My dad has an overhead door side mount not sure of the model, but he hast to hold the button to close it any tips?

I wonder if there is a switch on the board that changes it from constant to momentary. I know LM commercial openers have that.

Overhead door operators need safety photoeyes before it will work in momentary contact. If no safety eyes it will be in constant contact. In commercial units you need the photoeyes and have to go into settings, turn on the STB and then put it in M/C instead of C/C

That is exactly what mine is doing. I'll check all of that tomorrow and see if I can fix it. I had noticed that the lights were blinking when the door was open but were solid when closed. I figured that was the problem but wasn't sure.

Any idea why my commercial lift master won’t open all the way when it is a hot sunny day but whenever it is cold or a cool cloudy day it works fine?

That's a strange one. I would think it would be the opposite. On cold days you have issues. Man that might be a question for LM commercial support. They have all the little cheat sheets for that stuff. I personally have never had that issue.

You need the sensors. It won't work properly without them.

One more comment. I seem to have noticed that the sensors don't let the door close if they are in the path of the afternoon sun shining directly on them.. Am I imagining that? Do the sensors get old or burn out if exposed to bright lights? Oh yeah, all the specials video effects you used, that just distracts from the message in my opinion. Younger users may like that stuff but I'm more of "just the facts ma'am."

@@drgibson410 if the sun hits them just right it can disrupt the signal. I've had that issue in the past. You can just swap sensors. Meaning move the one on the right to the left and vise versa. That seems to help. LM used to have these cardboard covers that went over the actual sensor. Kind of giving them tunnel vision. I've made some out of toilet paper rolls before. The cardboard part... Yeah, I know. I just like editing and trying different stuff. It's about 50/50 with folks on the sound effects and whatnot.

@@garagedoorgenius And that requires moving all the wires from top to bottom as I understand. You can’t just snip the wires 9” away from the sensor and swap them or do I misunderstand that?

Lol, with rear mounted spring lines there's punched angle going everywhere. The opener was hung up in the back and it also was tied into the angle coming down for the spring brackets. The thing didn't move at all! 👊🏼

The first problem is that you’re working on a junk LiftMaster. Worst garage door openers on the market.

I run into nothing but headaches with them. Rpm sensor design is stupid, 2 separate circuit boards that if one goes bad liftmaster wants you to change both. Now they changed there policy not to help on anything on the logic 3 because they say it’s outdated. Programming timers is ridiculous. All the commercial sites I got to hate them as well, to loud, they hate the delayed reaction. Overhead door operators is where it’s at, RSX models for commercial is the best on the market and user friendly with lcd display screen.

@kernsy6715 fair enough. Everything you just mentioned is a problem with LM. I've had pretty decent luck with the commercial line. There for awhile residential not so much. It was 50/50. Control Modules, boards,... I had an account with the W Hotel downtown Austin. They had RSX machines. I thought they were pretty cool. Especially with the display screen.

OHD tech support is awesome as well. They will help you and figure out issues on operators from first line to the newest line of operators.
