great job, Dan - perfect set up for the XJ in my eyes as well and the video was entertaining as always ! Been there with spinning bolts in the sleeve, all rusted out badly - worst thing I've ever done on my XJ. Because getting the bolts out was a piece of cake in your case, my guess is, that these leave spring bolts had been treated/removed not too long ago.

I'm putting an Old Man Emu 3.5" lif on mine with 31×10.50's, BFG KO2's. Love the wheels ! I'm using the transmission cross member from the same year XJ w/ std transmission. It will lower my stuff 1" for better angles w/o SYE ! That looks awesome ! Wish you were local ! I'd hire you to help with mine !

Dude ! You lucked out on those spring eye bolts ! Don't put that rear sway bar back, rip it outta there ! The rear leafs don't flex as much as the front coils do, that will help you out in the long run ! You can repurpose those sway bar mounts for upper shock mounts !!! Love your channel, it always looks easier ! Definitely keep those add a leaf springs ! You'll run across one too nice to lift sooner or later !

im currently dealing with the result of the stringing the bolts through after the old ones break free. since they arent connected to anything, when you go to loosen them they just spin free. trying to get a wrench up in there to hold in place to loosen the nut is a pain since you cant see. im also going with those replacement nut stip things as well

Nice work. Why did it take my son and I several days to change out the shackles and shocks and you get it done in no time. We had to drill out one of the upper shock mounts and tap for a new bolt. How is the ride with the new setup - much stiffer or more comfortable or both?
@ProjectDanH2 жыл бұрын
Yeah brother.. I've battled in the past.. the lift I did for my buddy prior to this one took me one whole day to get the upper two shackle bolts out. I was prepared to battle but I think my saving Grace was being able to use the impact on the upper shackle bolts since I cut out so much rot on the rear quarter

Hey Dan! Love your new video series on a 3" lift! You may remember that I wrecked Lazarus 1 just over a year ago. I started a KZbin Channel called "SirThrival". I'm having fun building Lazarus 2, it came with a 3" lift, and it's good watching your stuff, it explained the swaybar holes haha. I wasn't sure what to do about the rear swaybar since the previous owner removed it. I prefer them, and didn't know that I could use the stock links! That was a huge help to me! I also did the Liberty disc brake conversion, and working on the WJ disc swap up front, and some other things. I'm building it into an affordable overlanding rig. I used the rough country spacers to run JK wheels, but I was wondering if you know of any place that sells 17x9 steel rims with the right backspacing for the xj? That way I can run cheap new jk tires people are throwing away on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace without the need for a sketchy rough country spacer. Right now I have the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern, but when I go chromolly and lockers in the rear I could go to 5 on 5 axle shafts, with WJ hubs. Only problem running JK wheels without a spacer is it gets very close to the body and rear springs, so I would need 1.5" of backspacing for the 17x9 rims. What do you think?
@ProjectDanH2 жыл бұрын
Hey brother! glad things are going well.. Honestly I Think Spacers are the easiest way to go.. You may be able to try ford explorer wheels.. same lug pattern, dunno about the back spacing tho.

Great. Next time you can use the sway bar bracket you removed as rear shocks mount 😏
@ProjectDanH2 жыл бұрын

@dvdguana2 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectDanH Yeap... You can weld those also (careful due to fuel tank right next to it) and you will have a permanent shock mount easy to access and replace and forget about those rusty bolts. If you delete the rear sway bar you can use that part right there at the spot.
