What a beautiful tribute to your old place. A lot of people like me watched your kids grow up in that house. I too shed some tears on this episode. Wishing you and your family all the best in your next chapter. Aloha from Yokohama🤙

Japanese moving companies are so impressive that I actually have watched videos on them just because I find it so fascinating. They can also come in and pack up your entire house, somehow do so extremely quickly, efficiently, and organized, and if I remember correctly some will also set up your new house. I might be misremembering that, however.

I cried. I feel so many emotions at once. I think of the contrast of homes we are leaving. Yours: loving, whole, safe, filled with memories of cherishing each other. Mine: controlling, broken, unsafe, filled with memories of fighting and torment. It makes me reflect on how I will truly feel leaving my home. And it makes me truly happy that your sadness is held up under a foundation of kindness and godliness. It gives me a space to understand how one can feel and gives me context to feel. Leaving my church family feels this way. I had been struggling to place my emotions and now I understand. It’s bittersweet. Happy and sad. I pray for smooth transitions and fullness of peace in the process for each one of your family members. ❤

Having not moved for 8 1/2 years, we did accumulate a lot of stuff! At least we were able to get rid of much of it, as it was mostly for when the kids were smaller and for living in that particular home.

Gosh I am tearing up. So much good memories! Also I miss being in Japan. My last time there was in May 2019, then Covid came. We have been a repeat regular visitors there every year, 3 months stay for over 40 years! (except whenever my husband is invited as a guest professor at a university in Tokyo, then 2 years 🙂). Hoping our plans next year pushes through as long as Japan won't close again.

I think I will miss your old home. You packed so much love and activities there. I know your kids will make the transition and Ruth will be close to her sister. With that beautiful piano music and your narration, it was like listening to Mr. Rogers (I watched Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood with my daughter when she was small. I just loved him). Hope you take this as the huge compliment I'm giving you. Your always positive and slow way of talking reminds me of him. Too bad it isn't around for your children to watch.
