My original Prado did the same, the rear went down a lot. Did go with a 2" HD coil lift, was overall happy with it, but should have just gone with airbags in the rear, more versatile, more adjustment to get ride level perfect. This is one of the reasons I love my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, hook up my van start the car and presto perfectly level every time, full air suspension, love it.

In coil aiir bags are the go. We run them on the 200. They are good as you can adjust them for load/ ball weight differences, although a 2" lift all round and a GVM upgrade would be a good thing. Another thing, do you have to tow in tow mode or can you tow in normal mode, that may let gears 7/8 engage.

With a full tank, 150kg of people, max 350kg on the tow ball and you have maybe 20kg spare on GVM? It’s a relatively heavy car so it should anchor the van okay. The GCM looks like it can handle plenty of cargo if it is in the van. If the rear hatch can still open can you invert that tow hitch to get the tow pin higher?

@robertjohnston36582 күн бұрын
Don’t believe it! Warranty is NOT a dealership managed product but is a manufacturer inclusion to the selling price of the vehicle and the dealership is simply an agent and acts as such. Toyota is voiding warranties for ANY modifications done to the vehicle, if they believe it MAY (?) have an effect on the car systems, electronics, engine or driveline! ALL manufacturers are tightening warranty compliance and trying to reduce costs in the warranty coverage as this is either an internally funded or external insurance cost of manufacturing. All these costs are on the rise , so be aware of the reality, of the manufacturer’s cost reduction attempts. Modify to suit your needs, but Mr Toyota, Nissan or Wombat motors will take you for a ride if they can!

Check out the tear down video comparing drive train and suspension parts on 300 v 250. Every component in the 300 is sturdier and more robust. Including the diff. 3 tons behind that? I know which one I’d rather use as a tow vehicle. These guys broke their last vehicle and I think they’ll break this too. But as KZbinrs that’s probably okay. And I reckon one reason they bought the Prado is to maximise interest in the channel. Fair enough.

I see Tough Dog Suspension have already clocked up 1,000kms testing and have now just swapped out the factory suspension to raise the car & beef up the rear suspension with their own product & are now out bush doing R&D to test and dial it all in for the best combo package before they launch the product (noting the factory rear coils were regularly hitting the bump stops) Next it needs 17inch rims with decent tyre wall height as a must do mod and the best looking rim for that is the ROH Assault in machined finish "Stunning Rim" (17 x 8" or 9" pref if they fit )

Hi Lil, Hi Jake, Congratulations on the new Prado - comments on this video - first, do yourself a favour and get yourself a stone stomper ASAP - for the sake of your rear window. On the RPM at 90 kmh - the Prado is a four cylinder and has much less torque than the ranger hence why it wants to rev higher - you could try towing without using tow mode and see if it uses 7 or 8th when obviously the revs will drop and fuel consumption will improve, providing the engine can pull the weight in those gears

Not a fan of that spare tyre under the rear re clearance & the pain in the butt experience of swapping out a flat when out bush. That adjustable tow hitch needs an angle grinder as those lower end notches would never come in use. Two glaring facts - needs a 2inch lift+ heavier rated rear springs+ 17inch rims with decent tyre wall height. Perhaps a rear mount swing out spare tyre & swap in an extra fuel tank underneath would be logical unless these new Prado's are just being purchased as a general use runabout. I still can't understand why the twin turbo V6 was not an option as it is a no brainer in any mans language (Ford Everest damn got it right)

Hey, legend! 10g is a lot of money to spend on a gvm upgrade, wheels and tyres. Also the tech is insanely better in the Prado compared to 300. The 300 is also coming out with a facelift next year so would be buying an old product, and Toyota also assured me it will be coming with a significant price increase.

A 300 series GX is almost 110k these days. Bit more than 10k difference
