Not disclosing the traps was unsportsmanlike and unfair - that really made me angry. He also lied about it being his first manhunt. I don’t know how or why anyone would ever agree to such a thing - I would never be that brave or foolhardy. Edit: oh… nice twist! Well-deserved and satisfying

This reminds me of “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell. I read it in high school and I was amazed. I go back to it every now and again and it’s so crazy you narrated a story similar to it. Whoever is reading this, I suggest you read the story as well! It’s set in an older time, with a different setting, names and different ways of meeting. If you liked this, you’d love the short story. If you've read the story "The most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell then you'd pretty easily see the ending. This was nothing less than a masterful modern adaptation and beautiful narration of the Iconic piece of short fiction. If you haven't read the original I highly recommend it as it also represents an excellent example of early short horror fiction.

They lost everything but I should have my house repaired enough for them to move in after a few days. Good news is they refuse to rebuild again down there. Stephen, I was talking to a neighbor and her 14 y/o girl. I brought up that I listen to creepypastas to relax and when she said that she does too, I told her the bare bones of this story. They thought the twist at the end and were duly surprised by it. I have converted two more to the Order of the Lighthouse.

Awesome story and ending!!! I just knew there was something off about the MC. He was just too calm , confident and willing. And not in the “ I don’t have much to live for and I’m looking for excitement” way but more in a “ he can’t kill me , I have a secret” kinda way. Really reminded me about a recent story I listened to about a truck driver that crashes in the middle of nowhere and finds a house of some seemingly hospitable and nice farmers , but they turn out to be a cult and right when they are about to sacrifice him he turns into a werewolf and massacres the whole cult.

I can only guess that "canned me" is the the tongue in cheek reverse of " you tube". It is a bit of an head cutting monolith. Some very good out of the box thinkers silenced, some to never find a new platform. Some very curious things... Worthy of a creepypasta. If creepypasta could marry true crime, dark web contracts (or worse) and ultimate censorship.

@tree eyed It is really easy to nitpick writers who aren't paid for their work and don't have an editor but themselves. And it's even easier to be a dick about it rather than give constructive feedback to the author in an understanding manner. Keep in mind, the vast majority of writers for creepypastas do it for the joy of creation, very few end up shooting to become published authors.

I distinctly remember one of those two characters, I think the narrator, exclusively calling the other by his last name instead of his first name. A real shame I was forced to read it in high school instead of discovering it naturally, I may remember more of it if I walked into it glad to have found it

I had a feeling the one being hunted was a monster but I figured a werewolf or something similar. I never expected a skinwalker-type creature. Now the creature owns everything. I love it! And it eased his humdrum life, that's for sure!

Naw. I'm good. I don't need the money that bad. It would totally not be worth it...I figured the hunter would have night vision goggles. Kinda unfair advantage...playing dirty really. If I was asked this I would have some questions about the terms.. would I be armed? Is this a place that the hunter knows well and if so am I able to recognoitre the area beforehand or get a map? Are dogs used? What happens if I happen to kill one of the hunters etc. 🤨

Civilians who've never used night vision have no idea how much of a game changer it can be. Especially goggles or quads (as opposed to monos). For about $10k you can own a set better than even most Soldiers ever deploy with.
