My theory about the elements of harmony is that they weren’t destroyed in G4. Yes, their physical representations were destroyed, but by then they were no longer needed. I believe that the elements of harmony take physical form when things in the world are out of balance.

Yeah I went in at bare minimum expecting to enjoy watching the movie for an hour or two so it exceeded my expectations. I watched with a friend and we spent so much time gushing about the subtle touches to the CG like how light played across their fur and manes.

I’ve seen a lot of theories that Sunny will be able to summon her alicorn wings/horn for various reasons, but what if it’s more like a slider? What if as she learns more about the unicorns/Pegasi/earth pony magic, her wings and horn get more solid, culminating in a fully solid form when she fully understands the three Magics well enough to be able to lead the three tribes like Twilight.

Such a fantastic review Blissy 10/10, i absolutely loved the G5 movie the characters were awesome, the songs were catchy and the plot may have been predictable but it was still fun to watch, and it still makes me look forward to the G5 series and speaking of i too am still hoping that Sunny's Alicorn form is temporary and that it'll be a power that she can switch on and off. And as for the 3 crystals, i still can't shake the feeling that there is more to them like they might be part of something bigger like they could be part of a pyzzle or something but i'm sure Sunny and friends will solve the mystery, especially if Sunny continues her father's research. In conclusion, while i admit the movie has it's ups and downs like all movies do and that it could've covered more if it were longer, i still really enjoyed it!

the movie was pretty good, the songs were good, some references i did get that was i the movie, and that running gag that was inn the movie as well, and dance dance revolution is now cannon inn G5 now, eat your heart out Josh and Bliss, i do like the mane 5 characters in the film, hitch could represent the element of kindness, Zipp representing the element of loyalty, Pip representing the element of generosity, Izzy representing the element of laughter, and sunny representing the element of magic, overall i look forward to what G5 has more to offer, overall 10/10 Blissy ^_^, also the scene where sunny turning into an alicorn i was like, (New Merchandise!!!!!!), i can't be the only one who thought that ^^

Something I don't see people mentioning: Heart to Hoof. A phase we hear from Sunny and her dad, that we hear throughout the movie. And what shape are their hooves? Hearts. And in the end credits scene what is the print of? Hoof hearts. I'm like 75% sure that either that phrase has some serious meaning and was represented in the physical way because it's an earth pony phrase, or there is something to the glowing magic that will link back to things. Heart to Hoof, for those who are empathic, caring and want to make a, wait for it, connection. And what are the ponies doing and creating now? Connections.

to expand a few things that make this movie a lot more... nuanced than the usual racism stories each leader represents different societal pressures sort of Phyllis - work/businesses, fear Queen Haven - government/celebrities, ignorance (Pegasi society stays glued to their screens instead of confronting problems) Alphabittle - religion (superstitions were a clever way to get as close as they could without offending anyone), wallowing in depression to answer your question on mayonaise being cursed: it's a white substance in a jar

Hitch and Zip were characters I was unsure of from the promotional material but I came away adoring both. They are kind and responsible individuals that also don't mind having fun once in a while. Izzy is still my top favorite due to how cute she is and the fact that the entire plot happened because she took that first step to go out and meet other ponies.

I enjoyed the film a great deal; the characters had depth and there was a good synergy between them. I especially liked the fact that Hitch and Sunny grew up as playmates and friends; there is a lot that could be mined from that for story ideas. I hoped Hitch would be the rock of friendship for Sunny and the others to lean on when needed and his character didn't disappoint. Hitch's best line: "I'll be right here if you want to talk, Sunny." The best kind of friend anyone could hope to have: one that listens. The musical numbers were catchy and memorable, the animation and depth of detail astounding (you know this movie is going to spoil us in what to expect/compare against when the series comes out) and the overall feeling is very heartwarming; you're pulling for the Mane 5 all through their adventure together. I don't know if it's quite 'Lightning in a Bottle' as Dr. Wolf described Lauren Faust's G4 MLP in one of his videos, but this is a VERY respectable start. If the intent was to keep the fandom interested and coming back for more, then they succeeded. What they have in mind for the series is beyond me. But then, I'm just guessing....

