I just did this at the weekend 🙂👍 I've got one in flower now, a pink one, just spotted it at the weekend. I'll mulch more next weekend, thanks for the tip.

Hellebores herald spring and get us through otherwise bleak winter. It’s wonderful to have these flowers when little else blooms.

This is so useful. I picked up about 12 big terracotta pots of perrenial plants for free on facebook marketplace recently( couldnt believe my luck) and a few of them have hellabores in them. Now I know what to do with them. I wont know what the rest of them are until they bloom in Spring/Summer.

A great way to increase the amount of your perennial plants fast is to divide them in late fall and grow inside during the winter. By the spring, they grow into substantial plants, ready to plant in the garden. Last winter, I dug up a geranium from under the snow when we had a few warm days in winter, and by the spring, I had six new plants. I also take home newly rooted roses and they grow and flower all winter. By the spring, they are big enough to be planted in the garden:)

@@rose_gardener thank you for your comment but this is not something that I would advise you to do lifting and dividing in autumn and early winter often leads to losses plants really need to Stay outside and experience the weather

@@the_gardenerben I think they are more like people - they prefer warm and cozy, instead of -35 and 1 meter of snow🤣But I get your point.💖
