THANK YOU. You made it easy enough for me to replace the part myself. I didn't DIY the switch, but looked all over on how to install a new one. Your vid is one of the few, and definitely THE best, very well edited and I can only imagine the time it takes you to do these. Took me about an hour to figure it out, but I did it with very little car repair know how. You saved me a $120 installation fee!

Dude, you make Really good videos!! Is video editing your job somewhere or did you take a course or something? I'm sure that taking the time to record these jobs is probably making them take you twice as long, but you'll be immortalized on the internet and appreciated for as long as these cars are on the road, at least!

Nunki’ Great video. Thanks. I went back over it and over it at several steps to see exactly what your had done. I wish you had told me what infinite resistance read on the multimeter, I still don’t know. Anyway, thanks you have been a great help and I hope you will be further after my questions. I removed the switch and tested it and got an O.L. I also got an O.L on the male portion of the terminals. (At first I got a 0.00 and also some numbers but that may have been from touching the leads with my fingers). It settled repeated at O.L.) At times the hatch opens: After I have released the hatch manually, if I close it with a sponge partially blocking the floor latch, and close it very gently so there is only a very quiet click, I can reopen the hatch, mostly just once, sometimes twice. If I manually open the hatch and close it, I can open the window sometime twice and reach in and open hatch manual. Sometime this does not work. If I have manually opened the hatch, and closed it, if I turn on the car, close the driver door, lock the car with the driver door switch, then reopen the car with that switch; then I can open the back hatch with the outside handle. If start the car, leave the drivers door open and activate the door lock, (at this point all doors lock but the drivers side immediately unlocks (i presume a safety feature to keep you from locking the car with the engine running). I cannot open the hatch or the window. I can’t imaging what the dealer labor charge would be to diagnose this problem, most likely more that the car is worth. Do you have any suggestions relative to the problem or a means of further testing? thanks again, Lee Wittle.
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 6 жыл бұрын
+Lee Wittle - If you test the switch and the result is = O.L. {(Open)} at rest and 0.00 {(continous)} when the switch is pressed then most likely that the switch is good. Check for voltages on the male terminal where you connect the switch. Intermittent functioning of the lock sometimes is caused by a broken wire usually located somewhere in an area where the wires flexes and bend every time you open the lift gate door. Check the continuity of each wire at that area. Palpate each wire and might get lucky to feel where the break is. I personally do use two sewing pins to probe each and every wire and test for continuity with the multimeter. Do not Forget to remove the battery terminals if you probe the wires for continuity with the pin to prevent an accidental short circuit !!! Good Luck :)

I cannot get my interior panel out. Do you know what is holding the bottom portion of the panel at the top, center?
@mitchgreenberg6183
@mitchgreenberg6183 2 ай бұрын
To get the plastic interior trim removed, open the rear window, there is a square cutout around some connectors squashed in there, and couldn't remove panel unless the rear window is open.

Does that particular reed-switch, control the opening of the glass "hatch", AND the lift-gate itself???
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 3 жыл бұрын
@Troy Simon - If the drivers door is unlocked, yes... (note: each handle has its own reed switch... also, take note that it is not possible to open the glass hatch using its handle if the liftgate is open. You can only open both at the same time manually from the inside using the liftgate and glass hatch release levers). Thank you for watching the video...

Nunki Rider se puede arreglar el switch del vidrio de la misma forma en que arreglaste el de la puerta? Y como podría verificar si el glass switch funciona o no? gracias.
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 3 жыл бұрын
Buena suerte …

how do you get the middle part of the lift gate panel off? it feels like its secure there or something - or is it just a clip holding it on?
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 6 жыл бұрын
It is a male horizontal tab shaped like a “T” that is inserted on an oblong hole (can be seen at 1:12 on the left of the switch connector) on the lift gate. You need to position the tab at the center of the hole and try to release the “T” tab carefully. It is a little bit tricky to remove this tab. Sorry for the late response…

Gonna go out on a limb and say if you have the grey stuff to diagnose and do this kind of DIY repair you probably can afford to have the dealer do it.

@Linda rodthong - You can manually open it from the inside. Locate the lid cover of the tailgate release lever located near the bottom of the gate. Open it and you will see the release lever inside. Turn the lever clockwise and gently push out the gate to open the tailgate.

@@nunkirider8738 I’m having a hard time finding this lever inside the vehicle. All I see if a fuel pump lever.
@nunkirider8738
@nunkirider8738 2 жыл бұрын
@Linda rodthong - You have to go inside behind the 3rd seat and look down at upper back tailgate door. At the bottom, middle part of that back upper tailgate, you will see a circular tab cover on the plastic trim, open this and you will see the release lever of the tailgate. This lever is usually the way out from the inside of the car if the battery is dead or disconnected or when the liftgate handle switch malfunctions.

@Linda rodthong - I found this link for your vehicle’s manual at https(colon)//ownersmanuals(dot)com/d/30979 (Replace the Colon with : and Dot= with .) Download the manual, open it and go to page 180 of the document (or 3-65 on the manual) and there you will see an illustration where the lever is. (or search the downloaded pdf document for “inside tailgate release”). Hope this helps.