they describe twilight and her friends as being in "Ancient Equestria" So what happened to Twilight and her friends? Will they appear in the new series as side characters? Or main characters? Discord seemed to live on for thousands of years and when Discord returned then Celestia and Luna were still alive which means that an alicorn's life span could last possibly forever soooo will Twilight be making an appearance? If the 3 types of ponies got split up with no magic then who did it? Could it have been someone who had no magic at all and thus they didn't have to worry about themselves in order to destroy Equestria and magic as we knew it and if so then will this villain make an appearance as well? Maybe Twilight got trapped in limbo like Star Swirl did and is still alive? Sunny could figure this out and try to bring Twilight back? If Twilight is in limbo then what caused it to happen? Was there some massive enemy that beat the mane 6 so badly that they had no choice but to seal away this enemy and Twilight in order to save Equestria? This movie raises a lot of questions that are clearly unanswered..

Hey, @LightningBliss I have a theory. Between the end of FIM. and A, New Generation Grogar returned. He released the 3 villains from stone and stole everyone's magic. So to keep everyone safe the 3 tribes Isolated each other. But when he was defeated the magic was gone for so long that by the time that the events of A New Generation happened the magic is slowly returning to Equestria. and I might expand this idea with my book on Wattpad called Grogar Returns.

My (current) headcannon for the magic stones is that, towards the end of Twilight's reign there were already seeds of discord among the ponies, if they hadn't straight up split yet, and that she used her powers to seal magic away within the stones in such a way that only someone who could unite the pony tribes again would be able to break this seal.

Honestly I’m thinking there’s a good chance that there was some villain responsible for the loss of magic, it’s just that getting rid of the magic and dividing the races was the main plan. It’s just that the crystals restored that magic when they sensed the magic of friendship. As for whatever happened to the villain, I’m guessing they either are doing something somewhere else, or they were partially foiled via being imprisoned or something but after the damage had been done.

I agree with your concept, that Twi' created the "pony crystals" to focus the magic of the different races. I imagine that originally everypony just assumed having the crystals would keep the magic alive no matter what, meanwhile forgetting the true source of it. Taking the magic for granted, they might've grown apart, forgetting how much the races (tribes?) need each other, causing their magic to slowly fade from then on. One thing I'm hoping for from the new series is a gradual exploration and reveal of what really happened during the time leading up to G5! As well as a variety of adventures as the Mane 5 discover what went wrong and help other ponies to learn how to keep the magic alive! PS: I noticed your intro and ending music and how they relate to your whole "rainbow" theme! XD

I am personally really excited for the series, so many questions and some fantastic fan theories for what happened between the tribes. Personally what I think is, that something really really bad happened where Twilight (Yes I believe she might have caused it, will get back to that) set of a giant spell which made everyone ''forget about each other'' like Zipp said in a scene: It is like everypony just forgot. Now back to Twilight why I think she did it, something happened where she saw no other way and seeing as she was an alicorn made her qualified to actually set of a spell like that. No one else would have been able to from just the sheer amount of magic needed and I think she is actually still around. Her becoming an alicorn might have prolonged her life to what an normal Alicorn like Celestia and Luna would live. And the reason for this is in the old building in Zephyr heights where Zipp showed them the windows. One the windows had Twilights mark on it, two the building does not look that old at all, seeing how the design is close to what Zephyr heights is and the posters of the different pony cities and wonderbolts being there. That place could be max 100 years old and that is the Absolute max. So Twilight might actually be around still, lingering or sleeping or trying to figure out how to fix whatever that would force her to do this. But that is just my personal theory Oh yeah and the crystals, might have been made by Twilight too or someone other really powerful as a backup to bring magic back and friendship if Twilight failed in whatever caused this.

