That's what I dont get. Not country enough? There are numerous country singers who have added certain hip hop beats to their songs lately or collaborated with rappers, rock, r&b, and pop singers and yet their songs are still considered country. Makes you really question just why this certain artist was removed from their list.

@avadakedavra69
@avadakedavra69 5 жыл бұрын
@The real bibi The original lyrics are actually pretty damn excellent if you ask me. Not that BRC didn't do a good job singing his added in part, but the way Nas X wrote the original version of the song, I feel like although the lyrics weren't poetic by any means, they were definitely ambiguous; The beauty of ambiguity in music like all the legendary artists have used (Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Alice in Chains, Lou Reed, etc) is that the listener can apply their own life and experiences within the lyrics of the song with the song having no set meaning and being open to interpretation. And that's essentially what music is without lyricism; music is an outlet for emotion and empathy. So point being is that yeah the lyrics may not be poetic by any means, but the cowboy's way of life that Nas X wrote about and the way he wrote the lyrics, the lyrics can be used as a metaphor for quite a few things.

@@DevsateMe not really "I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road and I'm gonna ride till I can't no more." On the surface one would say it's only about riding a horse. But whether it was intentional or not, LNX wrote about his own struggle being down on money before setting out on his own. While being able to apply his own life experiences to the picture that was painted about trudging through struggle, many others can relate to trying to power through their own struggles whether it be addiction, relationship issues, family problems, etc.

I'm nearly 50. I was a little baby listening to the 50s and 60s country music of my parents, up through the 70s. 80s was terrible. I went back and forth between pop and country all through the 90s. Indie country is where it is now. Let me just say that the "mainstream" country music powers have no business telling anybody what is "country." They only care if it sells, which is why Johnny Cash, of all people, couldn't get on the air in the 80s.
