Hopefully I'm not missing the obvious, do you have your channel linked to a podcast channel yet? I'm spreading the word to anyone who will listen and who would have guessed, some hipsters will only check out a podcast........ Between eye rolls, figured I'd check with you. This story was built different. I had to do back a few times to make sure i didn't hit a button and get started on a different one. But I've told you a sudden times your attention to detail makes a tremendous difference. Really appreciate everything. Now I'm pumped to get be a new favorite t shirt or sweatpants or whatever depending on the store

Too bad her man was such an idiot.. He seriously didn't draw a connection to his neighbor leading away some rats with her music and then his wife becoming entranced by the music as well!? Not to mention the malice his neighbor held for him that he was clearly aware of. Bruh... I'd be taking my wife to a hotel to sleep after that. Ain't even messing around. We'd be moving.. or at least buying some dang earplugs!!!

Same. Not like all the cliché horror story partners. I don’t really know why people do that. It doesn’t really contribute to the story I’m any way that other kinds of partners couldn’t.

I love these stories that are modernized versions of different myths. Like this one is loosely woven with the pied piper and the mall one that was based in Greek mythos. It’s so interesting to see how different writers are able to add a modern spin but still maintain the root of the old tales.

Organic windchimes, missing rats, and strange old ladies... this was a journey. It isn't easy to describe the flavors that came to me when I heard the descriptions of the windchimes. I am so glad that the dog survived, though I mourn the losses of the others in the neighborhood. I love writing that can bring your senses right into the scene itself, this was a good story. The slow build-up to reveal that the real villain was not who they thought it was... I look forward to more stories :3

Ugh!!! Soo good!! Terribly creepy. Stretches out the anticipation really well. I like how realistic the people’s dialogue felt, however that shibe has to be the least emotive dog of all time, lol. I think looking to animals’ reactions is kind of a horror trope so maybe the author avoided including his reactions out of fear of cliché. But it did feel a little weird when Caroline approached the narrator quickly while he was holding his dog (who was supposedly kidnapped and trapped in an unfamiliar place for hours by Caroline earlier in the day-a place no doubt heavy with her personal smell), but apparently this shiba inu is incredibly spiritually disciplined because he is as calm as the most Zen Buddha. 😂Overall an excellent story. Super creepy.

it was never explicated in the story, but as soon as I knew rats and a flute were involved, I was immediately like "this is going to be about the Pied Piper isn't it?", and it seems that I was probably right given the progression of events (obviously it was never confirmed that's what Ms. Harris was, but all the elements are there). Also, fun fact that (arguably) makes this especially relevant rn, but the Pied Piper was probably supposed to be a metaphor for the Black Death (bc bubonic plague was spread by rats, and started killing all of them off, and then spread to people)

After the Black Death there were other outbreaks. At first they happened every 5 or 10 years but eventually settled into basically once a generation. I believe it was the third major outbreak of plague that hit children particularly hard, becoming a "child's plague" & thus the Pied Piper. But there were many an epidemic that seemed to target the young so it's could be an expression of a more general experience.
@jacobyoakum6498
@jacobyoakum6498 2 жыл бұрын
The bubonic plague wasn’t spread by rats, or their bites. Rather, it was spread by fleas that bit the rats, then bit people. A minor point, but still important.
@vanessaashford9203
@vanessaashford9203 2 жыл бұрын
@@jacobyoakum6498 it was still spread by rats, they just weren't the vectors. Rats were the animal reservoir that introduced it into human proximity in the West, considering there are unlikely to have been fleas that bit marmots all the way in Mongolia (where the bacterium is thought to originate) and directly introduced it to Europe (considering fleas don't to go that far from their hosts) anyway, I never said anything about rats causing it with their bites
@vanessaashford9203
@vanessaashford9203 2 жыл бұрын
specifically, black rats (for whatever reason, brown or Norway rats don't seem to harbor the bacterium as readily, and modern outbreaks are still most often associated with the presence of black rats in a given area iirc. I think it might have to do with brown rats having a stronger immune system, since they're the species commonly known as being "sewer rats", whereas black rats are an originally arboreal species that prefers to live in attcs or roofs, and I guess aren't otherwise exposed to disease as readily)

I liked the story but you can’t have a villain that makes bone chimes that look exactly like missing animals and have the neighbors be like “totally normal nothing to see here!” And you definitely can’t have the protagonist basically witness a damn confession and tons of weird stuff and just like, not tell people? And the police would definitely follow up on SOMEONE HANGING BONE CHIMES ON THE HOUSE OF A MISSING PERSON.

Anothwr wonderfully gruesome tale to wind down the day. The organic wind chimes made me think of the Criminal Minds episodes with Frank and Crazy Jane.

I never worry about flutes or any musical instrument playing at night. Because our douchebag neighbor is often singing his horrendous songs via the karaoke till the wee hours of the morning. Despite the city ordinance about noise pollution at 10pm.
