Do you have a second-round interview (or third, or fourth, etc.) coming up? If so, CONGRATS! You’ve made it through the first round and now you’re doing exactly what I would recommend: research ways to prepare for your next interview and come up with questions to ask at the end of your interview.
As I have shared many times before: under no circumstance should you NOT prepare questions for the interviewers. You can expect your interview (even a second, third, or fourth-round interview) to end with the question, “do you have any questions for us?” ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SAY “No, no questions.”

I wanted to say thank you for this, I kept getting 2-3 rounds of interviews for positions and I feel sometimes there's just not enough "good" questions to ask after you've been through that many rounds and you've heard so much and asked so many questions already! I just accepted a job offer from a place I'm really excited to work for and I used the question in this video for my final round about what one-on-ones with the supervisor will look like, the answer to which ended up being an important consideration about the position too -- so thank you! And good luck to everyone who is in the interview process!

THANK YOU! I watched a few of your videos for my interview process recently and I got the job! I hadn’t had an interview in 15 years and was so nervous and unsure. These videos seriously saved me!!! I had been going on interviews and just failing all of them. After watching these, I knew exactly what to say and how to say it. The interviewers were impressed by my candor in asking some of the questions you recommended. Again, THANK YOU! I will be recommending your channel to anyone I know going into the interview process. Keep going, you have a gift!!!!

Great video! I've found your videos very helpful and was even complimented in a recent interview about how great my questions were and how impressed they were that I took notes! All information I've learned from your videos. My question for you is, what about roles we are interviewing for that we do not plan on remaining at for longer than 6 months or so? Should we remain unemployed until our "dream role" comes along or speak honestly about how we are searching for other positions more fitting?
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your support!! Your question is a good one, and unfortunately, the answer isn't that simple. The answer will fully depend on your financial stability. If you have the financial means to remain unemployed and job search full time (yes, full time) then that will work because you have the money to do so. Most people are not in that place. So, my recommendation is to find a job that will be a good stepping stone to your "dream" job. (I actually don't believe in dream jobs! Find out why here: STOP Looking for Your DREAM JOB! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGfKYnenjbuDbLM) Don't just take anything (unless you need the money NOW), be a little more strategic and find a job that will help you be more competitive with that "dream" job. I also DO NOT recommend telling an interviewer that you plan to stay short-term. It's none of their business, and they could choose to not hire you because of that information. I hope this helps!

The position I'll be interviewing for isn't that technical or involved. It's for a Reception/C/S position. Are there different types of questions I could ask the Interviewer that would apply? From the job description I wouldn't be working on Projects or Presentations! Thank you, Alexis
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance Жыл бұрын
Hi Alexis! Thank you for the great question. A Reception/Customer Service position still can have technical work (questions) involved. A few ideas that come to mind are: (1) what does the training for this position look like? (this question can help you understand what your first few weeks will look like - what training can you expect for the position and organization's policies and procedures, etc.) (2) can you tell me what I can expect from my first 30 days? I hope this helps!

These are awesome and insightful questions. And let's face it, if your employer has red flags, wouldn't you rather discover them as part of the interview process and not after you've already resigned from your previous job?
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance Ай бұрын
ABSOLUTELY!! Interview your interviewer to find those red flags BEFORE you transition into the new role.

Congratulations on getting to the second interview! My biggest piece of advice is to remember this is a conversation that goes both ways - they’re interviewing you and you’re interviewing them! The more comfortable and conversational you are, it’s more likely both will feel it goes well. You got this!

I have an upcoming second interview and have researched my hiring manager, learning that she has only been with the company for 4 months. Would these types of questions still apply?
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance Жыл бұрын
Great question! I think so - she might have some unique insight if she's newer to the organization. If you don't think they apply as much, pick some additional questions from my video on "questions to ask at the end of a first round interview" (here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2S1p2Zqnq-ApNU). Hope this helps!

My interview this week is broken down into three interviews: hiring committee, supervisor, and the rest of the team. Do you think it appropriate to in use some of these questions even though it's technically my first interview?
@LifeWorkBalance
@LifeWorkBalance Жыл бұрын
I think you may have interviewed already - how did it go?? I think it's appropriate to use many of these questions in those various interviews! I have these separated into the second round interview, but that doesn't mean they are exclusive to the second round. If you feel they are appropriate to ask in your first interview, ask away :)
