Light Bulb Replacement - Power AirFryer Pro XL/XLT Air Fryer Oven

Recently, the light in my Power AirFryer Pro XLT Air Fryer oven quit working. I purchased this air fryer from QVC over a year ago and it has worked perfectly until the light quit. I didn't realize how much I had grown accustomed to the light until it went out. I searched for tutorials or for any mention of bulb type, where it was in the oven, how to access it, but found nothing....so I figured it out myself and this video shows how I did it!
The bulb I used is from Lowe's: www.lowes.com/...
In a future video I'll discuss cooking with this air fryer oven and compare it to the NuWave oven that has been rock solid for over 5 years.

Great video, it helped me replace my bulb. FYI, the proper bulb for this Air Fryer, is a G5.3, 20W, 110/120Volt Halogen.G5.3 is not a popular size and I had to ordered it online. G5.3 is the distance between the pins on the bulb.I measured the pins to be approx 5 mm went online and found the bulb was most likely G5.3. Fits perfectly!

Thanks for the video, it helped me on how to access the ligh bulb. I have a similar air fryer oven (Silvercrest brand from LIDL) and needed to replace the light bulb. The top of the oven is a bit different, but everything else, including internals is the same - guess the base model is mass produced in China then sold by different brands with some cosmetic variations.

Excellent video, thank you. Just bought a similar but different brand air fryer so no idea if this video will help me in the future or not but the light on my brand seems to be a common issue so decided to look into it as several people are saying they can't source a replacement bulb. The bulb in question is marked as 230v but the bulbs I've sourced so far are only 12v, any idea if the voltage would be an issue or does it need to be as stated on the tin?

My bulb seems to be crimped in to the cables... it has the white bit but then the cables just came through .. totally different air frier (well similar shape , getting in and out is practically the same)but I'm jealous because every single video I watched to learn to get to it had a nice little socket lol.

You can get tiny plastic spudgers for opening cell phones and a wide variety of larger ones, plastic pry bars, etc. usually sold for dealing with automotive trim. They are the perfect tools to have on hand for dealing with those annoying plastic clips.

Since the screwdriver is only being used on housing components it’s ok, but thanks! Suspension fork is only used when cooking with the rotisserie feature 😁

@@kev-reviews It's cool. If you promise not to tell, I'll let you in on a secret... I've used magnetic screw drivers in my PC with no bad results other than reprimands from other techs. Spinning and bouncing your food while cooking. Hmmm, that could be a new trend;)

The next time your light blows, you should definitely oil that fan and use the Xenon bulb. That fan looks to me like the weak link (besides the plastic construction) in the oven. I have a toaster oven I am thinking of replacing and I have heard that the air-fryer is just a convection oven and they come in the shape of toaster ovens. I do not have any additional outlets or places to store an additional oven. How does this compare to a toaster oven?

@@kev-reviews No, the bearings inside the caps. Take a look at 5:16 right in the middle is the fan. There is a transformer on the left and a part that looks riveted. Inside that riveted part is (likely not real bearings) a brass bushing of porous brass (they will be on both ends). That brass has been impregnated with non-detergent (can't use 3-in-one) light machine oil. But they dry out. They used to contain a felt washer which was considered a "regular maintenance" item where you would drop oil in to re-soak the felt once a season. But today nothing is meant to be serviced. But these always dry out. 95% of fans that go in the trash go because the bearing (bushing) dried up, the fan got hot and blew the (non-replaceable) fuse. Usually only one side is riveted, the other side is not. That allows you to take the rotor out and oil the bearings (technically they are bushings, not bearings). Having the fan on top of a hot oven is not going to do a lot for extending the life of the machine oil. ....and since you have it apart anyway and are obviously comfortable doing such things, may as well extend the life....

Make sure you get a low wattage bulb. I replaced mine with a 100 watt bulb because the size was the same and it literally burned the entire bulb unit 🤷🏽‍♂️

Xenon lights are MUCH better than halogen.

My reasoning (uneducated guess) was that Xenon runs cooler, so it may not handle the heat of the oven as well as a halogen, which has to work at high enough temperatures to handle their own heat, so the oven shouldn’t pose an additional problem - for the halogen. The halogen bulb was also listed under appliance bulbs and lamps where the Xenon was for desk lamps with no mention of appliance. I’m curious to know if the Xenon could work in this application, because the pins lined up quite well with the oven socket.

@@kev-reviews My understanding is the difference between them is the inert gas inside (regular air would cause an immediate failure the second it got power). They might run cooler, but cooler is relative. They still generate light by heating a wire to thousands of degrees. At the end of the day, it's an oven light so it's no big deal if it's 50% brighter or not. It's not like it's a headlight. Just thought I would mention it, especially since you already had it. It's not like you would have to get in your car and go drive somewhere to pick it up.
