Hello i just ran across your helpful youtube channel. Im a senior right now, next year going into 2020 to graduate. Ive been looking into physical therapy and wondering if this is what i should really pursue because I’ve had experiences and helping people out is very rewarding for me. Ok so ill cut to the chase, my main two points... 1.) for me personally i feel like everyone wants to become a physical therapist, and im hesitant because Im thinking that there will be “too much” people, thus more competition to stress you out. 2.) I have no clue where to start RIGHT after highschool im going to a community college because i got an offer to play there, should i take medical related classes? What did you do right after highschool?

Hey whats up Tooth Fungus! first off thanks for commenting your story. Your story matters and its unique, and im glad to be a part of it my dude! You're starting super early and you're already getting a headstart! THIS IS HUGE. so you're already on the fast track!! to answer your questions: 1. It is true that PT is a growing profession, but there are always places in the world that will need PT. So more PT's the more people get better, which is what you value. Here is an quote from the APTA website, "There is a high demand for physical therapists in the workforce. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of physical therapists is expected to grow by 36 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations." Dude.... thats a big growth. Plus... there will ALWAYS be people that are injured and need rehab. Last point, physical therapy used to require only a masters, but it wasnt until recently that a doctorate was required. Which means the profession is GROWING/ 2. I think going the community college route is smart. You will save money. Use that time to knock out your general education courses (english, math, writing, etc), but also maybe you could fufill some of your PT prerequisites as well. Have you seen my video on how to organize prereq requirements from different DPT programs and geting into DPT in the fastest way? Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6ukmaaueJeYq8k Hope this helps!! I appreciate your support.

@@drjustinleedpt Great to know! I'm more interested in becoming a pediatric physical therapist. Do you know if there is specific minors or PT schools that I need to have/attend in order to become one? Or would it be any PT school but for my clinicals I work in a pediatric setting? Thanks!

smilesimply great question!!! Any DPT school will prepare your to get into ANY field. Then it’s up to you to narrow down on where you wanna go. For example, Once I graduate from APU and get licensed, I can choose to work in pediatrics. Or even ortho, acute care, etc
