You were spot on about everything and it's so awesome to hear you're a Godzilla fan. I'm hyped as well for KotM. I do love 2014, but my only complaint was that it was too dark to see, but I still enjoyed it. I'm surprised you didn't mention the after-credit scene for Kong: Skull Island. If you're hyped for KotM, then that after-credit scene will put it to max. Also, loved the opening to the video, it was cute.... O_O I mean awesome. It was Awesome!

Well also it's a staple in monster movies, for you not to instantly see the movie but only glimpses of it. Examples being Jaws and Tremors. Until the big payoff at/near the end of the movie.

First being introduced to him with the film Godzilla vs. megagearus (I think that's how you spell it.) or as I call it Godzilla: the birth of Kyru. As this film introduced Kyru a big, better, sleeker, and more destructive mecha Godzilla by using the very skeleton of the original. Mounted shoulder guns, retractable arm swords, and that sweet, sweet roar....oooh Kyru was and still is my bread and butter.

That was awesome, and it's so cool to see you're a fan of Godzilla as well Bliss. Any chance of doing a review of the animated Godzilla series? I know that two exist at least, one from the 70s, and one from the 90s. The 70s one was, I believe, a Hana-Barbara cartoon, and the 90s one was honestly the best thing to come out of the 1998 film.

Okay, I understand the hate for 98 Godzilla, but if you change the name, it's actually a decent movie. I was lucky enough to have watched it before I knew what Godzilla was, and because of that, the failed promise for what it was going to be didn't effect me and I rather enjoyed it as it's own thing, and the animated sequel series was awesome. Good review overall, I kinda want to see you review the alien franchise, considering thinking about it was how you brought out Thunder Blight on your last visit to Dr. Wolf, and I would LOVE to see more of her. (even as slapstick)

It wouldn’t be so bad if the movie was given a different title like “The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms”. But no. They slapped the name “Godzilla” on the title for marque value. It’s all about the Benjamins for Hollywood! Had the movie and the monster been called something else, it would have been a bigger success and more beloved by monster movie fans.

First you love D&D and now, you love Godzilla? Bliss...you truly are feeling like a kindred spirit for me. Not only am I also a mad lover of fantasy (dragons being my top creature.) But I have been a fan of the G-Man since I was ten! I've watched more Godzilla movies than I can count, collected several toys and have two video games based on the franchise in my collection! Unfortunately...I regret to mention that at one time, I once loved the "American Version" of the G-Man (whom people have dubbed Zilla.) But now, that thing has been cast out of my library and I've returned to my true love of his movies

My favorite MechaGodzilla is the Shōwa Era version! It’s design and weaponry just scream evil and destruction! The Heisei Era version wasn’t as good as the previous one. Sure it was powerful and had an aircraft adapter to make it even more powerful than before, but it’s design just didn’t look menacing enough. Now the Millennium Era version nicknamed Kiryu was a much better design! Possessing more powerful weapons than the previous two models combined! Plus, Kiryu has the skeletal remains of the first Godzilla that was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer in the first movie built into it!

I used to be a big of the old Godzilla movies when I was a kid! I think I had a VHS copy every single movie from series, whether they were dark and gritty like the first movie or silly and campy like the later sequels. Of course I gave them up as I got older, but I do still have a few Godzilla tapes on my selves for nostalgic reasons. I’m looking forward to the new Godzilla movie coming this summer to theaters.

10:19: Sorry to burst your bubble, but Angruirus isn't in the new movie. I've been covering Godzilla news pretty closely on my channel, and I can say with 100% certainty that the creature bursting out of the ground is not Anguirus. Writer/director Michael Dougherty confirmed in recent interviews that the only Toho Kaiju in the upcoming movie are Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah. The other creatures that will be appearing are original creatures. While an appearance by Anguirus in a future film - depending on where the MonsterVerse goes after Godzilla vs. Kong - is not impossible, it's definitely not the case in this film. Aside from that, and a few timeline issues, good video.

I personally grew up on the americanized Godzilla (yes I know I'm gonna get flak for this) but it was my introduction to the franchise. As such I actually quite liked some of the dinosaur-esque design as well as the more slender form. However I do agree that the film execution was not great. I haven't been super up to date with the franchise- last film I saw was Godzilla: Planet of Monsters on netflix (which was mostly just a visual spectacle due to it being anime-esque, still worth a watch tho). Either way that's just my little blurb XP

I'm the same! The 98 film was my introduction to Godzilla, and to this day I've only seen two of his other movies besides the 2014 release - Vs. King Kong and Vs. Biollante. But I still remember the 98 film as being the one that introduced me, and truthfully the animated series is still a favorite of mine too.

Well this was a fun review! I'm generally new-ish to the Godzilla franchise. I've mostly seen the jokes and spoofs in other movies that reference Godzilla (like Austin Powers) with the only Godzilla movies I've seen being the 1991 one. I know this might sound odd to say, but I think I owe my life as an artist to Godzilla. It was seeing Godzilla for the first time that made me want to create and draw things, and this goes way back to when I first developed the motor skills to pick up a pencil. I'm pretty amazed to see that my liking and appreciation for Godzilla is shared by so many other fans of MLP.

Okay, first off, I salute you as a fellow Godzilla fan! I ADORED the films, and even the games Destroy all Monsters Melee and Save the Earth. In fact, my father got me a big collection of Godzilla movies for my birthday back in 2014. Second, if what you're saying is true, then I wanna see it now more than ever. I LOVE Angirus, he was one of my all-time favorite Kaiju, resembling a lovechild of both a dinosaur and a hedgehog. Thirdly, while yes, the 1998 Godzilla flick was bad, at least the cartoon made about it was much better. And best part, no Broderick as the lead!

I love the fact that in the first GODZILLA movie from 1954 the GODZILLA suit (worn by the great Haruo Nakajima RIP) had to be made out of ready mix CONCRETE because Toho studios couldn't get rubber to make the suit (also keep in mind that back then the only way to get rubber was from the appropriately named "Rubber Trees" , there was no synthetic rubber, so it would have been exponentially more expensive than it would be today).

I'm glad you're branching out Bliss. MLP may be coming to an end soon, or at least the current generation, I think it would definitely be a smart move to try finding other interests. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure diehard fans will still remember the series and pay homage to it long after the series has ended. But one can still have interest in more than one thing. I myself am actually a huge fan of many TV shows, movies, video games, etc., past and present. Up to, including, and not limited to Star Trek, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Marvel cinematic universe/Marvel comics in general, and yes, even Godzilla.

I have to agree with you, Godzilla was one of my favorite monsters growing up and I just loved how he fights any other monsters without even giving up, especially when the odds were stacked against him. There were a few times where he did lose and has even died in four different films, but he always comes back even stronger than ever. That's why he deserves the name "King of the Monsters." Also, can't wait for Godzilla: King of the Monsters coming out this year.
