " We are also English speaking servants wearing corporate clothes in offices, thats the only difference between our maid and us. otherwise we are just the same"

Good video and good reminder to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. But we must also remember that treating someone with respect is not the same as tolerating their disrespectful behavior. You maid is your employee and you treat them like one, not as your slave and not as your friend. Your boss at work treats you with respect but he remains your boss and you must do the work he expects and pays you to do. He need not become your friend, but he cannot be a bully. The same principle should apply to your own staff, maid or drive or cook.

I am a student of Vikram University pursuing my master's degree in social work . I chose this short film for my audio visual assignment and skill laboratory ( 3rd sem ) , which is guided by my mentor Dr. Manisha Chorey ma'am . This is really a very heart touching short film that beautifully depicted how the financial status of a person decides his or her respect and value in the society. The best part of the story is when the mother realizes that both her daughter and the maid have the same feelings and emotions regardless of their social status and if they do not take proper precautions then they both can catch the cold . Discrimination on any basis is unacceptable and should neither be practiced nor be tolerated . At the end I would like to say that not just being aware of such bad practices is enough but we also need to teach our families and relatives that such practices of discrimination are not good for our society and should be avoided. Lastly I would like to thank my guide Dr. Manisha Chorey ma'am who gave me the opportunity to work on such a productive assignment .
