Isn’t it amazing the this sermon was preached years ago and yet God brings each one of us to hear it in His own time. It’s as if God is showing us how His words are eternal is some small way that brings the largesse and largeness of God to light. What an amazing God we serve and a fine sermon as well.

R.C. Sproul said of Sinclair Ferguson, "He is my favorite Theologian." I think that Sinclair may very well be the greatest theologian alive. So wise, so gentle, the LORD GOD has gifted this saint mightily.

Such profound truths given in rapidfire delivery one after another after another that you have to watch multiple times to catch it all. And then, you have to pause the video continuously, because as you ponder the ramifications of each truth, you are given to understand layer upon layer of the truth you've paused the video to consider! Ferguson has become my favorite expositor, as he causes us to shout "Glory!" to our Father - as we should, for He is worthy! Magnify His Name through all the earth, all you sons of the living God.

🚨🐍🚨 [5:19] O people of the scripture, our messenger has come to you, to explain things to you, after a period of time without messengers, lest you say, "We did not receive any preacher or warner." A preacher and warner has now come to you. GOD is Omnipotent.* [5:15] O people of the scripture, our messenger has come to you to proclaim for you many things you have concealed in the scripture, and to pardon many other transgressions you have committed. A beacon has come to you from GOD, and a profound scripture. [5:16] With it, GOD guides those who seek His approval. He guides them to the paths of peace, leads them out of darkness into the light by His leave, and guides them in a straight path. [5:17] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is the Messiah, the son of Mary. Say, "Who could oppose GOD if He willed to annihilate the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and everyone on earth?" To GOD belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them. He creates whatever He wills. GOD is Omnipotent.

[3:59] The example of Jesus, as far as GOD is concerned, is the same as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was. *3:59 The "equality" of the creation of Jesus and Adam is confirmed mathematically; Jesus and Adam are mentioned in the Quran the same number of times; 25 times each. [3:60] This is the truth from your Lord; do not harbor any doubts.

Finish the job??? Are you out of your mind)?? Do you really think that the Lord of all creation needs a man to finish the job!!! How utterly absurd!
@joeiiiful5 жыл бұрын
Don't take this wrong, I mean it in the best possible way. What in the world are you talking about? Do you have a Bible? If so, do you ever open it and read it?
@MM-yv4qi3 жыл бұрын
Robert Gregg you obviously listened to the sermon so you must have been compelled to listen as intently as you do. What I heard was the beautiful relationship of God the creator giving us (His beloved creation) something great and fun to do within His kingdom. So in that sense we “finish the job” as the directive in Matthew 28 calls us to go make disciples. We in turn enjoy and call others to come and enjoy all that that entails. Of course God doesn’t have to have man finish the job but we are blessed to partake in the completion of His works. We share in His glory as the Bible says. We know that God is the finisher and perfector of our faith but it seems he ( Dr. Ferguson) was speaking empirically as one who reminisces about being given some important task by your father as a sign of your manhood and trust in your efforts to. “Finish the job”. I hope that helps. It certainly helps to think less critically and with far greater love in your ❤️. As for smug, well I just don’t see the correlation although if he were minutely smug at some point in his life then he would be human and not utter perfection. He’s a man of wonderful graces for sure.
