Have you been asked these questions in an interview? How did it go?

Thanks, Abby. Excellent! I discovered your videos the same day as my interview for the position of copyeditor-proofreader for an education institute called Language Academia. I’m sure glad I did. The interview didn’t go as I had predicted except, sure enough, the first question was, “Tell me about yourself”! Fortunately, I had watched your video on CAR and written a note about what to say. I glanced at it while answering to be sure I mentioned keywords--15 years of copyediting for Penguin Random House, copyediting the work of students for whom English was a second language. I mentioned that I spoke Spanish and French, but in reply to her question, “Could you teach those languages?” I was honest and said I didn’t have that level of expertise. She indicated that wasn’t so important and then went on to tell me that she was starting a project copyediting and proofreading books translated from foreign languages to English. I reacted strongly and positively and said I thought that was thrilling, and she appeared flattered. To me, her focus and passion were LANGUAGES and not so much the editing process itself, so I emphasized my love of language and thanked her for her marvelous blogs on the company website about different accents in films. She seemed stunned that I had found her blogs (I had just discovered them like an hour before!). I segued into how I love foreign movies, and she asked how I ranked them by country--I said Scandinavians make the best movies. Then we talked about Indian and Chinese movies, and I named some Indian Netflix films so she would know I wasn’t faking it. Thirty minutes passed in no time, and as soon as I saw her glance at her watch, I shut up, since that was a sign she wanted to wrap up. Again, as Abby predicted, the final query was whether I had any questions for her. I had prepared some questions, but I went off script and asked her how she had thought of this “amazing” idea, to which she seemed pleased and happily launched into quite a story. I remembered what Abby had said about how the interviewer probably enjoys the opportunity to talk about themselves,. It was more like a conversation than an interview, and to this, I’m thinking, either she likes me as a possible candidate, or she’s already dismissed me and decided to idly spend thirty minutes!.As Abby recommends, I immediately sent a thank you email and asked if there was anything I’d failed to answer during the interview. I'm a bit worried about my CAR, and wondered if her immediate switch to talking about her idea for the project was a good or bad sign. I got it in under 90 seconds, but then I was worried I’d been too sketchy. Only time will tell. She said she still had a few more interviews and let me know in about two weeks. Fingers crossed! Whatever the outcome, Abby’s coaching will remain with me for the future, and if I need any more interviews, they’ll probably successively improve.

Abby, I am following some of your videos and I would like more info about your mock interview. 🎉

Amazing! I offer two types of interview prep sessions: interview strategy sessions and mock interviews. Check out my website for more info here: lwbalance.com/services/pricing/ Most of my clients prefer an interview strategy session (where it's more of a conversation about how to prepare for your interview, going over specific questions, etc.) over a mock interview. A mock interview would be me acting as an interviewer, recording our interview (20-30 minutes) and the debriefing the interview with you afterwards. If you're interested in getting something scheduled with me, please email me at abby@lwbalance.com. Thanks!

Whatever you do do not ask the interviewer if they have any hesitation about your qualifications for the position,if they did they wouldn’t be interviewing you. I did that mistake and please don’t
@blkluvla Жыл бұрын
I think the question is, “From what we discussed in the interview, do you have any concerns about my suitability for the job?” In other words, a question not about the qualifications but the interview itself.
