Lightweight EDC Knife - Victorinox Bantam Review

I've carried an Alox Bantam for years and use it regularly. I used to have one of the much bigger SAKs and it was too bulky for easy EDC and therefore never got used. That multi function blade is an excellent design, being a flathead screwdriver, and the corner is the right profile to fit a Phillips.

I love he combo tool, it's once of my favourite SAK tools and would probably be included when I eventually acquire a custom SAK!

Love my Bantam, easy to carry. Best knife is always the one you have with you.

This is good stuff. I own both versions of the Bantam but the Alox version is my favourite due to that very slim profile. I was interested regarding your suggested pair ups. I carried a Cadet and a Leatherman Squirt for many years as part of my EDC. Both saw a great deal of use are now semi-retired. I currently EDC a Tinker model with an Alox Classic on my key chain and this combo works well for me.

Glad you like it! I think you're asking about SAK pairing with other tools rights? I really like pairing an Explorer with a Leatherman Bond in an organiser. I also usually pair a 58mm (minichamp, alox Classic, or Midnite Manager usually) with something more substantial since the size difference really makes the tools good for different applications than full size. For example, I might carry one with a dedicated folding knife, or pair a Classic with a full size Leatherman. I love my Style PS and Squirt ES4 for pairing with other tools as well.

That's definitely a risk on suck a slender carry, the lack of keyring attachment makes it harder for sure! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.

I am mentally comparing that with my Spyderco clipitool with the screwdriver and bottle opener/pry bar and do you know what I would trade that for the Bantam anyday. I do think the Bantam could benefit from a pocket clip or keyring though. I think I shall be adding a Bantam to my Victorinox collection soon.

If you want to add a clip to it, then NIte Ize sells some adhesive backed ones that would let you carry it like a modern pocket knife.

Bantam Cellidor version has a keyring attachement.

Good point! The cellidor isn't my cup of tea personally, I think the bantam best suits the low profile of alox, but it's a great option to have.

The SAK blade shape isn't for everyone, certainly not my favourite shape, but tends to get most daily jobs done ime.
