I love how they made Shawn realisticly drunk. They didn’t make him fall all over the place or anything; he was a bit louder a bit more expressive and then all of the sudden you do something you wouldn’t do sober.

I can't find the comment from earlier but they were saying that nobody detects Shawn has been drinking all week because he is just mirroring a lot of the others's feelings like they don't want to hear their teacher talk about boring stuff and that's how he's able to blend in so well.

This scene is exactly the kind of material teenagers need to see in shows today, whether on freeform, abc, disney, netflix, etc. Topanga's reaction "you were drinking?!" to Cory 20 years ago would be "so you were drinking, big deal!" today and it's a damn shame. Too many people don't know how to drink responsibly because of that shit
@mayowa12325 жыл бұрын
At least freeform kind of does or did with the fosters

Chris the episode touched on both subjects including underage drinking drinking responsibly and how heavy habitual drinking can lead to domestic abuse they reference the abuse twice once when jack his mom leaving him and Shawn s father and again when he pushes Angela against the door the episode focuses on alcohol and it s consequences
@thisismybrutality50613 жыл бұрын
@Michael Bull If anyone is drinking too much alcohol then that doesn't mean that it will lead to domestic abuse. Because if you're drinking alcohol freely and being more carefree and laidback then it doesn't lead to anything at all.

I just noticed something... They're saying here that Chet stopped drinking, but then when Chet is dying, Shawn says that he had to clean up after him when he came home drunk. And Jack says that he was "An abusive ugly drunk." If he was an abusive drunk, and Shawn said he had to clean up after him when he came home drunk (which means he did still get drunk, and something often had to be cleaned up which means something happened...) it is *very* possible and likely that when drunk, Chet was abusive towards Shawn. However he always seemed very loving towards him when we saw them together (even if he did leave every 2 seconds) so maybe he then forgot what happened while drunk. Idk, maybe he remembered and regretted it but still drank more because he was an alcoholic and the cycle repeated itself. All I'm saying, is there are a lot of clues pointing towards it... :(
@Dazzlefae6 жыл бұрын
Also, Shawn got very defensive when Chet and drinking came up. Over the seasons we have seen that he also uses humour to hide his true feelings, probably doesn't change while drunk... :(
@tigga23006 жыл бұрын
You're definitely right about that, he uses a lot of humor to hide his true feelings. He even uses humor negatively towards other people like he did to Topanga here. And he did it towards Maya as well after Riley in the Pluto episode brought up his fear of love in their conversation.

As I said, Alan really looked over Shawn too and the revelation of actually Cory been the influencer one made him feel even more miserable than he already felt. You own son going for that damn junk and put his best friend on it and that latter chosing to take all the consequences of it considering himself as the screwed one, I think Alan got that in the instant Cory spitted all the tea. And he apologized and really meant it, the "it's ok" or "it's not big deal" Shawn always says whenever someone treats him unfairly make me so sad because it is so not ok so I'm glad Alan pointed that out quite loud and clear. So Chet was an abusive alcoholic huh, it is certainly why Jack's mom left him and probably Shawn's mum too. It does make more sense about his way he has treating Shawn his entire life to be honest. Not that he has ever been physically abusive to him but that explains a lot of his actions and reactions towards him as the way he was totally disconnected about his son life and the responsibilities he had towards him, it totally makes sense know and reaches a higher level to his relationship with Jack.

This episode, the prom episode, the truth about honesty episode in season 6 were banned from airing on Disney Channel because they talked about underage drinking and premarital sex.
