I think the lyrics are absolute genius and if this is his interpretation of Black Country - it's perfect
@avadakedavra695 жыл бұрын
@The real bibi The original lyrics are actually pretty damn excellent if you ask me. Not that BRC didn't do a good job singing his added in part, but the way Nas X wrote the original version of the song, I feel like although the lyrics weren't poetic by any means, they were definitely ambiguous; The beauty of ambiguity in music like all the legendary artists have used (Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Alice in Chains, Lou Reed, etc) is that the listener can apply their own life and experiences within the lyrics of the song with the song having no set meaning and being open to interpretation. And that's essentially what music is without lyricism; music is an outlet for emotion and empathy. So point being is that yeah the lyrics may not be poetic by any means, but the cowboy's way of life that Nas X wrote about and the way he wrote the lyrics, the lyrics can be used as a metaphor for quite a few things.

@@DevsateMe not really "I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road and I'm gonna ride till I can't no more." On the surface one would say it's only about riding a horse. While being able to apply his own life experiences to the picture that was painted about trudging through struggle, many others can relate to trying to power through their own struggles whether it be addiction, relationship issues, family problems, etc.

It's not disgracing. It just shouldn't be classified in the Country genre. You don't consider Italian food Mexican if you add Mexican spices to it, so why would you consider a rap/hip-hop song country just because it has some country spice in it?