This was a really good movie and I especially loved the whole thing with mayonnaise as some sorta bad word to unicorns. When I heard that I predicted someone would put together that clip with Patrick stars iconic line from the legendary spongebob episode, band geeks, that being “is mayonnaise an instrument” and they did and I laughed for 5 minutes straight. I do wish the villain could have been someone wanting the same thing that sunny wanted (uniting all the tribes) but by force and sunny showing said villain people need to do that themselves but sprout was still a funny antagonist and his song, angry mob, felt like a combination of blame Canada from the South Park movie and when the going gets tough from the spongebob musical but more rock n roll (obviously) I really love friendship between sunny and Izzy as they set out to restore the magic and especially when Izzy realizes sunny and her father were the ones who sent the letter she got. The music was real beautiful and while the plot was predictable it was still fun.

I've said this before in a precursor video of MLP: The Movie, their was tragic segregation and sentimental expositions between of the 3 distinctive pony breeds. And hypothetically, there was never any prime antagonist, showcased in the film to actually commence, but very likely, they were merely oversimplified ponies by false lore, logic, and propaganda, despite there briefly being emotional scenarios with there apparently being less character development that ensued, and how there was basic and kind of tedious foreshadowing. But overall, the film was stupendous for such a phenomenal masterpiece, breathtaking scenarios, harmonious music, story and character arcs, immensely textured depictions and landscapes too. And also I'm the optimistic, the dignified, the charismatic, Rowan Knighthood, such an esteemed pleasure to meet you Lightning Bliss which I love your hypothetical speculations and very deep notions, very amusing and captivating, from which I'm both motivated and inspired by U deeply.

Theory: Maybe magic being gone was a curse created by someone. To probably keep friendship going they had the curse where if all three races were no longer in relations with each other magic would be gone. Either it didn’t go as it intended where it slowly happened in the end or else someone did cause the separations of them all. Something like that.

Oh i loved the movie, though it could have been a little darker :). I honestly, can picture Sunny's dad's death, being at the factory... him visiting to demand changes, trying to convince phyllis to stop and... something goes wrong and he's killed when something breaks and falls on him. phyllis then bans his daughter from the factory, so she can't step a foot in there and risk getting hurt... even though his death was an accident she holds the guilt of it... then with her fixing the picture at the end... it being her putting the past behind her, and putting her trust in Sunny. Putting her belief in Sunny, because she couldn't believe sunny's dad. now of course thats way way to dark a story arc for ponies :)

I luv the idea of sunny being the next daring do. Going on adventures to fine clues as to why the magic was lost, why the lighthouse and finally why the gems exist, Ect. As well as Izzy looking into the unicorns past and zipp fining out more about the Pegasus. From her little hideout. Clues that help put together the entire puzzle mystery of the past. A lot of people have been wondering if Zephyr Heights is actually built from or on top of the old city of Canterlot, but I don’t think it is. We see in Sunny’s map that all three locations in the movie are located near a large body of water (likely a sea or ocean), but generation 4 never showed Canterlot or the nearby Ponyville being near some kind of massive water body. Plus, we see a map of Canterlot and Ponyville in the background of the lighthouse at the beginning of the movie, and no major body of water is depicted on that map. Zephyr Heights isn’t Canterlot, and that means that we’ll almost certainly be seeing Canterlot again at some point in the g5 future.

Maybe, but it's also been an indeterminant amount of time during which the landscape could have changed, especially if there was some kind of magical catastrophe involved in whatever drove the races apart. Someone over on derpybooru did a pretty good edit of the old G4 map to make it look like the new G5 map by turning it 180 degrees and adding some flooding.

I laughed so many times in this video not just from the movie’s moments but by the small bits of comedy in-between the views. Especially the transformers one, I wasn’t prepared for it and it made me laugh so hard. I also have a question about Sunny being a temporary or even permanent Alicorn with the princess being completely gone would she be considered a princess or not? And if so what would she be the princess of? I can’t wait for you to review the tv series of G5! Thanks for letting me comment!

