REALLY good video. LOTS of VERY astute points. Hard to pinpoint any one highlight but I do think Christopher's truth about LGBTQ+ NOT describing people but rather their feelings. I would just add that it does NOT describe people but rather ideas, thoughts, and behaviors. Rosaria is spot on when she says the person is the Imago Dei. I have been saying this for years and I'm pleased and grateful that folks like Christopher and Rosaria who have a MUCH bigger platform say it too. And I know they have been for a long time as well. One thing I'd also like to know is the straight-forward way that they make NO bones about telling Christians to GET OUT of the churches who've bought into the Side A/Side B, Preston Sprinkle, Nate Collins, etc. theology. They are angels of light and leading others away from The Truth.

I hear you!😂 I asked AI to explain it. Here's what it said: "Rosaria Butterfield is highlighting a shift in how sexuality is perceived. Originally, sexuality might have been seen primarily as a part of human experience (existential). However, in modern contexts, it is increasingly being viewed as a fundamental aspect of a person's identity (ontological). In simpler terms, she is saying that there is a trend of moving from seeing sexuality as something we do or experience (part of our existence) to seeing it as something that defines who we are at the deepest level (part of our essence or being)."

While it’s important to have Christian’s be a voice. It’s also important to realize that God has allowed some to teach and others are not to do so. If you’re still living within a gay lifestyle then you should not teach and prayers are useless as they’re hindered for a man. The Bible is clear on the matter. Mrs. Butterfield seems to be open with her position as she is now married, but what is Mr. Yuans position? And if you think it’s not proper to ask these questions, that’s ridiculous. They must be asked so we might know that intent of man and what kind of person intends to “teach” or postures themselves as an authority. The Church does not run on degrees and accolades of man but on the law of God, Jesus’ way and God as the ultimate authority.

At about 27:10, Rosaria says the crisis in the Reformed tradition 10 years ago was over justification. I am assuming she is talking about the New Perspective on Paul and N.T. Wright. On that score, N.T. Wright got some things wrong, but got some other things right. Looks like we've got a similar situation here in 2024 on the LGBTQ situation with the criticisms against Preston Sprinkle.

I commented elsewhere on Butterfield's false equation of egalitarianism and transgenderism. It also occurs to me that it's peculiar how she routinely teaches and instructs men, as in this seminar, even though Paul said, "I do not permit a woman to teach," to quote every complementarian's favorite text. Is she not erasing or blurring the gender binary by violating Paul's prohibition! My point is that everyone uses contextual exegesis to interpret these texts, not just the egalitarians like myself.

Hi @tyamada21 Jesus upheld the moral law (Ten Commandments) of the Old Testament, which are all still in effect to this day, unlike the ceremonial laws (fulfilled by the Priestly fulfillment of Jesus as the Ultimate High Priest) and civic laws (which expired when Israel's monarchy ended). On top of that, He reaffirmed the one man-one woman model of Genesis 1 in Matthew 19:4-5. On top of THAT, He reaffirmed the immorality of "porneia," (Matt. 15:19), which included all the se*ual sins banned in Levitical law, which, yes, includes homosexuality.

There is a reason their denomination has decreased 12% in the last ten years. I only imagine how many will leave their sect in 50 years

This was both helpful and challenging. However 'you be godly parents and let God decide' begs the question decide what? I presume whether to save our children or pass over them. It is this aspect of Calvinism that whilst 'having a form of godliness denies the power thereof' and distorts the character of God. God was in Christ reconciling the World to Himself and that includes our children (both the older and younger brother (or sister)). Grace and Peace Colossians 1v15-20
@rockpaperscissors826 ай бұрын
My only problem with Butterfield's position is that she routinely equates egalitarianism with an erasing of gender differences and, thus, as logically entailing transgenderism. As someone who belongs to an evangelical egalitarian church and denomination, for over a decade, that's at best uncharitable and at worst woefully ignorant. There is certainly a form of egalitarianism that is rooted in secular feminism, but that's not the form that is represented by denominations like ECO (Presbyterian), NALC (Lutheran), ACNA (Anglican), and the Free Methodists and Global Methodists. We believe in gender complementarity, but we believe that the role of pastor and minister is not exclusive to men. Thus, we see the ordained office as an area where both men and women can serve and thrive "as men" and "as women," with their unique gifts as such. I'm fully aware of 1 Tim 2 and the other proof texts, and I have no interest in debating exegesis in a KZbin comments section. There's plenty of literature out there arguing for both sides, and I happen to find the egalitarian position the most convincing.
