Thank you very very much for this video, I had just replaced the scissor mechanism in my lift chair and was having a heck of a time trying to install the base unit back into it. I did not really know which way the front or the back or how the levers were supposed to be positioned when being installed the two side pins. I had contacted Pride Mobility for help with getting an image of how the base was supposed to look and be positioned but they refused as they claim that all images and information pertaining to Pride products are proprietary and not for view by the general public. They had advised me that if I wanted to get any information I would have to contact a repair service and pay for the information from them. I hope now to get the chair finally assembled and operating before the day is out. I was up till 8 this morning working on it through the night and early morning.

Do you have any advice on what could be my new problem? I finished the install of the scissor mechanism and after getting the base installed, I plugged it in and ran some tests to see if it was moving, it operated as it should but when I had then installed the back, it no longer would operate. I have electricity going to the power supply and the cable from the power supply to the chair is plugged in, not really tight but plugged in. I also swapped the hand control and it still does not operate. I had seen a video on how to used a jumper wire to jump the #1 and #2 female plugs to see if it will operate then. I have not done this but I thought I would ask you first about such a procedure to see if it is a safe and viable test. Is it common for the lift chairs to have a problem after installing the back? Any help and advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
@reclinerrepairguy41553 жыл бұрын
@Virgil - No, installing the back should not affect the electrical operation, unless perhaps there are electrical cables inside the back that you are also connecting when installing it. You mentioned the Power Supply is plugged in, but not really tight. Wherever you have a loose connection like that, there's always the possibility of it working sometimes and not others. Especially if the loose connection gets bumped or tugged while you're testing, installing the back, etc. Sorry, I don't know anything about the jumpers.

My Pride power lift chair turns on by itself. Sometimes I come into the room and the footrest is fully extended from a closed position. Please let me know what the problem could be and how to address it. Thanks!
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Жыл бұрын
@LynnMcFarlane - I don't normally work on the Pride brand, so I'm certainly not familiar with typical repair scenarios. There may be a short (bare wires) that are the cause. Possibly in the hand control. Consult an experienced Pride repair tech for more specific recommendations.
@thasty100 Жыл бұрын
I’m a service tech and I work on Pride lift chairs. It’s sounds like a hand control problem. The hand control is easy to disconnect from the back. Follow your hand control wire under your back cushion . There is a lock clip just under your back cushion. Unlock it and disconnect it. I would take the hand control into a Pride dealer and have them check it for you. It would save you a service call.

Thanks for the video. I bought a lift chair from Walmart 6 months ago. Until a few days ago, there was a little play in the chairs back. I could use my back to push back a few inches if needed, which was great. But suddenly that stopped being the case. Now there is not any play, or tension in the back... it's totally rigid. Also, the point where the bottom of the back meets the seat seems to be a little out of place, like maybe an inch or two too far back. Does this sound like something you've seen? Any advice is greatly appreciated! I use my lift chair constantly, and even sleep in it instead of a bed. So it sees heavy use. Thanks again! Take care.
@reclinerrepairguy41553 жыл бұрын
@Chad Landrum - It sounds like there may be a problem with the back frame and / or where it attaches to the bottom of the chair. Many backs are removable. I'd take it loose to have a look. It may be something as simple as loose hardware.

My Mother-In-Law's Pride Lift Chair, Model Plr945m, has a cracked connector piece on end of Base Motor shaft. It cracked down into the threads. The Pride Mobility Company (and dealer) are telling us we have to buy the entire motor assembly to replace this simple part. Can you order this part from the motor assembly point?
@reclinerrepairguy41552 жыл бұрын
@George Patrin - If the connector piece you're describing is separate or you think that it is easily detachable so it can replaced, you can try contacting the motor manufacturer. If the motor is made by another company -- which they usually are -- there should be a sticker with that company's name directly applied to that part. Contact them to see if the connector is available separately, and if you can purchase a replacement directly from them.

Do you ever grease or oil the mechanisms or motor and linear actuators ?
@reclinerrepairguy41553 жыл бұрын
See the video, 'Should You Lubricate Your Reclining Mechanism?" As for lift actuators, check with the manufacturer regarding lubrication. If the unit shows no problematic indicators during operation -- making noises, etc. -- there's no need for lubrication.

@Barb Riffel - When a part is no longer available, there aren't many options. If the part is made by another company, you can check with them. Or, try to find a used one on Ebay or somewhere. Before you go down that road, I'd get some help troubleshooting the issue from a repair tech (or Pulaski tech rep) that has experience with those chairs. There may be a "reset" or "reboot" sequence you can try. Or perhaps a fuse may have failed. The key is to find someone experienced with servicing your chair brand. They will be the most knowledgeable regarding where the potential failure may be. Also, Pulaski may be able to point you to a dealer or repair tech in your area that services their products.
