A fish is a fish & you got out on a nice day regardless.

Great video, love some chumming and float fishing. A variety of fishing is what makes it interesting. It is reassuring to me to hear that the last couple of bass sessions you blanked, I seem to do more of that when fishing with lures than catch, but, there is so much more to fishing than just catching. All the best and look forward to more great content.

Yeah it’s a great way to fish. A little more relaxing then other forms of fishing too. We all blank from time to time, it’s nothing to be ashamed about. Keeps you on your toes! 🎣

I've been thinking about using a light float setup on my 40g spinning rod for a while. Call me crazy but I think it might be fun.

I love garfish bashing. It's so much fun. Nice to see them about really. The Tuna completely hammered them where I am and they got a bit thin on the ground for a while.
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
Yeah mate, the tuna were going crazy for them over here too during the summer. Be interesting to see what the stocks are like in a few years.

Always good to see you out and about mate enjoying the outdoors on the island, don’t worry about the content. Doesn’t always have to be 12lb bass. Just nice to see someone out and about respecting the natural world. How was Smash’s hangover after the other night btw!? 😂
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
True mate. It’s always fun to just be out anyway! I wouldn’t say no to a 12lb bass though 😂 I think smash was a bit delicate the next day. Was a fun night though.

I went on holiday to Croatia a few years back. I took a small telescopic rod with me and used a Pork pie that I'd taken with me as bait. I was very surprised to catch Garfish on it ! Also, whilst there I spotted to huge Bass swimming near to a tour boat, both well into double figures - just wish I'd had some decent tackle to have had a try for them.
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
Haha that’s interesting. Some people over here use strips of bacon to catch garfish. I don’t think they’re too fussy. Shame you couldn’t try for one of those bass. Must’ve been a good sight to see though. Thanks a lot.

Fishing is fishing, Cal, cool just to see you out again! Fingers crossed the weather is starting to turn and spring is coming. Cornwall has been horrendous over the last few months, like bloody monsoon season! Roll on the long days, short nights, and glorious sun and warmth. 🤍

I love catching Garfish, they won't be round my way until June at the earliest, probably back end of July
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
They’ve been around the island for a while now. Lots of smaller ones this winter though.
@LONGSHANKS9009 ай бұрын
Be good to just get out around here but it feels more like we've been plunged back into winter spring can't come quick enough Nicely done on the vid what you targeting using the gars as bait?
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
Tell me about it mate. Constant wind and rain isn’t helping things. Hopefully the weather should start improving now though. I’ll use the Gars for huss on the next small tides. Unless I can get out on someone’s boat then I’ll save them for turbot fishing.

Don’t apologise for the content Cal. It is winter in Guernsey and at least still catching the stinky long nose. Just good to see you capitalising on a break in the weather and having a bit of fun!

Hello, can you tell me what country this is? I'm in Ireland and I was wondering if there are garfish here?
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
I’m in Guernsey in the Channel Islands mate. I suppose it depends on which part of Ireland you’re in. I’d imagine you get garfish in certain areas but best to ask a local rather than me.

Fish Oil - What exactly is this and where can it be got Cal ?
@FISHINGWITHCAL9 ай бұрын
I use one called Holy Mackerel. You’ll find it in most tackle shops. It’s just a blend of fish oils to use for an attractant when ground baiting.
