Lightning XLT: what Ford HASN'T shown you

White has really grown on me over the years. I work for the federal government. All of our trucks are white. I used to equate white with cheap. But not anymore. My first test drive of an F150 was in a white 2019 F150 XL. With vinyl seats and a 5.0 coyote (wish I’d bought that truck). Regrettably I bought a Honda Ridgeline. Which I didn’t even have for a year before trading it in for a 2020 F150 Lariat. Right after buying the Lariat came word of the Lightning. Now I’m done. 2023 311A XLT Lightning. No more gas. Still the same truck as any other F150. Full size. All the utility. Congratulations again, Joe!!!

Just wanted to say that videos like this are so incredibly helpful. A vast majority of videos online primarily focus on the ER battery, and higher trim levels. I have an XLT 311a on order as well, and look forward to videos from you on it before I get it!

The lack of proximity unlock breaks my brain every single time! I use the keypad at least half the time! I have the same truck, color and all and I love it!

2:53 The tailgate dampener is actually pretty cheap and easy to add yourself and there are plenty of aftermarket kits that work great.

I had a true whaaaaat moment when I realized my Lightning XLT didn’t have garage door opener and proximity unlock. But I’ve gotten used to it. Still totally worth it for less than $60k.

I agree with you about the seats. The vinyl seats are way better than the cloth. I don't understand why ford thinks the cloth seats are better than the vinyl seats. If the vinyl seats came in different colors, I think most people would prefer the vinyl seats...

At the time Pro trim level was almost impossible to get unlike these days when Pro ER trucks are sitting on dealer lots. I got my invitation to order the same day as another guy on KZbin and I placed my order for an XLT while he waited a day and the only could chose Lariat or Platinum. Three months later I canceled my order and four months after that it showed up at the dealer, and six months after that I’m back to thinking about getting a Lightning, except now I can get the ER for the same price as the SR back then

I ordered a 23 Pro in August but Ford cancelled it and now I am forced to start all over and get a 24 XLT which is more expensive than the 23. I was trying to save as much money as possible. I wish I would have ordered an XLT to begin with so I would have had it by now. I know it’s easier to get one off the dealer now at MSRP but it’s hard to find the red or atlas blue I want. I didn’t use to be picky about the color but if I’m going to pay bucket loads of money then I better like the color. Ford doesn’t deserve my money after letting me order a Pro and then canceling it and wasting my time and not even informing me about it!!! The only reason I know is because I started digging around! But here I am!

@@JosephHerzog in August Ford opened up the order books for Pros and sent us an email so I ordered one online. I didn’t know they only make 500 per year or something. So those of us who ordered too late eventually got canceled but Ford didn’t tell us. The dealer didn’t tell me either. The Pro is still in my Ford account online and the XLT has not been added. The only way I found out was because I started watching Long McArthur Ford you tube videos where they said the 23 orders would not carry to 24 and if they had not scheduled by now (late October) that the Lighnings were “balanced” for the year, that we should put in an order for 24. So I called the dealer to ask if that’s true and they said my Pro was indeed cancelled and I couldn’t order one for 24. Apparently, the XLTs and up that were ordered and not produced for 23 received private offers for 24. I don’t understand why we who want Pros don’t get treated like we matter as much. People who order Pros and get cancelled should be informed as soon as it happens and get put in front of the line for the next wave. I saw some posts on forums where other Pro orderers were also expressing concern about their production scheduling and were also kept in the dark. It’s all very frustrating. Did I give you the information you were interested in? I could rant about this forever but my posts are very long.
