Adam succumbed to Satan’s temptation in the lush garden of Eden, but Jesus withstood the devil’s assaults in the arid wilderness of Judea. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul helps us understand how Christ’s temptation played a crucial role in our redemption.

While I agree with Sproul there is a deeper meaning to these verses. After I was baptized with the Holy Spirit this very Spirit drove me into unknown places, very much a wilderness where I was tested. for 16 months. It was great in a sense at the time, however I failed to realize that this was a fight with the flesh. Only after 20 years did I realize this fact. I now can see the temptation Eve had before her. This temptation she failed and Christ won. It is simply a fight in the flesh with the spirit. The desires of the flesh, the ears, the eyes, and pride. All 3 of these area's are flesh, 666, each being of man and not of the spirit. My eyes were opened only after seeking God and his knowledge. Scripture is rich with this fight but many have no idea how to react in a righteous manner. Let not this become a stumbling block nor a snare, because this was Eve's snare, to listen and communicate with satan on his level without consulting God. Always seek his guidance first.

Eve failed the basic proverb...Do not lean to thine own understanding. We all do that from time to time.

Wow I am currently in the same situation. A week after my baptism I had to leave my home, I have been in the wilderness for over 2 years now and over time these temptations keep rearing their heads. Someone literally offered to "rescue me" from my situation and all I could hear were the words of the serpent. My deliverance will only come from the Most High, Creator God. He will take me out not anyone or anything else. Its a gruesome experiance but honestly its so comforting because this is the closest I have ever walked with my Saviour

The Temptation of Jesus (Luke 4:1-13) Interesting that it is also in Mathew 4:1-11 and Mark 1:12-13. Also another place; where Jesus tell us... Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Also interestingly; that verse has often causes Christians to think that Jesus "tempts us". But that is NOT what Jesus meant. He meant the temptations and evils of satan. Here is why.. ...When the KJV bible was first published in 1611 in England; the translators used a language far different that we understand today". Thus I suggest it read... Matthew 6:13 And remove satan's constant, temptational sinful desires, over us; and deliver us from satan's evils: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

Judas Sicariotes was Chief of the Scribes until the crucifixion. He was committed both to zealoty and eastern views. The successor of Judas the Galilean, he was called 'Satan,' and under this name debated with Jesus at the 'Temptations. On this occasion (which took place near Mird, the 'Wilderness'), they were together working out the differences within the newly formed anti-Baptist party. Showing Jesus a map of the world as it was then known, he said: "If you will worship me, it will all be yours." The concealed meaning was: "If you will accept me as Priest and Pope, I will make you king." Jesus replied: "You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only you shall serve." He was declaring his support for the head of the peace faction, Jonathon Annas.

Reformed Theology: My question is...... Who did Satan think he was talking too?! Every other demon that Jesus encountered seemed to know full well who He was and what level of sovereignty and power they were dealing with! 🤨 Besides, wasn't Jesus there when: *Satan got booted out of heaven?🤔 *During the temptation of Adam and Eve?🤔 *During the testing of Job?🤔 Why on earth would Satan have even believe that God (knowing good and well what he was attempting) even have a dialogue with him after all of that hostile history between them !? 😒🙄😤

Satan knows he is going to be eternally condemned to a dark unimaginably tormenting death. The Lord Jesus is fully God and fully man. Jesus in his human nature was starving and weak in the flesh so, In a desperate attempt, the devil decided to take advantage of that. Despite the beef between him and our Lord, he’ll seize a low blow if given an opportunity. The attacks from the evil one often happen in our weakness. Maybe somebody else can explain it a lot better. Our battle is not between flesh and blood but by the unseen evil spirits of this world. We always need to be spiritually alert, trusting in Lord Jesus so that God may deliver us from the evil one.

Satan’s weapon from the beginning has been for us to question what God says about us. To Eve: Did God really say don’t eat this? If you eat this you won’t surely die To Jesus: Did God really say you’re his Son? If you are….. Jesus being the 2nd Adam passed the test. Jesus knew who he was talking to. Satan knew full well who he was talking to and to what level of sovereignty and power he was dealing, much like when he was allowed to discuss Job with God. All circumstances that involve Satan are ultimately trying to get humans to deny God. The ultimate deception. These are good questions you have, and the most important work you will ever do. He’s speaking past Satan here to all generations. Hope this helps.

I see a battering ram, smashing one way a man who need help who go unsought, & the other way a man to god-complex, the unhealthy Shepherd/lost sheep combination. The helper only helps who is in his face, & the worst-worse-for-wear with a monster at home who they agree with too much and are burning their clothes on their front lawn. The worst-worse-for-wear have put the one with god-complex in positions of authority, and have run away with the helper, to a winning-team-hopper party. The winning team hopper will either praise God for someone, or crucify them they tend to love a shtty Shepherd. Jesus pointed to a 99 sheep & called them all righteous. There's no such thing as a 99 righteous. We are a mix of people, the ones who really need the help, & the one with god-complex together. I said to the man with god-complex "all I write is free" & now he rewrites my work. He writes it better than I do, to look as though he understands the work better than the author. Complicating the work, he stands to create religion. He is the price for the ones who really need the help being kept too indisposed to help anyone else other than himself himself. The ones who really need the help are losing faith in God because all the help is going to the worse-for-wear. Everyone let's the Shepherd only help who are in his face. We all know, that if we need help, we need to stand in the street frowning with a banner where we are seen. The helper, doesn't know what anyone looks like who needs help anymore, because now everyone's frowning and the worst-worse-for-wear looks more and more like the one to give a fish. Give. Say that on weekends, we all should take 3 things with us when we leave the house, to give, not just to who we want, what we want, why we want. Now ..watch the shepherd put his hands on his hips and say "but I already give to this person, for this reason, for this reason" ..and he looks like both the one who helps anyone and the one who needs the help. Realize that the ones who really need the help are all who know what anyone who needs help looks like anymore, & he goes by no name, nobody, nowhere, & he's starving walking his frail little body out of Madagascar atm. Krystel Spicer Mind Ark FB All I write is FREE. 🦋I also help write lectures & sermons. Please, help with this peroblem. Does this draw you? Are you going to say "meh"? ..help. help?
