Omg. Ken. I had a wonderful time shooting with you. We need to collab again soon. I love what you did with my eyes. Personally I think the M1 still has some way to go until it could be used full time with Lightroom. However I feel all we need is a solid handshake update from either party to make it ready for prime time. Awesome review.

You didn’t mention the fact that you can’t calibrate an external monitor with silicon macs. That’s a pretty basic requirement for anyone working professional with photography.

Now, we can. X-rite updated the software for M1 macs.

I am working with 80gb uncompressed raw Sony a7R2 as today… My i5-8250u laptop takes a while to export. Can you test exporting 10pictures at 100% JPEG? Thank you!

Thank you for the review. Just what I was looking for. Now, what monitor are you using with this setup. It's been about a year, are you still happy? Thanks!

Are you testing a speed of LR with only 5 photos? My 8 years old MacBook Pro can do it with pictures from a medium format camera :) Challenge M1 a little bit. Import like a 1000 :)

@@KenTheContentCoachYT I have like 500-600 from each photoshoot. I just do not use import from card option. It is too slow:) Just copy files on the hard drive and import them with the option "add". It is way faster. But the interesting part is how fast you will be able to see previews, change between pictures, edit them, syncing them, etc.

I usually shoot the same amount. But I didn’t want to bore anyone picking photos and such. The video would have dragged so I chose five from each.

I import 130 photos on average from one afternoon shooting the same waterfall from different perspectives and to be sure I have enough images for stacking. I hit import and walk away for 20 minutes. 2013 Mac Book Pro

Hi Ken. Thanks for the review. Is it possible to calibrate your monitor when running the M1? I am considering the MacbookAir and using my poor old 27” 2010 iMac as the main screen but I want to be able to calibrate both the screens with the ColorMunki. Any ideas?
@davester14323 жыл бұрын
I suggest you verify that your iMac will support that. My old iMac doesn't, and I think it was a 2011. I'd check the year, but it's not in use anymore.

@@KenTheContentCoachYT Yeah the files are fantastic but my 16BG 3.5GHz Dual-Core i7 2017 MacBook Pro is really slow with LR now. I want something quicker but am holding off on the M1 Mac mini as my BenQ SW321C can't be hardware calibrated with it and LR/PS aren't currently running natively on it.
@KenTheContentCoachYT3 жыл бұрын
@@seankerrphotography Photoshop now runs natively as of yesterday I believe. Honesty, LR hasn't been slow at all. It feels like it's native. But I would hold on anyway. Apple is likely announcing new hardware in coming weeks.

I’ve heard that there have been some issues with the M1 chip working with Lightroom and more specifically photoshop. Have you had any issues with either and will both work with the M1 chip?

@@KenTheContentCoachYT I appreciate the reply. Did you have to use Rosetta 2 or were you able to use both Lightroom and photoshop without doing anything special?
@KenTheContentCoachYT3 жыл бұрын
@@mrwalker967 I believe Rosetta 2 was used. There is no "pop-up" to show R2 is on. But when you launch the app it takes a few seconds to run. So I'm assuming it's hitting R2 before we get to touch it.

Any suggestions with respect to performance settings in Lightroom Classic CC. I shoot a Nikon D850 and each file is approx. 100mb. Watching the speed of the upload made me cringe my iPad Pro is so much faster. I’m starting to realise that I probably should just get an iPad Pro as man it’s so much faster than this are use a 46 megapixel camera in the NikonD850….And it uploads way much faster than this and the workflow between image and social media is so much more smoother
