Just built mine and had to use a Tailon sc50-100 cylinder as the one you used seems to no longer be available. Mine uses a 4 inch stroke, which seems.more than enough. Requires a cooresponding pivot that screws onto the base and the yoke is bigger than the one in the video.
@GarageFab Жыл бұрын
Thank you for that, Dennis! I noticed the one I used vanished. Very frustrating. I’ll pin your comment. It might help someone! I’d love to see yours!
@FrankAustinLowney2 ай бұрын
Following your example I, too, bought the Tailon sc50-100 cylinder. Did you have to fabricate the pivot or can this piece be bought off the shelf? How did you deal with the larger yoke? I have all of the other Tailon pieces listed in the MK shopping list (foot pedal and pressure regulator) Mine will probably be a little different looking because I will attempt to use the Eastwood S/S stand that I already had, the one that mounts in a vice. TIA for your kind replies.

@GarageFab2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Brother! I’ve got a confession to make. A couple actually. One: The truck in the intro is only a digital rendering of my next project. It’ll be a complete rebuild of a truck I built years ago that was destroyed in a hit and run. You can see what it once looked like, TPI and all, in the first serious KZbin video I made. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4rTgXl5g7Kdf5Y Two: I recently changed plans and the TPI won’t be coming back. I’m excited to reveal the new plans soon. The TPI might be going into an old 30s Chevy truck if I can get my old boss to sell it to me. We’ll see how that one goes.

So I just wanted to let you know I took this idea and ran with it. I have two separate air cylinders controlled by electric air solenoids into separate pedals. I'm extremely pleased with the results. And with the adjustable PSI in the way I built mine I have adjustable heim joints much like a tie rod. I built it in such a manner because the cylinders I had already were limited travel about 7in to be exact. So you could either screw-in or screw out the tie rod the adjust for thicker metal and I'm extremely pleased with the results. 👌 Thanks again for the inspiration. 🤟

you can get spring extend or spring retract cylinders as well. the spring is internal. only need air to move it in one direction..... :)

Interesting. I’d like to see one of those. Do they work quickly?

I have that same set of mac carbide de-burring bits and I really like them.

I’m very pleased… With the tools. My Mac guy vanished so I can warranty one of my broken bits! 😩
@RobertsVintageGardenTractors2 жыл бұрын
@@GarageFab, The mac guy usually only stops at the shop I work at every once and a while. I got some drill bits from him too and they’ve been pretty good so far. I wonder if you could warranty the bit online on their website.

Yep I lnow what shrinker/stretchers are I also know how many are used What I'm wondering is what's the "recovery rate" is after each push on the air pedal. My guess is that it is not as fast as with a sprimg return Also, the adjustibility of each "push' There seems that there would be a lessening of sensitivity with air as with a spring return TY 4sharing

Sensitivity is completely eliminated, but in my opinion, there’s not much to feel with a manual unit anyway. I’m sure someone with years of daily experience could argue. The air cylinder returns pretty fast. As far as speed goes overall I think it’s about the same as a manual unit. A unit with a spring return rebounds quicker but there’s more movement required of the pedal or handle. The pedal for the air unit only moves about an inch or so each individual pedal stroke is quicker. Once in the rhythm, the air unit is capable of about 1 actuation a second. About the same speed that I would operate a manual unit.
