Before the creation of Eve, Adam was surrounded by a beautiful paradise, he had dominion over the whole planet, he mirrored and reflected the holiness of God. Yet, something was still missing. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul examines the theme and focus of the second chapter of Genesis: the creation of woman and the divine institution of marriage.

Far be it from me to argue with the Almighty, however, I would be lying if I said I am not more than a little sad that Dr. Sproul is no longer with us. I am blessed that we have so much of his preaching on video and audio, however. The Holy Spirit truly used him in a glorious way. 🙌

Have you ever noticed that directly after Jesus' teaching about divorce in Mark 10 that it is followed by children entering the story? It sometimes seems as if everyone gets stuck on the adults being the 'one flesh' and just never progress past that point to the children. They are not only biologically 'one flesh', but also the spiritual and intellectual combination of their parents.
@wk1810
@wk1810 6 ай бұрын
The focus in Mark 10: 1-12 is on the "two" becoming one flesh through the act of intimacy, not through the act of child-bearing. This is why adultery, fornication and divorce are so devastating and strictly forbidden.
@LeRoiBooysen
@LeRoiBooysen 6 ай бұрын
@@wk1810 I agree, it nevertheless seems as though that particular focus is only one half or part of the entire thought that was being carried over. I've encountered something similar when discussing the book of Job and what they understand from it based on the interactions between him, his friends and God.

Because they aren’t married? True, I don’t agree with the unbiblical Roman Catholic restrictions concerning marriage. But, how would you explain single people in general? Or people who never find anyone to marry in life? I think his point was.. it’s not good that man is isolated or alone in life, with no fellowship or connections. Not necessarily that it’s bad that he never gets married. After all, the Bible says it’s a good thing if a man never touches a woman and singleness is more of a blessing since you have more time to commit to God.

There are close to 9 million species on this planet not including those that are extinct, and God in his infinite knowledge decided to bring them from all the continents of the earth just to be named? Does this include dinosaurs from the various time periods? And why Is God even bothering with this when he knows that he’s going to make a helper in eve? Or does this throw into question Gods infinite knowledge aspect

@jjjjjjjjj323
@jjjjjjjjj323 2 жыл бұрын
From my perspective I don’t think dinosaurs existed at the same time as humans. I don’t see why there would be a problem understanding this as his naming the animals present at the time in the garden. We had plenty of time to discover more and name them later. At the end of the day if there is a God none of this is too far fetched. If one doesn’t believe in a person god then it would be wild beyond all reason. But, of course, those people tend to be quick to accept all kinds of wild nonsense in Gods place.
