If you are keen to see a build video on a foot pedal to kill the arc and turn the gas on and off let me know in the comments below. Remember guys when it comes to welding you don't need a massively expensive welder. Buy a cheaper welder and spend the money on material for practicing.

Good day, I just purchased this welder after using an older 125 amp AC flux core welder for the past couple of years. This one is such a step up from that. I also have enjoyed the videos that you have provided as well as the information. You are very clear and really stick to the point without a lot of excess fluff. Keep up the good work. I would also be interested in seeing a foot pedal modification. I also have seen listed on another forum where you can do a mod to add support for a spool gun by tapping into the drive wiring. I am exploring that as well. Seems like they use a DPDT switch and 2 pin connector to split that drive feed.

Problem with extinguishing the arc that way is that it leads to arc strikes. Most TIG lift machines have the option for a down ramp after you press the button (or stop pressing the button in case of 2T). This is a much better way to end the arc.

great intro video... as far as safety goes and electricity, when turning off the gas valve and laying the torch down are there any precautions to be aware of as far as tungsten touching metal close by unexpectedly. Hi, The tungsten will still arc if it is a scratch start or a lift start. So it will be wise to use a torch holder or place away from your work or if the you are on a metal bench that is also grounded. You won't get a zap from the torch. I hope that helps.

@@weldingempire thanks for the reply. yeah mate, it’s a good machine for home or hobbyist kind of use simply because you enter you parameters and it’s ready to go. I think someone with more experience could tweak the settings but it seems to go alright for me. I’ve stick welded all my life and I reckon it’s the smoothest machine I’ve ever used. For the tig I reckon I just need an on off foot pedal to an lpg solenoid from a car for the argon. I reckon I’m just wasting too much gas with the tap on the torch. I always have 12v handy in the garage and it should be simple.

Here in the US we have 120V alternating current, is that the same for Australia? I think the max you can go with 120V AC is 125 amps, but I could be wrong. Are these types of welders as good with that level of power? It would sure be easier than tapping into my 240V lines. This is making it tempting to get a multi process welder, but KZbin is taking too much of my time for real projects right now.
@weldingempire
@weldingempire 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. We have 240V in Australia, but I brought a step down transformer to run US products on the 110V. The welder can go up to 160 amps on 110V. So you can easily weld 4-5 mm plate set at 18-20V with a maximum current of 160 amps. The specs on this machine are very impressive, but I find the synergic control way of setting the machine a bit different from the volts/wire type adjustment. Speaking from experience if you do start making real projects, don't film them. That takes a lot of time too.

Don’t know why anyone in Australia would bother buying this. $400 USD for the welder plus another $200 USD for shipping! That’s getting near $900 AUD and it does even have a spool gun function. I can buy a Unimig 185 multi function welder for way cheaper with spool gun option & full local support. What happens with Yeswelder if a warranty problem comes up?

Hi Greg, thank you for your comment. But the reason I brought the US welder is because I run a review site where I actually buy the equipment and test it. The Yeswelder can now be brought from Ebay in Australia for $ 335 dollars making it an excellent choice.

@@weldingempire that’s awesome! Pity it doesn’t have the spool gun function, but for the $ it’s great value.

the only reason why anyone in australia would get this is if the company sponsored you and sent one to you for free

Great video! Helps out pretty good. I just got the mig-250 yeswelder . And would like to know if that yellow torch your using will fit mine? And can’t see the link if u put one already

Thanks Dan, Let me know how the 250 goes, that looks like a good welder. The link for the TIG tourch is here yeswelder.com/products/tig-welding-torch-17v35 Use my coupon to get 10% off the tourch. The glass lens and the yellow insulation were a different item. If you are just learning TIG I would get used to welding before buying a glass cup. They can break if you are trying to get your tungsten unstuck. Hope that helps mate 👍

Why don't you use a yes welder helmet with your yes TIG welder because they suck. LoL HAHA 😂😂😂

Hey Jamie, for the price of the Yeswelder helmet I actually think they out preform a lot of their competitors. I have had one for 18 months and am very happy with it.