Looking back at gen 4. The elements appeared once ALL members considered/recognized each other as friends. And I noticed it wasn't till Sunny(like twilight) understood what the real magic was. Also her friends fully expressed each other(zipp's and hitch's goodbye comments being a big clue in my opinion). Also. "Clear skies." Sister. (A fallout equestria reference for ya)

As a Disney Fan, and as a Pseudo-Brony, I give it two thumbs up, and would recommend it to Gen4 fans and those who are into Animated Musicals. To me, it felt like I was watching a season Premiere of Friendship Is Magic, in a good way. It gets me curious on what's going to happen, and while this time we have a fresh new cast and setting, It still felt like the heart of the previous generation is still there. Also, on a side note, seeing Sprout actually reminded me of Firebrand! I'm not sure if its due to his design or his comedic momments, but it just and to point that out!

The idea that the ponies have to be united for any magic to exist is proven false by the time of the three tribes. They may not have been united, but they still had magic. There had to have been something more. Maybe another magic eating threat that forced them to lock away magic, but it persisted for long enough that the tribes had time to separate again. I'm more interested where their technology has come from, since we see that they're just three modestly sized towns. Equestria was big, it had the infrastructure to support a spohisticated civillisation. Three cities, each left to it's own resources does not have the land, materials, or ponies to support an industrial civillisation in each. Even all three together would seem to be too small a resource base for smartphone technology, absent magic, which we know they don't have.

Considering the Terminator 2 reference, I think it may have been foreshadowing. Because the character you see on the billboard is the Arnold analog (I think it's the Model 101 or something like that). And in the second movie, he's the good guy. So that billboard was more or less foreshadowing that, at the very least, Unicorns would become good guys.

I find it interesting that all of the unicorn magic that was once taught in school, all of the books that taught spells are all gone. They'll have to start from scratch. I'm hoping we'll see clever unicorns like Starswirl start to create "new" spells

my theory is that twilight and the gang made the crystals to keep villains from stealing magic the way the the 3 previous villains did. Losing magic to keep em safe was probably a price they were willing to pay and thought it returned after the big bad was gone but didn't live to see it through

One thing that would make more sense to me would be if the pony kinds separated to perceivably protect each other. Like if they had something like a disease that they genuinely feared would adapt or spread to hurt others, though I admittedly have absolutely no clue what that might be. Something similar to the village of Eyam quarantining itself away from others to prevent the spread of the Black Plague to people beyond its borders. I’m not sure, but this seems much more convincing to me than some catalyst or event caused by malice. It would be too confusing to me given how integrated all pony kinds were in Twilight’s time. I hope we learn more.

I have one question; one that may change the perceived order of events. If the Magic went away because the Pony Races separated, why didn't the Wendigos return? Perhaps instead something made the magic fade first and the races blamed each other, prompting the separation when there wasn't enough magic to support the Wendigos. Perhaps the series will answer that. But, what do YOU think?

I honestly think the reason why they are gone is because of the last final battle of Season 9 MLPFIM. With the combo of the original six, mane six, and student six, all united together, it created the ultimate rainbow that DESTROYED the windigos before taking out Tirek, Cozy and Chryss. Of course this is just a theory.

XD oh i did see this movie a lot i keep rewatching it and i realised that somehow hitch and sprout very often reminded me of kovu and nuka from the lion king 2 XD because on hitchs side there were so many similiarities between him and me (kovu) especially with all the shipping opportunities he had like at the beginning of the movie i kinda shipped him with sunny and then when he met zipp god dang all the shipping signs there were and then in the firecamp moment when zipp invites him to be with them and then sunny (which im sure she said that purposely XD) said that she was glad hitch was there and that they ALL were that caught me off guard and made me think he would get shipped with all of them XD and then in the song "youre gonna fit right in" by izzy i also sensed a few shipping opportunities and also the way sprout legit talked about hitch having perfect mane shredded abs and also the paid off mortgage that definetly reminded me of kovu right there as for sprout well he is a mamas boy,a coward and is jealous of hitch XD like damn after watching it so many times i was actually wondering if they put thoses similarities on purpose XD
