I am so glad the viewership and subscribers of Ligonier Ministries are on the rase. 10 years ago, I used to listen Dr. R.C. Sproul in my car around 4 a.m. while going to work from Minneapolis to a distant suburb. About half-way outside of the City of Minneapolis, I would lose receptions on my AM radio. That was when I began to buy Dr. Sproul’s messages on CDs. Those CDs not only renewed my understand of God, but they also brought me so much hope and appreciations for the Bible (God’s revelation of mankind) at the time when “Prosperity Bible Teachings” were on the rise.

"Sin will not make you happy" I strongly believe this, that's why when My LORD and Savior Christ Jesus save me, I have one desire, crying to him not to give me to myself again or else I will ended up like The Parable of the empty house, it says that the last end of that man is worse than the first. Oh our father who art in heaven, I know and believe that of all which the father God hath given to you, you will not lose one of them, and you should raise them up again at the last day therefore preserve me oh our living triune GOD to hid your word in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee and not to quench the Holy spirit consciously and unconsciously. Open my eyes to see the wickedness of own heart.

I remember seeing in a Bible or other book how that should read " deliver us from the evil one " and after that I always would pray that. Deliver us from the evil one.
@MrWookie213 ай бұрын
Yes, but the first part of the verse is not exact when he says "do not lead or submit us into temptation". The right translation is in fact " do not let us succumb into temptation" ; since God will never tempt us to do evil whereas the devil will always tempt us to commit evil. But by meditating on Job's trial, it was God who ultimately lead him into temptation though. It's a paradox of this scripture.

5:41 Soren Kirkegaard said, "There's no more devastating condition for a human being to be subjected to for any period of time than that of solitude." And yet churches were closed in 2020, some for a full year. I wish RC had been around to see it. I wonder what he would've said about that.

The story of Job is a marvelous foreshadowing of Jesus. The theme of Job is: God uses the suffering of a righteous man to defeat the work of Satan. This was finally fulfilled in Jesus' work on the cross. Like Jesus, Job was falsely accused, beset by Satan, disbelieved even by his friends, mocked as he suffered, and ultimately glorified in his vindication.

20:23 I wish I knew about this rather important difference long before now. But what about unbelievers? What is the difference between God’s conviction and the devil’s accusation on these unrepentant people? It may have something to do with the fact stated in this video that sin brings pleasure but never happiness.

I was already broken paralyzed in bed since 12yrs i'm a quadriplegic then this evil attack. He thought I would curse God and abandon him but I didn't I got closer to God. So when we say "leads us not into temptation" is that like saying help us not to give You a reason to need to test us or more simply help us when we are?
@blessed2bwifemommy3433 жыл бұрын
I would say the more simply...help us when we are. What I heard from that story of Job (I have not studied that book yet) is of a man of such great faith that God allowed him to defeat satan. Can you imagine being the one God used to show satan he is nothing to a true Christian? Oh I am not saying I would want to go through all of that but man I only can pray that I would be so faithful ❤. God rewarded Job greatly for his faithfullness and I can only imagine how glorious heaven is right now for him.

Job was not born again, Jesus had not died on the cross or been resurrected for our justification - Job had no mediator. Satan cannot come anymore to see God in heaven and make bargains with our welfare at stake. So all this going on about Job is not relevant to us, our lives or our relationship to God today. But reformed Christians tend to act as if nothing has changed. This "God is sovereign over every molecule" mindset makes reformed believers passive to Satan's activities against them as he goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour - but he can't unless we fail to resist him steadfast in THE FAITH - which is the righteousness of faith that we are supposed to live by. All of Satan's fiery darts of accusation are quenched by our shield of faith. But if we look at ourselves and focus on our flesh and live immersed in sin consciousness - we hear the roaring lion and think it's God who is angry and disappointed with us. Because God allows evil does not mean it is his will for us especially so in regard to the curses of the Law that he has redeemed us from.
@eveevans44123 жыл бұрын
All scripture is relevant through all generation. Those Saints were still saved by faith, and Job said, I know that my Redeemer lives. Get a good commentary and study Job, it's amazing!! The Lord bless you with wisdom and knowledge

I think temptation is a traditional understanding. All temptation involves deception but all deception does not involve temptation.
@c.g.ryderii24053 жыл бұрын
The temptation to "be like God". The deception of "hath God said?" Though I agree not all deception is temptation. The truth can be used for temptation as well. Satan lied/deceived in the garden when he tempted Eve. Satan told the truth when he tempted Jesus. Maybe this helps, much love friend. Jesus Christ is King
