Hey Taylor, love your vids dude. My 40th was at Christmas and my wife bought myself a Epiphone Prophecy les Paul. I haven’t played electric for around 20 years so been on a journey since my birthday for an amp - firstly got an Orange 35rt but really didn’t dig the sound, then a Boss Multi FX pedal but Found the sound just too processed. What do you think to these Joyo amps? I was going to get one a while back. I actually msg’d all of the music shops in the uk this week and it was weird...everyone replied to get the Boss Katana MK2 100w...kind of left me thinking they were just trying to shift them. I had mentioned things like the Marshall DSL, Peavey Bandit, Laney IronHeart...and they came back with Katana. I am a 90s teenager at heart still...just looking for an amp that will give me that super beefy sound I like. Do you reckon the Zombie will give me that? Was also looking at the Hotone Heart Attack - buy these Joyo Zombie amps certainly seem to kick ass. Keep up the amazing work man
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No experience with the Hotone amps. The bantamps sound awesome and definitely get loud, but if you’re playing with a loud band, they might leave something to be desired. Would the amplifier suffer some kind of damage at the moment or in the long run? I want to output the signal through the amplifier send to an audio interface to record the signal without cabinet emulation so that I can use my custom impulse responses, and at the same time I don't want to have headphones and/or speakers connected for a while, can this be done without damaging the amplifier? @pernstar3 жыл бұрын
Question. I just ordered one of these. Since this is a hybrid amp, with a tube pre and a solid state power amp, is it fair to assume that this head could safely be ran WITHOUT a cab plugged in? The manual I found online doesn't answer this question. Asking, because I would like to run this head for recording, with no cab, just the FX send into my board, into my interface. Thanks in advance!!! Awesome video btw.
@Krashulka3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can run it without a speaker plugged in if you just want to use the headphones / line in or loop send to a larger watt power amp. The main power amp is not tube, and you won't burn out the single preamp valve. Cheers

Probably impossible, Joyo has much smaller headroom, hence much wider sound of Mesa both in low and high end. Plus, adding that preamp only put Joyo in disadvantage, because of aforementioned headroom. I am 100% certain Joyo can sound much closer to rectifier than seen in this vid. Less gain, no preamp boost, some pre EQ for that "V" shape of sound.

@@mitchthegreat on the eq pedal I stick to a classic Mesa Mark "V" shape. On the amp, tone knob on 3/4 and everything else all the way up. Volume to taste.

What do you think is better for Metallica? The Zombie or the Jackman?? Thanks!!

i came to see the demo of the zombie 2!! i liked because, it was a good video and dissection storm of the light's bane is amazing! extra points for having it as a longsleeve instead of a tshirt \m/

Prince was known to play MB, and Im looking for a similar tone. Can anyone comment if this is the correct amp for that? All I see is metal coming from this so far.
@reneotten73763 жыл бұрын
He was playing a MB Mark probably? Totally different amp.

They both sound great in a mix. The dual rec cuts a little bit more in the mids but the average joe would not care either way and could not tell the difference because the quality of both kicks ass \m/

Sounds sick! You should consider swapping the pickups around in your Solar and see what the 85 sounds like in the bridge (paired with a knarly amp).
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've been told that quite a few times.. I may have to check it out!
@inclinedtoshadows45453 жыл бұрын
85's do not sound good in the bridge position,too dark and muddy for tight metal.

@inclined to shadows. I agree, but I get SO many people telling me they prefer it that it makes me wonder if my memory isnt serving me correctly...
@inclinedtoshadows45453 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorDanley perhaps it's a matter of personal preference and opinion. I have tried it several times and don't prefer it myself.
@reaperofwaywardsouls3 жыл бұрын
Admittedly, I like it better at D or Eb standard... but I'm sure it would get pretty flubby the lower you go. Might make for good content regardless!

I love my original zombie. I modded it so the tube was inside the chassis and I removed the cover. Now it fits really nicely on my pedalboard and all I have to do is run my speaker cable to my cab rather than four cables. I also modded it to give me a footswitchable channel select. Only problem with that is the clean channel is lower volume compared to the gain channel. This Zombie 2 solves that issue. I wonder if there's room in the chassis to fit the tube...

Before I bite on the Joyo Zombie (1 OR 2) and potentially waste my money can anyone out there answer if either amp can roughly approximate John Sykes tone on Whitesnake's Still of the Night? That tone is heavy as fuck but not modern metal. I know he used Mesa Coliseums for that track and was wondering if these can at least get close.

Listening to solo I hear a rumble in the Zombie that the Mesa doesn't have. I own a Zombie I and have a hard time fighting that rumble with dynamic EQs etc., maybe I need to switch to a Mesa to avoid that in the first place. :/

Cutting the bass and making it sound a little more fuller will make it sound very similar to Dual rec.
@thisguy2973 Жыл бұрын
I feel like what I can tell from the audio here, the Joyo has more of a mid-forward sound, but not in that obnoxious way that a lot of modern metal uses. Sounds really great!
@matthewminard41129 ай бұрын
You could totally pan the mesa left and zombie right and have a cool mix with both amps I think. Mesa is definitely warmer (power tubes obviously) but they sound similar enough and the zombie has like an airyness to it that actually sounds cool. Again I think both together would make a sonically cool mix.

Great demo and it sounds nice if I ever am in the mood for a more American sound, but I kinda can't believe they went with separate channel controls instead of a full-sized EQ section. Sounded like a no-brainer when I first saw they had an expanded version with two rows of controls.
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, full eq would be nice, but I think they still did a pretty great job of capturing the essence of a dual rec and putting it in a lunchbox head.
@Tehstroyer3 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorDanley Oh, they absolutely did. No questions here. I understand it being that way on V1. It's just it feels like they want us to buy multiple amps for a larger sonic palette and doing one sound with more control as an expansion fits more to me with that idea than putting emphasis on it being more versatile, with fully separate channels. But then again, I don't make them so that might just be me assuming shit based on my preferences.
