I have watched a lot of light wind relaunch videos that just confused me this is easy to remember and effective

Awesome! I'm glad it could help.

You mentioned the wind range and I think that's good., these should pretty much never be used in stronger wind. The other risks with these more advanced techniques I'd call out is that (particularly with the reverse launch), you run a decent risk of tangling a steering line around the bar as you let go of one to allow it to turn. I've used both of these countless times, but for someone who is learning how to do it they should be extra careful to watch that. These also break one of the cardinal rules beginners are taught; not to grab the lines directly. In a controlled setting (very low wind) you should be ok, just worth mentioning the risk in case the thought doesn't occur to someone.

Yep, its a great technique to know and practice. I ride in FL, and summertime breezes are generally very light, so I’m flying 15m or 17m kites and use these methods to relaunch when needed. Good demonstration.

When the kite falls back on its trailing edge it's gonna shoot up violently. How would it just stay there?

In light wind, it won't.

Thanks for this video. Only question - I have seen others like this and they are all performed in shallow water which makes the whole thing go much easier since you can stand and provide resistance. I often find myself needing to do a light wind relaunch in deeper water on my foil board. Any tips for that situation? I struggle to get the kite to the edge of the wind window. Thanks

It's definitely harder in deep water. In very light wind it's best to hot launch it in the power zone if you can get the kite onto its trailing edge. Also getting the foil on your feet and in front of you will give you a bit more tension in the lines. I'll be making a video on how to flip the kite onto the trailing edge soon.

Exactly, works nice in shallows. As for deep: 1.Sheet out and keep pulling one steering line to get kite on a side of wind window. 2. Basically if you can make kite stand on one side on the windows edge while still drifting downwind - give center lines a few pulls. If you can balance - sit on a foil board, that will help with line tension. As shown in video, hot launch is also an option for deep water, just need lines tension.
